  1. I wanna know why are we obsessing so much on reliability? Its clear that foreign car owners of the Toyota and Mercedes kind dont hold the same standards of reliability when they still shun vehicles from Detroit because had they kept the same outrage they do against Detroit, they would have NEVER bought a German or Japanese car in the 1st place since German and Japanese cars were atrocious wwaaaaaayyyyyy before Detroit was. And, even for a very very, very very VERY brief time between the mid-80s to the mid 90s for the Japanese cars, that Japan DID produce reliable cars, Japanese cars just went down the loo again. And that would be for a select few Japanese models that were reliable. Most were shyttier than anything that Detroit produced. For every Camry that was reliable, there was a Cressida and a Celica that was shyttier than anything coming out of Detroit at that time that was the 1980s. Sure a 1980s Corolla and a Hilux were indestructible so to speak. All Toyotas even as late as the 1980s, were rust buckets... Corrosion problems far worse than anything coming out of Detroit. As far as German cars go... Nothing German can be called reliable at ANYTIME after WW2. With the exception of MODERN Porsche 911s and a W123 Mercedes. the hypocrisy is outstanding!!! And Im fed up of it! Its been since the 1990s that Im fed up with this shytty narrative!!!

  2. It will be faster than the Hellcats. By a decent amount. As much, but not as fast probably, as the Lucid Airs, and the Plaid. Why? 1. that transmission... Its supposed to look like a Dodge, sound like a Dodge and DRIVE like a Dodge. (Its supposed to look like a muscle car, sound like a muscle car and DRIVE like a muscle car) It will have shift points, like a Porsche Taycan (2 speed transmission), but unlike a Porsche Taycan, it will have 3-4-5-6 shift points to make you feel that punch. (Remember, Lucid Airs and Teslas have very fast LINEAR acceleration...1 gear only that makes it just go...) THAT may cost valuable tenths of seconds for 0-x times and 1/4 mile times. 2. It may not need to beat these other EVs (Air, Taycan, Plaid) in acceleration outright if only a tenth or 2 seconds off BECAUSE it will undoubtedly FEEL and drive like a Dodge and a muscle car. 3. Also, it will have an electronic software 'nitrous' button on the steering wheel called PowerShot that will produce an extra burst of horsepower to overcome any shift delay and punch its way through as to stay as close to if not downright overcome a Taycan, Plaid and Air. It will also have sport, drag, track and more importantly, donut modes to look like a Dodge, sound like a Dodge and DRIVE like a Dodge. (look like a muscle car, sound like a muscle car and DRIVE like a muscle car) Drag mode will certainly be interesting for acceleration times. 4. The Taycan, Plaid and Air will most certainly be 50% more pricier to buy anyway... Tim Kuniskis did say that all EVs are fast, even the boring ones whilst showing a Prius and Bolt like renderings when explaining what kind of EV Dodge is doing. Dodge is doing EVs THEIR way. What is basically what they are defining what an EV muscle car should be. Detroit did fast ICE cars in the 1960s the only way they knew how. And Dodge is was front and center in that time. Detroit and Dodge didnt care what Europe was doing. Like then, it seems Dodge doesnt care what Silicone Valley is doing. And I for one, if Dodge continues with this road and E-Muscle the way they just showed us, Im on board!!! Hope Ford and Chevy jump on board with Dodge's vision of E-Muscle and along with sustainable business and fans and this EV thing will be a blast!!! A muscle car renaissance!!!

  3. Me too. That blue is siiiiiick! The whole exterior package, regardless if it looks like a 1990s product, is super dope. (how's that for a 1990s expression complimenting the Air's looks?

  4. I made a thread on this. My opinion on it!

  5. A Trailblazer SS is just the 1969 or 1970 Chevelle SS that we never got in 2006 in SUV form. BOF hasnt been a Corvette thing since 1984. The C4. Sorry. Try again!

  6. ...a Trailblazer SS is not a Corvette with an SUV body... It's a BOF SUV with a Corvette engine.

  7. As a former owner of four different Toyotas, and host of other makes, I will respectfully disagree with the Toyota assessment here. Next, someone is going to tell me that Fiats are better than Toyotas and I’m just not ready to laugh that hard.

  8. I would also like to inject that while some have bitched about GM reliability of the 80's and 90's, I can also point to the real-world facts that even the worse engineered auto can last a long time if the recommended maintenance is done and even that depends on the attention to detail by the person doing the maintenance. A perfect example is that my brother-in-law bought a 1998 Buick Regal GS with the supercharged 3800 which has been a strong solid engine as long as you did the required maintenance especially around the supercharger. At this time, he also had a Honda Accord that he just drove for almost 200,000 miles before the engine died as he never did maintenance. He drove the Buick and by 60,000 miles the engine blew. He called it a crap American car when it was his own fault of never doing oil changes or any maintenance as required for the supercharger. This is one of the biggest problems I see when people bitch about the 70's, 80's and 90's. Sadly, most people never crack the seal to read their owners guide to see what the recommended maintenance schedule is. Any auto can last when properly taken care of, yet we all know that every auto company has built lemons right off the assembly line, so nothing is promised to be bullet proof. Sadly, common sense on maintenance is not so common and this is why autos are seen as appliances by the bulk of society. People buy an auto, drive an auto and unless the auto tells them they need this or that done, they just drive till something breaks or dies. This is another reason I think Electric will be better for the bulk of society with less to break and maintain. The Lemming society of drivers needs simple autos.

