  1. Well... I am a native Montrealer, of Greek decent, I have never come across a camel...other than at the zoo. So my question to you is: One hump or two? Take a bottle. Shake it up. Break the bubble. Break it up!

  2. If anything, the advancements of modern synthetics has been one of the largest enablers of turbos in mundane consumer vehicles. Prior to that they were only put into vehicles with performance characteristics that would be attractive to the demographic that actually takes care of their vehicles. GM and Ford took a big risk when they started putting the turbo-4s into their mundane cars like the Cobalt, Cruze, Fusion, and Fiesta (turbo-3). But they simultaneously had started requiring full-synthetic on their oil fills.

  3. I think in the ancient world where BOF vehicle bodies sat on top of the frame (1930s?), there was very little cabin intrusion for the driveline. But cars were tall and narrow then. With lower, longer, wider some floor space had to be used for a driveline tunnel…

  4. I will always take an American auto company over European or Asian, but that does not mean I do not like anything from Europe. The bulk of European autos are too small for me which I have clearly stated. I have spent more than enough time in Mercedes and BMWs which seem to be popular as Taxis in Germany since I would up till the Pandemic go every year to work the consumer electronics show for my company in Germany. Yes, the E-Class and 5 series does have enough leg room to get from the airport to the hotel. Overall, I am not a car fan for ownership as pretty much everyone here knows, I am a Truck/SUV fan. If I was living in Europe, I would probably own a G-Class or Audi SUV, BMW is just too ugly. But I live in America and as such prefer to support our own U.S. based companies that pay taxes into the system over European or Asian companies that while support a certain number of working-class Americans, takes the bulk of their profits out of the country.

  5. So was yours, which was apparently to troll him based on an incorrect assumption. Don’t get salty with me just because you got busted for it.

  6. The floor hump in front of the back seat has never been an issue for me, I don't ride in the back seat, and most of the time in my Jeep the seat is folded down, so a non-issue for me.

  7. You would be wrong my friend, as a GM product today that has a hump especially in the back passenger area is NOT acceptable to me for ICE or EV. I see no reason for any hump to really exist in today's current ICE product. Especially an AWD auto, you can do it without the hump.

  8. I am not as @surreal1272 stated talking about the driveline humps of ICE, but EVs. It is surprising how many auto companies and that does include the Germans who have decided they do not need to give a flat floor and instead are using the humps as a way to just run wires from front to back. It would seem as I posted that the Koreans took the time to actually maximize interior space.

  9. He'd be right on Benz. Not on BMW or Audi. The GLS has a really old-school transmission hump in the 2nd row.

  10. Well... no one here has compensation vehicles... so I'm sure we're all above average in that department too. But I was referring to how we take care of our cars.

  11. If we are talking about height. Im below average. If we are talking about...um...length, yup...Im WAY above average in THAT category. AHEM... ( I am Greek... They say once you go black....and we know the rest, but...once you go Greek, you cant walk for a week...anyway) Speaking of which, I just just happened to tune in and start watching the movie Grand Prix for the very first time. I just just came across a line from the movie that is in the beginning. Which inspired me to write the dumb dialogue on top. There is a lady in bed, and asking a lover or her husband? Hugo if he has ever had ouzo. Hugo then responds that he has "had everything my dear". Then she responds that she was with 2 Greeks last night and she had ouzo, a LOT of ouzo with an expression of lust in her eyes and thirst in her lips to which Hugo responds back, "and where may I ask, was your husband when all this Greek and ouzo business was going on?" I had to laugh because: 1. I am Greek. 2. Yeah, Greeks will try to sleep with anything that moves. Married, single, young, old. Dont matter. Im not so sure they would do it with the help of ouzo though. 3. Did she actually imply a threesome? And adultery? In a 60s movie? While drunk? 4. Yup, this movie was made in the '60s, not today with all the #metoo awareness. 5. I DO think it was consensual regardless of all the ouzo drinking BECAUSE she talked about it like she would repeat the drinking and the threesome with these 2 Greeks. My random thought for the day. I will be watching the rest of the movie now. Talk to you guys later.

  12. I know you’re directing your question at @David but here’s my take. I’m not fearful of the 2.7T, but I’m not buying one either. There is just more durability in a V6 or V8 of similar output. Generally though, larger diameter turbos spin slower and are less oil hungry. A larger turbo on a small engine can produce a lot of boost, but it would feel laggy. There are sweet spots for any displacement engine. Little engines like this new 3 cylinder that are pushing huge hp/liter numbers are likely running smallish turbos close to max capacity. That’s going to need very good oil. GMs 2.7T is likely in that same boat. In an effort to make it a 5.3 replacement they’re running a lot of boost. Dollars to Donuts the average 5.3 will outlast the average 2.7T even with identical maintenance schedules simply because the turbo is harder on the oil. I’m not going to be able to avoid turbos going forward in any ICE vehicle I might buy, but I’m very on top of keeping my oil changed, so I’ll be okay.
