If higher voltage systems are more efficient AND last longer, then I am 100% on board with that and agree with your previous statement. Thank you for the information. I believe when I bought my Navigator my credit rating was 804. I'm not sure where it is now though. I'd assume in that ballpark. I think this is suck a colossal mistake on their part. Everybody loves mirroring their phones and can jump in any car and instantly know how that system will work with AA/CP. I have a feeling they will reverse this eventually.2 points

It is not on GM to account for $100K in aftermarket non-sense especially when it clear the problem was the aftermarket set up and not the car itself.2 points

Please test drive one, you will be shocked as to the interior room. The head of the Mach-E program is a 6'2" tall burly man who made it a requirement of having 3 of himself in the back seat, space is good in both the Mach-E and F150 Lighting. I have no problems with the space. My issue is as you know the 400V system. A used Mach-E is a solid way to go to move into an EV at a much lower price to get used to the changes of EV life. I do not like cats for many reasons and some would turn a person's stomach due to what cats will do. Dogs on the other hand have a much larger loyalty and would rather starve to death by your dead side than eat you like a cat will. I grew up with dogs and while I have no desire to own one as they are forever babies that have to be fed, cleaned up after, etc. I like my freedom to get up and go any time without having to think about the dog.1 point

In doing some basic surfing about pets, I happened onto some gratuitous unpleasant information where, if you were to pass away and there were cats inside the residence who had not been fed, they would start eating your body within about a day. I don't know if a dog would do that ... or if it would take a lot longer for that to happen. I still like cats. However, this helps confirm that I still like dogs more.1 point

I like the response of Dfelt on this, learning something. My issue would be charging in rural areas. I go a LOT of rural places to hike/bike/camp, and would want to be able to re charge it in middle of nowhere Oklahoma.1 point

I seem to see a few of them every day. Not a lot, but a few. I'd like to test drive one and feel-out the size of them. I think they're a little too small for two kids in huge-@ss child seats, but I wouldn't mind driving one every day.1 point

GM has announced the death of AA/CP for all ICE autos as they move to a new unified computing platform for EVs and ICE. https://www.thedrive.com/news/gm-is-ditching-apple-carplay-and-android-auto-on-all-future-cars-instead-of-just-evs-tds The stories out there are all based on what GM has announced this week. https://news.gm.com/home.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2025/oct/1022-SDV-GM-centralized-vehicle-computer-platform-electric-gas-vehicles.html https://news.gm.com/home.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2025/oct/1022-AI-GM-launch-eyes-off-driving-conversational-AI.html https://news.gm.com/home.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2025/oct/1022-UM-GM-eyes-off-driving-conversational-AI-unified-software-platform.html1 point

I understand the efficient train of thought and that can be done with software updates in regard to the motors / controllers to a certain point. What most people do not seem to understand is the benefits of 800V or 1000V that Lucid went with over 400V. Biggest reason, Improved Efficiency: Lower current flow reduces energy loss as heat, leading to a potential increase in overall vehicle range when using higher voltage. Reduced Heat in the electrical lines, battery pack, controller boards and motors that allow for a much longer life. Heat is the death of electrical components and when the power can flow smoother with less resistance, the life lasts longer. A 400V EV will not last as long as an 800V EV due to the heat that naturally is generated along the lines. Mercedes has found this out the hard way in just trying to be equal to Tesla and yet the number of electrical issues on their outgoing EVs due to heat problems is one reason Mercedes is moving to 800V along with faster charging as Europe does not have the ease of at home charging compared to America. Do not have to believe me, but look at this one story among many out there that talk about why higher voltage is better. It's funny, because I've seen the same burning/melting from modified McLarens, Ferraris, Lambos, and Audis. It's a pretty simple concept, when you're making a lot more power than the factory designed them for. More power = more heat. How have we never seen a picture of your daughters Z06?!? In all fairness, they added to the lineup before getting rid of something. The Bronco Sport was added and now they're canceling the Escape. So they haven't lost anything in the compact CUV space. FWIW, I think it's a mistake to cancel something that moves that many units a year without actually announcing its replacement. The Mach-e and Lightning are doing well, aren't they?1 point

It's freakin INSANE how we can agree about automotive things on an automotive website. Who would have thought when politics aren't involved, things are civil?!? It's. Just. Crazy.1 point

I agree with you. Tomorrow's newspaper headlines will read: Oldshurst of Cheersandgears from Montreal Quebec has been civil to CCAP from Saint Louis Missouri. Yes folks, you read that correctly. Oldshurst has been civil to CCAP. What a turn of events! Out of the blue. It was a post concerning a C7 Corvette ZR1. Another poster by the name of...1 point

Cool story though! Rolling junkyards of the midwest. Not all Germans were Nazis but the world hated Germany during WW2 and for many years after. The same will be true for the US after Trump!!! Congrats to the toronto Blue Jays for making it to the world series! I'd rather be surrounded by snow then by ICE1 point
