  1. Abysmal.
  2. No, but when press releases continually state "we'd be doing great on paper except for this ONE TIME charge" and then post these massive "one-time" charges every quarter, the spin doctoring becomes apparent.
  3. I'm guessing that demonstrates the seat heater locations? As for the interior in general, there isn't much wrong with the new design, but there wasn't much wrong with the older one, either. The problems were all due to cheap materials and cheaper construction quality. This design might look fresher, but how is it constructed? What is the overall materials quality?
  4. Excuse me, but I was trying to point you in a helpful direction, not "off your topic." Power surges are not related to CA emissions, therefore fuel-consuming power surges would have to do with your individual N-body. Maybe there's a quirk in the Malibu that makes it prone to this, but an Owner's Club or Malibu/N-body forum would be more helpful than this site. I drive an 01 Aurora, and the people over at the Aurora Club of North America (ACNA) are much better for vehicular quirks than this site, due to it being specifically for/by Aurora owners. The only thing I've ever heard regarding CA and emissions/fuel consumption, is that the blend of gas used out there, while better for the environment, results in lower net fuel mileage. From first-hand experience, this is true. The fuel blend/environmental concerns is also why it is very difficult to rent a car in CA that is able to leave the state, as other states do not have the cleaner fuel blend.
  5. This might not be the website you think it is... You might want to try an N-body forum, or a Chevrolet forum. I don't believe we have many Malibu owners on this site, so going to a site with all/many owners would probably be more helpful. ETA: http://www.n-body.net/forums/
  6. Blah blah blah...excuses excuses excuses... FOR SEEMINGLY "ONE-TIME CHARGES," THERE HAVE BEEN AN AWFUL LOT OF THEM OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS!!
  7. Yea I always request a box at In-N-Out.
  8. I will only use a drive-thru if I crave In-N-Out and am without company. Fast food while driving isn't too bad...I've done it while going 80 on the 10 before, and those were animal fries and a protein burger.
  9. Yes, it did. Classic movie...my favorite character by far is Naomi. There's a Naomi in every damn restaurant I swear to god.
  10. This is just too much... :rotflmao: reg FTW
  11. Boo! I missed it... Oh well, as long as I don't miss the Big One, I'm cool...
  12. Nothing screams "Don't buy me!" like an automaker's announcement that shortening the warranty will "cut costs." Really? For whom?
  13. Fatburger w/ cheese, bacon and egg. Hold the tomato and add a side of thick fries (steak fries for the uninitiated) and a regular unsweetened iced tea.
  14. That's strange...In-N-Out uses all beef patties that contain no flavorings or preservatives. They've also never been frozen, being delivered to the store every two days. In-N-Out does not have any freezers inside, only refridgerators.
  15. That's what those items are called. Animal means sauteed chopped onion + special sauce + mustard (or cheese slice if fries). Protein = lettuce instead of bun. And they've had "protein style" since the 60s.
  16. I wish SoCal had Steak 'n Shake...but we do have In-N-Out, which is soooooooooo good. In-N-Out Cheeseburger, Protein + Animal Fries, Animal YUM!
  17. Well, if there's a safety issue and the federal government isn't responding, it is the responsibility of a state to protect its citizens. CA is only the first within the US. The city of Calgary has done this, and the countries of Denmark and Switzerland have implemented what amounts to full bans. In fact: Source: Wikipedia, "Trans Fat"
  18. Bingo. To everyone: I love fried foods as much as (if not more than) the next person--you can still eat your dim sum, fried chicken, egg rolls, deep-fried candy bars, funnel cakes, etc. They will taste exactly the same (maybe even better), but won't kill you as quickly.
  19. This is NOT an issue of "freedom of choice" by consumers. Trans fats in food is much more analogous to lead in paint, lead in gasoline, or Red #2 (Amaranth) in food.
  20. This isn't an issue of what people eat; it is an issue of what is added to food by manufacturers. Up until a year ago, a consumer wouldn't be able to know how much trans fat was in a product because the labeling was not required until very recently. The only way to know would be to be able to decipher the gobbledygook in the ingredients list. Even with the current labeling, you can still be mislead. If the per serving amount of trans fats is less than .5 gram, the label can say "0g trans fat per serving," even if it contains .499g per serving. From Wikipedia (Article: "Trans Fats"): (emphasis added)
  21. Reposted from March 2008: Changes I would now make: *Kill "SRX" and rename what I have as "BRX" *Rename Saturn to Opel *Sell Hummer, merge lineup with GMC (as detailed above). GMC now Land Rover/upscale-offroad Trucks & SUVs. Professional-Grade, indeed--GMCs will be Chevrolet/Cadillac clones with upgraded, beefier mechanical components and higher prices. *Acadia dropped. *Sales channels altered; Chevrolet (standalone), Pontiac/GMC/SAAB, Opel/Buick/Cadillac.
  22. No, this is a very, VERY good thing. Trans fats are one of those few food additives where there is no "safe" range of consumption. Any intake at all is bad for you. Trans fats convert to the very difficult-to-burn visceral fat that lines vital organs around the chest and abdominal cavities, and chokes the organs. All this law is saying is that restaurants cannot use a food additive that is harmful. I don't see why anyone would be opposed to this, unless directly tied to a company that profits from trans fat usage and consumption. Restaurants do not make food for long shelf lives, so the only benefit to trans fat usage is immaterial in the restaurant business. Restaurants are still able to use naturally-occuring fats and oils such as lard, butter, canola oil, olive oil, sesame oil, peanut oil etc.--just not anything that is created in a laboratory.
  23. The overall level of quality was much higher than other divisions. My early 01 Aurora is still very well-put-together after nearly 90,000 miles. The interior has a couple squeaks over rough pavement, but everything works well and I get nothing but compliments from my (generally) import-snob friends. Most are surprised the car was built over 8 years ago.

    Unhappy America

From the American Heritage dictionary: I was using definition 1b.
