i believe something causes a possible short, which causes the fire. It already was an LED bulb under the mirror. I'm actively reaching out to Lincoln/Ford about it though, because I think it's ridiculous to just lose a feature due to a recall. I though recalls FIXED problems. Right?!? I'm hoping it's just a temp fix until they have an actual fix. Losing something on a vehicle for a recall is absurd, IMO.

Facepalm is for the stupid way they did the fix, not a fix, lost feature you paid for. Totally agree with you. Sorry to hear it was such a bird brain idea by Ford. Wonder if you can reconnect it and replace the bulb that gets hot with a LED version that stays cool and will not cause a fire?

We have lost ten percent since January 20th, more to follow. Like I said in the other Thread, Maverick or Crosstrek. I just want something to get me to the next trail or camp site. This comment times one billion, I would upvote this to oblivion if I could.

I had a recall done yesterday on my Navigator. The recall was to eliminate the risk of something catching fire due to the under-mirror lighting. The fix was to simply unplug the lights and I lose the feature. This seems pretty ridiculous, right? Like, there wasn't an actual fix. I just lost something I paid for. I had a loaner new Escape for the day though. It was..uhhh...okay...

Kia...though they already seem to have a bad image at least w/ their cheaper ICE models. Of the list of midsize mainstream sedans, if I had to buy any of them, I'd go with the Accord...built here in Ohio, always had a good reputation and always known to be a pleasant drive.

Another thing: Italy does not swap out driver's licenses for U.S. and Canada. You have to go to driving school ... about $750. Portugal swaps them out. Spain is teetering on how they're going to go with this. The decline of the dollar is concerning for being an expat anywhere if what you have is denominated in dollars. With an eroding middle class, California ain't so great. As an 18 year old, I thought I would never leave. It's expensive and not worth it.
