  2. Kia News: Next-Generation Kia K900 Begins To Tease Us

Cool This should be a nice update for them. Wish them all the best as my gut tells me it will copy the German machine design.
  3. Your right I should have geographically stated, west coast as I know many are waiting to trade in their auto for an EV.
  4. We cannot fault anyone who forgets Kia sells a flagship sedan. No, we're not talking about the Stinger. We're referring to the K900 which sounds like the name of a knock-off Doctor Who character. Later this year, Kia will be launching the second-generation K900 in select markets like the U.S.. Today, Kia dropped a teaser photo of the new model. Compared to the current K900, the new model looks much leaner and the A-Pillar has been pushed back slightly. The headlights feature LED accents. We think the new K900 will use the underpinnings of the Genesis G90, which would allow it to have rear and all-wheel drive. Engines are expected to be the twin-turbo 3.3L V6 and 5.0L V8. As for when we'll see it, some believe it will debut at Geneva while others have it at New York. Our money is on New York. (Author's Note: I actually reviewed the K900 back in 2015 and thought it was a nice sedan for the money. You can check out the review here. -WM) Source: Kia Press Release is on Page 2 Kia previews second-generation K900 Kia Motors has previewed its flagship luxury sedan, the K900, ahead of its world debut later in the year. The new model combines sophisticated exterior design, effortless performance and a spacious cabin distinguished by luxurious materials and elegant styling. New technologies protect occupants, enhance interior comfort and give the driver greater confidence at the wheel. Created through joint efforts by Kia’s designers in Korea and in the U.S., the new K900 will be manufactured at the company’s production facility in Korea. The new flagship sedan will go on sale in selected global markets from the second quarter of 2018. View full article

  6. I don't think 2018 will be a good year for sales as the last year or two was just too high to sustain but I don't think that is the reason.
  7. Couldn't have been applied for the Alpha Platform call overall? Not only would a 7-speed manual Z/28 with the new LT5 been sweet, they could have made the CTS-V with the LT4 engine come to the dealerships having a 7-speed manual. I guess there were no business numbers to justify the effort and cost. Argh.

  9. OK, so MB dropped Diesel auto's for the 2017 model year and has decided to no longer offer Diesel in the US at all. This must be because they knew they would be caught with their hand in the cookie jar of Lies about Diesel Emissions. Looking at the news reports, MB states that Diesel was 3% of sales for the last couple years covering 2016 and 2015. 2016 = 380,752 auto's sold in the US, 3% is 11,423 2015 = 380,461 auto's sold in the US, 3% is 11,414 2014 = 366,589 auto's sold in the US, 3% is 10,998 Based on news stories that seem to indicate that MB has used this for model year auto's sold from 2014 to 2016 means we have a potential pool of 33,835 Diesel auto's that the cheat software was used in. This could cost MB big time especially since VW had been doing it in engines since 2009, makes one wonder how far back this goes for MB. Keeping number constant, at 8 years of diesel pollution at 10K cars a year this could affect 80,000 Diesel MB auto's here in the US. One has to also wonder if the cheat software is in any of the medium and large size diesel auto's they build and sell here. Boche wanted protection from VW for building the software and devices, one has to figure they knew it was wrong when they turned around and sold it to MB to use as well. I wonder how far back MB used this same software in their auto's?
  10. It's only if they knowlingly sold them something to cheat with that it should come back to them, imo. If they're contracted out a part to do X, Y, and Z and they make it to the specs but the other company does whatever they want with it they shouldn't be held accountable unless they knew it was involved in illegal activity.
  11. Plenty of news stories on the Leaf with plenty of comments by people that they want a new leaf with long range battery and are holding off. Clearly Nissan was scared by GM due to the BOLT 238 miles range and pushed out Leaf 2.0 before they had the bigger battery packs ready. Customers are seeing all the news by the various auto companies about 300 mile range EV auto's out in 2019 as 2020 models. I truly think 2018 is going to be a hard year for auto sales due to people holding out for the EV's. People have stated they like the idea of home refueling, they like the minimal maintenance of ev auto's, they want more choice and as such seem to be willing to wait to get what they want I believe. In regards to the BOLT, I agree that it was surprising to see the drop in sales, but still the leader and I think that will pick up as California Chevy dealers are reporting more and more Tesla 3 folks are coming in to buy rather than wait for Tesla and loose their rebates.
  12. Wonder how many Diesel auto's this will affect in the US? I also wonder how Bosche is not being penalized and forced to pay a fine since they created and sold it to both VW and MB? Crazy
  13. Short term car shopping. Again.

