  1. The only differences in the seats that I can discern are the new belt buckles and possibly added stitching. Lower third of door panels looks carry-over to me, too. At least the side mirrors look revised. Honestly, the photo is of such low quality and depicts a monochromatic color scheme that it is difficult to pick out what's really changed. Until I can experience the new interior in person, I really think it looks like Chrysler took a D+ interior and turned it into a C interior. Unless the tactile differences are radical, it just looks like a slightly better design when a complete overhaul was needed. It will be interesting to see what the effect (if any) on sales is.
  2. Fascinating. And what does this have to do with my being familiar with the basic principles of business accounting? They are always out to sell stories. Yeah, where did I do that, exactly? GM could have easily prevented the strike. But as always, it chose to place itself in a situation where it would be caught with its pants down.
  3. GM certainly could have prevented the strikes that occurred recently by having a more iron-clad contract that did not include such easily exploitable loopholes as has been discussed ad nauseum on these boards. By the way, you are talking to someone with a business degree. I am well aware of all that accounting entails, and I am also very aware of when to call "BS" on a company's spin doctoring. If a company is in such financial straits that it has to cut the meager dividend it was paying to shareholders, well that really does speak volumes about their financial health. This management team needs to go, like yesterday.
  4. Maybe I need to make it big and bold to get my point across: "GM IS DOING GREAT EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE-TIME CHARGE LEADING TO MASSIVE LOSSES" X 8 QUARTERS = GM IS NOT REALLY DOING GREAT The "one-time charges" may have all the merit in the world. But the fact remains that GM needs to do one of the following: 1) reduce the amount of these one-time charges to a more manageable level i.e. so a profit does not turn into a massive loss, or 2) make enough of a profit so that the one-time charges are absorbed. GM is a business, the goal of a business is to make money; GM is therefore not accomplishing its raison d'être. And by suspending dividends this past month, it isn't making its shareholders too happy, either.
  5. You can be a smartass all you want, but successive quarterly losses are ALWAYS successive quarterly losses. "We'd be doing great EXCEPT for this one-time charge" is fine and dandy until you've heard it for like a year and a half and suddenly it starts becoming, "so...when ARE you going to start doing great and knock off the massive losses?" This isn't a case of journalists not being accountants, but rather accountants making excuses for continued poor financial performance. GM will be gone if it doesn't stop with the excuse-making about, oh...just about EVERYTHING.
  6. GM has been "studying European interiors" for decades and only recently got it right. IIRC, Chrysler was owned by M-B when the original cheap ones were approved. Also, photochopped renderings always make interiors look better than they are. If you go to the Chrysler website and look at the Sebring interior, it looks kinda nice in those photos.
  7. Why does Rick Wagoner still have a job?
  8. Abysmal.
  9. No, but when press releases continually state "we'd be doing great on paper except for this ONE TIME charge" and then post these massive "one-time" charges every quarter, the spin doctoring becomes apparent.
  10. I'm guessing that demonstrates the seat heater locations? As for the interior in general, there isn't much wrong with the new design, but there wasn't much wrong with the older one, either. The problems were all due to cheap materials and cheaper construction quality. This design might look fresher, but how is it constructed? What is the overall materials quality?
  11. Excuse me, but I was trying to point you in a helpful direction, not "off your topic." Power surges are not related to CA emissions, therefore fuel-consuming power surges would have to do with your individual N-body. Maybe there's a quirk in the Malibu that makes it prone to this, but an Owner's Club or Malibu/N-body forum would be more helpful than this site. I drive an 01 Aurora, and the people over at the Aurora Club of North America (ACNA) are much better for vehicular quirks than this site, due to it being specifically for/by Aurora owners. The only thing I've ever heard regarding CA and emissions/fuel consumption, is that the blend of gas used out there, while better for the environment, results in lower net fuel mileage. From first-hand experience, this is true. The fuel blend/environmental concerns is also why it is very difficult to rent a car in CA that is able to leave the state, as other states do not have the cleaner fuel blend.
  12. This might not be the website you think it is... You might want to try an N-body forum, or a Chevrolet forum. I don't believe we have many Malibu owners on this site, so going to a site with all/many owners would probably be more helpful. ETA: http://www.n-body.net/forums/
  13. Blah blah blah...excuses excuses excuses... FOR SEEMINGLY "ONE-TIME CHARGES," THERE HAVE BEEN AN AWFUL LOT OF THEM OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS!!
  14. Yea I always request a box at In-N-Out.
  15. I will only use a drive-thru if I crave In-N-Out and am without company. Fast food while driving isn't too bad...I've done it while going 80 on the 10 before, and those were animal fries and a protein burger.
  16. Yes, it did. Classic movie...my favorite character by far is Naomi. There's a Naomi in every damn restaurant I swear to god.
  17. This is just too much... :rotflmao: reg FTW
  18. Boo! I missed it... Oh well, as long as I don't miss the Big One, I'm cool...
  19. Nothing screams "Don't buy me!" like an automaker's announcement that shortening the warranty will "cut costs." Really? For whom?
  20. Fatburger w/ cheese, bacon and egg. Hold the tomato and add a side of thick fries (steak fries for the uninitiated) and a regular unsweetened iced tea.
  21. That's strange...In-N-Out uses all beef patties that contain no flavorings or preservatives. They've also never been frozen, being delivered to the store every two days. In-N-Out does not have any freezers inside, only refridgerators.
  22. That's what those items are called. Animal means sauteed chopped onion + special sauce + mustard (or cheese slice if fries). Protein = lettuce instead of bun. And they've had "protein style" since the 60s.
  23. I wish SoCal had Steak 'n Shake...but we do have In-N-Out, which is soooooooooo good. In-N-Out Cheeseburger, Protein + Animal Fries, Animal YUM!
  24. Well, if there's a safety issue and the federal government isn't responding, it is the responsibility of a state to protect its citizens. CA is only the first within the US. The city of Calgary has done this, and the countries of Denmark and Switzerland have implemented what amounts to full bans. In fact: Source: Wikipedia, "Trans Fat"
