  2. Kia News: 2018 Kia Stinger to Begin At $32,800, GT At $39,200

Badge snob alert being that you have never sat in much less driven to one to think it’s “a little high”. Furthmore, unlike the Charger and 300, this one can actually take turns.
  3. Kia News: 2018 Kia Stinger to Begin At $32,800, GT At $39,200

Well, Kia already has cars more expensive--the Credenza and K900, which compete against Genesis and others in the luxury space. It will be interesting to see how the Stinger is received as a sports sedan...something about it does make me think 'Kia Charger' more than Audi, BMW, MB, etc competitor.. part of that is the name, which really sounds like it should been a Dodge name in the late 60s...
  4. Kia News: 2018 Kia Stinger to Begin At $32,800, GT At $39,200

You do not know that it is way too much for a Kia, your showing your badge snob as I would say that 60% of the MB auto's are way overpriced. Everything from the MB A class to the C class is way overpriced for what you get and in that regards much of the E and S class too in comparison to much better deals from other makers.
  5. Ford News: Ford's Newest Police Vehicle Plugs-In

This should have appeal just for the amount of money wasted with idling police cars. Police cars are pretty much running all day, that has to cost departments a lot of gas, and in cities where the cops never top 30 mph, this could save a lot of money too. I also think Ford wants to ween people off the Taurus police car because it isn't long for this world. GM should do a Bolt police car, or else when that electric crossover comes out that a size bigger than the Bolt, that is their ticket. Los Angles and NYC would buy them up in waves.
  6. As such, the quiet as a tomb cars will be welcomed by those that bought them, aka camry, etc. as the less maintenance is what these people want. By the auto, drive it or let it self drive and ignore everything else till they get to their destination. I am willing to bet that you could take all the ICE bland auto's that sell so well and change the Powertrain to EV and no one would notice or care. They might notice that they never have some of the basic maintenance to deal with.
  7. Drove Both American and German take on RSes

the focus rs is a dumb car at its asking price and i'm surprised people are buying them at all when the golf R exists, especially since ford dealers are marking rs' so ridiculously.
  8. Kia News: 2018 Kia Stinger to Begin At $32,800, GT At $39,200

In a way it is competitively priced in another way I think they are a little high. I see this car's real competitors as Camaro and Mustang, but the Stinger has 4 doors. You can get a Mustang premium for $30k and a Mustang GT for $35k, and I haven't looked feature by feature, but I imagine a lot of the equipment is similar on both cars. And to that point a V8 Dodge Charger is $35k, a V8 Chrysler 300 is $39k, and they always have big discounts at FCA dealerships. The version that Car and Driver drove was $50,000, that is just too much for a Kia. $29,900 base and $37,000 for the V6 would have looked more competitive. The problem I suspect is Kia will see BMW or Alfa Romeo as their competition, which it isn't.

  10. Again, not saying that at all. Why is constantly being misread? My original post was about complainers whining about the lack of engine noise from an EV when you already have a sizable portion of ICE cars that are quiet as a tomb from the inside and lack any emotional involvement from the driver.
  11. By that same token, the vast majority of buyers don't care about Camaros & Corvettes, doesn't mean the choice is not welcome for those who do, does it? Give this a listen from just 12:10-12:45 ~
  12. Obviously I’m taking liberty with the numbers here but the fact is that the overwhelming majority do not care about an exhaust note. The sheer number Accords, Camrys, and CUVs sold every year should give that away.
  13. Worst noise offense is Harley-Davidson bikes and just about every 4 banger out there where some idiot puts a fart can on it and so the auto barely moves and yet makes a ton of noise causing ear discomfort. Do not get me wrong, the growl of my SS V8 6.0 Liters is sweet and I love it, but most times, most people want a silent auto to get to and from work or errands and would rather listen to a audio book or music or chat with their friends.
  14. 1% of the new car market is 170K buyers. With all the aftermarket exhaust & mufflers available, and the factory tuning options/efforts done by OEMs, I'm confident 'those that care how it sounds' is far greater than 1%. Seems every amateur new car review vid takes a moment to document exhaust note, too.
  15. 1970's all over again, now where is that Disco Ball and bell bottom pants.
  16. Ram News: Spying: Ram 1500 Sporting A Split Tailgate?

If/when I load into a pickup, I always place the item on the tailgate, then (the 1% of the time I have to put myself in the bed too) I climb into the bed. No way would I attempt to climb the Ford Man Step carrying a large box; easier the other way. Just brought a grandfather clock to my house Friday, in my pick-up bed. No reason to get into the bed to load/unload.
  17. Oh good grief. You are missing the bigger point here. Regardless of what I like, 99.8% of drivers out there don’t give two $h!s how loud a car is and would rather opt for quiet comfort in this age of loudness (and no I am not talking about just cars here). As such, making an argument about the lack of a V8 growl is not enough to dismiss the many benefits of an EV. It’s that simple. And most four bangers are not worth listening to unless your into weed eater sounds.
  18. It's not weak. Ford makes fake noises in the F150 and the Focus ST/Mustang 2.3 get an enhancement which takes the intake noise and just makes it louder. Nothing fake about the cars. F150 is but I don't really care as that's not even what I'm talking about nor were those other two as my examples were definitely thunderous V8s. But I do love the intake side of things on a 4 pot. Little 4-bangers have a great intake noise. Vehicles that sound deaden the engine are cars that an EV would suit perfectly. I'm not arguing that aspect at all. You don't like the sound of exhaust on any vehicle? What your favorite V8 drives past you you don't get excited? There isn't a car that could drive past you at full tilt where there may be a supercharger whining as it comes towards you then a screaming V8 exhaust note as it passes like a LS/LT, Hemi, Voodoo?
  19. It is a weak excuse given that even ICE cars like the Mustang have sound replicators blaring through your stereo speakers because the engines are so throroughly sound deadened. It’s also weak because the same people who were saying this drove little four banger cars. These days whenever I hear that racket in a parking lot (or down the street from my house on a daily basis), I just wish they’d shut the hell up. Exactly and the 1% does not nor has it ever dictated advancements like this and it’s not going to start today.
  20. I can't think of the last Honda I've ridden in...maybe be a Pilot from about 2007. Are Hondas particularly noisy? Maybe it's part of getting older, but I really appreciate smooth and quiet in a vehicle more than noisy...
  21. GMC had a bit of a surprise for the Dubai International Motor Show with the Desert Fox Middle East truck concept. De https://t.co/ZyOFRMSHvH

  22. Maybe only 1% of drivers care what the engine sounds like...99% of drivers just want it to work and the noise to not intrude on the sound system. More work needs to be done on quieting HVAC fans IMO...the loud noise of AC or heat on full gets old in many cars.. I'm all for maximizing sound deadening--I hate when automakers don't put enough sound deadening with the excuse of saving weight or saving cost.
  23. The striping and color gives it a very 70s vibe..
  24. GMC had a bit of a surprise for the Dubai International Motor Show with the Desert Fox Middle East truck concept. Desert Fox was a special package available on the 1977 GMC C/K 1500 pickup that featured a tan (Buckskin) exterior color with color stripes running along the sides and hood. The package also featured a brush guard, bed mounted sports bar, additional lights, and tan colored wheels. This package was also available for the Jimmy SUV. This Sierra 1500-based concept brings this package into the modern era with the same paint color and stripe layout. It also comes outfitted with some off-road goodies such as an off-road bumper with a winch, beadlock wheels wrapped in desert-terrain tires, bed-mounted sports bar with LED lights, skid plates, and a new exhaust system. No mention of a powertrain but we're thinking it could the 5.3L V8. Source: Car and Driver View full article