    Cars aren't but trucks are.
  14. Well, this is the USA. Oldsmobile invented the automatic in 1940. Ever since WWII, manual transmissions have been on a death spiral just about everywhere. Besides, who takes a Camaro racing?
  15. It's all about that NOx issue. Maybe it is time to go EV instead. Either way, this will cost a LOT of $$$$ for the Germans especially.
  16. I was surprised to see the Bolt down in Jan vs. Dec tho. But Jan was a rough sales month for everything. So the Leaf was all new, but the lack of a reserve upgrade is rendering it a has-been. Interesting indicator that EV performance is what's driving the consumers on EVs, not the usual factors.
  17. Short term car shopping. Again.

80" is excellent- plenty wide. No cars are close to that today- s-class is only 74". B-59 is 81" (no mirrors- all body).
  18. 2017 F-250 Super Duty XL Crew Cab 4x4 Powerstroke started at $47,725, or $13K under the $60K mark. Intentional commercial trucks aren't likely to be highly optioned for work crews, and going with the 6.2L gas engine drops that number by $8800. Mercedes lost 6% of the over $60K market share in just 5 years. Next year, Chevy, Ford & GMC are going to surpass MB. Chevrolet & Ford! What an amazing run in the truck segment. And yes; I already predicted the x-class is going to come here, and with these charts MB is going to force the x-c into the U.S. luxury truck segment- mark my words. They cannot resist.
  19. And how many of those $60,000 F-Series are Super duty diesels that aren’t luxury but more commercial use but happen to cost $60k. Mercedes and BMW sales are rising, it isn’t like they are losing business to pickups. The pickups just got more expensive. Porsche sales are at an all time high, but because their share is down they make it seem like Porsche is struggling.

Well, I definitely found something to replace the Durango with... 4Runner TRD Pro. I know I wouldn't be able to get it in this badass blue because that's a 2018 color but it can be had used for under the budget for a 2015 TRD Pro. Because I know damn well my Mustang will be more of a 1/4 mile car than a corner carver I'll take a brutal 2012 GT500 for that. Last but not least... I feel like I need to have one of these in my garage or I'd regret life. 2003-2004 Mustang Cobra.
  21. It seems Volkswagen wasn't the only German automaker that was using a defeat device in their diesel vehicles. Over the weekend, German paper Bild am Sonntag obtained documents that revealed Diamler may have been using illegal software modifications to pass emission tests. U.S. investigators looking into Daimler found two engine management functions, Slipguard: Recognized whether or not the vehicle was being tested in a lab Bit 15: Turned off the emissions cleaning after 26 kilometers (16 miles) of driving Bild also cited emails from Daimler engineers questioning whether or not the functions were legal or not. “The authorities know the documents and no complaint has been filed, The documents available to Bild have obviously selectively been released in order to harm Daimler and its 290,000 employees," a Diamler spokesman told Reuters. The spokesman declined to comment on the content of the documents, saying that it " had agreed upon strict confidentiality with the Department of Justice." Diamler has been under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice and Stuttgart prosecutors over allegations of possible cheating. Source: Bild via Reuters View full article

  23. I honestly am not surprised as I would have to question the R&D money spent on making this happen in today's age of auto everything. I am surprised GM would even still bother to do a Manual. The take rate must be low single digit sales percentage.

I'm right there with you on a few of those! I was thinking about the rest of my list this morning and all of them came up but I think I'd sadly pass on the SS if I'm going to have a VSport Caddy, personally. Z06, Boss 302, and SS.
  25. Have anything to prove this? Crazy real-world fuel economy. Those TDIs(which were cheating the system..) were getting 50+mpg pretty easily.
  26. About a month ago, we reported on a California Air Resources Board (CARB) document that revealed the 2019 Camaro could be getting a seven-speed manual for the 6.2L V8. At the time, speculation was that the manual transmission could come from the Corvette. But it appears this dream has been popped. Last week, Bozi Tatarevic on Twitter uncovered that the document listing the seven-speed manual for the Camaro was marked as a canceled. A new document uploaded on the same day shows the 'Trans Type' being a six-speed manual and 10-speed automatic. CarBuzz speculates that the seven-speed transmission has been pushed back to 2020. Our guesses as to why GM pulled the seven-speed off the CARB document could either be that GM ran into issues with fitting the Corvette's seven-speed in the Camaro - the transmission mounts on the rear-axle in the Corvette while the Camaro mounts it at the engine. There could also be the issue of transmission being slightly too expensive for the Camaro. Source: hoonable on Twitter, (2), CarBuzz View full article
