  1. Man, gotta disagree with you on the CTS interior. I think it is class-leading, and then some. You know how hard to please I am with interiors, too...
  2. I agree with just about all you said, minus the dressier interior on the Torrent. I don't see it. It's the same as the Chevrolet's. The Chevrolet gets snazzy guages with an artful black/white design to them and interior plood, while the Torrent only receives metallic-look plastic, black plastic, and artless black guages. I think the Chevrolet actually has the better interior.
  3. Quoted for truth. Honestly though...I think you could find one with less rust. There's just a bit too much for my liking, and I see what appear to be several hairline cracks on different parts. At the very least, get a very well-trusted mechanic to look at it--and actually take his advice.
  4. Croc

    Kia Koup Concept (NYIAS)

While the headlights look natural around a SAAB grille, the rest of the car doesn't look like a SAAB. This is definitely derivative of the Civic, though...but f@#k it, it looks good!
  5. Beta Tau...Founding Father, too. ETA: What's the story on Alpha Lambda? I see they're inactive...
  6. If you want to read a good Cold War book, check out "The Cold War: A New History" by John Lewis Gaddis. He's the top Yale professor who teaches the top-ranked Cold War history course at Yale. It's very engaging, and provides many unique and insightful viewpoints.
  7. Clearly I struck a nerve. And as others have said my post was directed at a wide number of people, but you were included. You may not like the label "douche," and for all I know you may not actually be one...but the comment you made with regards to the OP was "douchey" as were many others' comments. It's clear you have strong convictions, but you will not be endearing yourself to people who do not have the exact same viewpoint as yourself if you do not present your views with tact. The Camry may not be the best car on the market, but to automatically criticize the OP as you did implicitly says that he is 1. ignorant of his own needs and 2. ignorant of how to spend his own hard-earned money to buy a car that best meets his needs. That's insulting, and makes you look like a douche. I'm sure the OP is an intelligent person, who looked at several cars before deciding that the Camry is the one that best fits his needs at his price point. Whether you agree with the OP or not, you should be asking him questions as to why he made the decision he did instead of flying off the handle and insulting him. Guess what? I bet he doesn't post around here much more as a direct result of the tone and content of the posts immediately following his thread. Congrats, you helped scare another person off who will now think that the GM fans are jerks.
  8. Then get the Chevy SS version, or get the GMC Denali. Face it, for the people turned off by the Chevrolet brand, a Pontiac isn't going to appeal to the vast majority of them for the same reason. Pontiac, as a clone of Chevrolet, has a very, very limited appeal. To make an entire brand out of sport appearance packages for Chevrolets (which is exactly what the Torrent is) is absolutely retarded. The market is tiny, and the actual customer base is even tinier.
  9. Oh God...I just threw up in my mouth. But seriously, that's cool. What Chapter?
  10. Yea OC and Nick, we gotta do a meet up soonishly. I'm free after May 7th until the 14th, and might be able to spare an hour or so after the 30th (April).
  11. Dedication to GM means you buy GM, not that you shun anyone who does not. That's just being a douche. Frankly, this cult-like mentality among many people on this site is disturbing--guys, GM doesn't make the very best product for everyone's needs in every segment. So someone who switches does not need to be ridiculed or shunned--that's just immature and rude. THANK YOU!!
  12. He has to be, because I thought "Tourag" in less than a second. Hate to break it to you, but the Torrent isn't really any sportier than the Equinox is, or the Terrain will be. The Cayenne actually has some serious performance upgrades, especially compared to the Tourag.
  13. If I didn't have a billion projects to get done in the next few days I'd make the drive and go. Unfortunately, I just cannot. Boo!
  14. That's what happens when a site is populated by blind fanatics.
  15. I don't think the Corvette will ever go retro. Just a gut feeling.
  16. Nervous about the ginormous rear blind spots...
  17. Pfffft even getting rid of Oldsmobile didn't get me out of GM. I just bought pre-owned, though the new Buicks and Cadillacs are uber-appealing to me.
  18. The only one of those I may not have read is "A Walk In The Woods," but it just sounds so familiar, so maybe I have. The others I definitely have, and I love them all except "Catcher." Not a big fan of that one. "Gatsby" is my favorite literary work, though. So amazing on so many levels. Who's your favorite Gatsby character? I find Daisy to be most fascinating/interesting.
  19. That's because the C6 was designed before the more recent design trends became the standards: stronger, flatter, more angular lines, more upright front ends, thicker pillars, smaller greenhouses, etc. The C6 does look a little 90s...but it still looks damn good.
  20. I never said it originated from toxic goo, but that it is a synthetic chemical, used as a food additive, which it is. Glucose and fructose do occur naturally in plants, especially fruits. But when you isolate those compounds, there's processing taking place. And when you combine them into HFCS, that's even more processing taking place. Fact is that fresh and natural is ALWAYS more nutritional than processed. And with recent evidence mounting, the combination of fructose and glucose into HFCS 55 has some negative metabolic effects. They make you gain weight. Now, you might get fructose and glucose in an apple, but you aren't going to have a link between apples and weight gain because the fructose and glucose are naturally-occurring in apples and enter your body with other things, like fiber and antioxidants. ETA: In order to create HFCS there is at least one genetically-modified enzyme required.
  21. False. HFCS has been linked to low metabolism and obesity recently. HFCS is not "man-made honey." It is man-made, but it involves quite a bit of chemistry to obtain. It is not natural, and like most synthetic food additives, they are finally starting to realize that there are unintended health issues associated with it. Now you want to talk about sugar. Tooth decay? Please. Brush your teeth and you won't have that problem. I'm not even talking about the refined white sugar. That stuff is bad, just like anything with "refined, white" in its title. Natural sugar (think: Sugar in the Raw) is a lot less unhealthy for you than HFCS or even refined white sugar. Of course, it doesn't dissolve as easily as the refined sugars do, so manufacturers don't like using it as much. But don't think for a second that HFCS is just some innocuous "man-made honey" because it is not. That's like saying partially hydrogenated vegetable oil (trans fats) is "man-made lard." Our bodies were not made to process these synthetic chemicals, and as a result they have unintended health consequences that are worse than the natural alternative in almost every case.
  22. Because the general public are collectively stupid and have such ignorance that they know not what is best for them. Why else do so many people buy prepackaged Hostess and Little Debbie pastries? They're too stupid to know that they should actually care about what they put into themselves. HFCS is really bad, and more and more studies link it to obesity in general. Sugar is much less unhealthy compared to HFCS. But hey, this is the society where many people still think sushi is "weird" and that Taco Bell is Mexican.
  23. Oh yea, the Dublin Dr. Pepper is sooooooo good. I ordered a couple cases of that 2 years ago...yum.
  24. Coca-cola? No thanks. Gimme an ice cold RC Cola any day of the week...
  25. I really like it! What I like most is the unorthodox use of chrome...none of it completely surrounds the particular design element it's highlighting. And IMO it looks good.