  9. Not fake. Its a resonator. And its amplified. The Corvette Z06 sound is tuned the same way. Ferrari V8s and V12s as well. Not sure how Porsche does it with the Taycan. I think Porsche electronically tunes it.

  10. I also like the Dreamliner. I've only flown on it twice - from LAX to DFW, within the U.S, and from LPA to MAD, within Spain. I like the bins, ceiling treatments, bigger windows, and more "humid" cabin ... great for the sinuses. I wondered why they couldn't make the Dreamliner 2-4-2 seating in economy. Then, the light bulb came on. Duh. Simple math: 2+4+2=8 and 3+3+3=9. So, maybe they could have made the Dreamliner a little bit longer and gone 2-4-2 with in economy! I'll decide after I fly on a Dreamliner on a long flight, like across the ocean. So, you got to fly upstairs on the 747. I'm guessing this was after the era of the spiral staircase. I got to fly up there once, too, but Air France had made the upper level premium economy and used a larger part of the first level ahead of the wing for first and business class. I got upgraded on the American side without even asking for it. The agent at check-in saw that I had red-eyed the night before for the connection and would be red-eying again on this flight, so he put me upstairs. Mostly, the French and French-Canadians have always treated me well and the stereotype doesn't hold up well, at least for me!

  11. So, 90's and Yet so Today! I also agree, it also has that aero back that Cadillac and Audi have done on their EVs. I like it, very different than other EVs today especially what Mercedes has done. This has a nice style IMHO.

  12. I'd agree, the whole exterior package is pretty awesome. It looks phenomenal in that profile picture.

  14. We're waaaaay off track here. The Hornet is basically Compass and Renegade mechanicals in an Italian body. There's not going to be long waits from Italy except for possibly body panels if you wreck it. The mechanicals are global engines and transmissions already used in vehicles sold in the US. Uconnect is off the shelf.

  15. While it’s true that there are delays for everyone, there is a big caveat here and that is once those worldwide delays are done, there will still be parts delays from Alfa and Fiat, much like Land Rover. The parts are made there and only there and will be delayed getting here for that very reason. That’s an issue for most folks, especially with a notorious pile from Italy. Come on man. It’s still a Trailblazer, end of story. That Vette heritage does not change the source material here.

  16. That is suuuuch a longshot to try and say it is a Corvette with an SUV body. That would imply that the frame and chassis are also Corvette, which they are not.

  17. R.I.P. Boeing 747 Love the Dreamliner. 787 Dreamliner interior Nice transition space between 1st class and business class or premium class before coach. 747-8 interior As one can see, the Dreamliner is a much nicer upgrade over the 747. I will say that the one time I was flown 1st class when at Microsoft and was upstairs, it was a very cool thing to walk up these stairs and enjoy the isolated first-class seating area and lounge.

  18. Those delays are hitting everyone. My co-worker’s Tesla has spent more time back at Tesla than in her hands. She’s probably going to try and get it lemoned out. It’s got less than 3000 miles on it.

  19. The last 2 big American carriers to hang onto a 747(-400): Delta and United. They would fly them on routes from their American gateway cities to major international destinations and Hawai'i. I believe they were discontinued just within the last 5 years. Delta United Of these 2 holdouts, I only few on United's jumbo once ... from Washington DC (connecting location) to Frankfurt. When the plane was newer, every major American carrier had one and they were using them from coast to coast, or part of the way ... to Chicago. @oldshurst442 Air Canada also had them for a long time, and it was basically the same thing - from Toronto to places like Frankfurt and London. Everyone had gone to an all white livery with no window striping by the end of the chapter.

  20. After a few false starts where I started watching it and turned it off because it was tedious and a long movie, I watched "Gone Girl" in its entirety. That movie contains enough material about dysfunction for a handful of doctoral dissertations in psychology. Whew.

  21. None of those cars listed can be considered reliable. Car and Driver did a long term test on the Guilia Quadrafolio and it was a maintenance nightmare. 2400 miles before the first break down, the rear diff needed replaced at 10,000 miles and it took 31 days to get one and that is before covid supply chain mess was a thing. In 14 months they had the car it spend 80 days out of commission, that's ridiculous. Every time a new Alfa comes out, they makes this "oh we fixed the reliability, it isn't like the old days" statement. Alfa also said they were going to sell 250,000 cars a year globally and they hit like 123,000 in 2019 and have dropped since. Now they say they'll sell 300,000 a year within 4-5 years. This is the biggest empty promise brand ever. I assume Dodge Hornet buyers will need to get to work, not sure what they'll do then their car breaks down and they have to wait 1 month to get parts from Italy. And I have seen worse with collision repairs, not uncommon to wait 6+ months for something like fenders or tailgates on a Jeep Renegade in the past year.
