  1. As a second-gen owner, the only Oldsmobile logo is on the owner's manual cover. Everything else is the "Flying A" Aurora logo. The optional navigation system from 2002-2003 has an Oldsmobile logo at boot-up, though. I personally like that Auroras have their own logo; makes the car more special. Just like Riviera has its own logo, along with Impala, Monte Carlo, Corvette and previously Camaro.
  2. Outlander? Do you mean OUTLOOK? Honestly, the Traverse is a much better Chevrolet than the OUTLOOK would have been. Also, Chevrolet gets a push in having a slightly longer model with a 2nd row console to fix the few nitpicks with the original triplets. Ford has some compelling products, but they have cash flow issues and their product planning is schizophrenic at best. If Ford had their act together, the F-150 wouldn't be deemed "make it or break it" for them with every product or mid-product cycle. Don't get me wrong, I think Ford has a lot of great product, but at the same time there's always something slightly "off" about each one that keeps it from being a knockout. They also focus their resources (IMO) on the wrong places...for example the Focus is woefully uncompetitive and they have no sub-Focus offering. Resources are poured into the F-150 and Mustang at the expense of the Five Hundred/Taurus. Lincoln is left to languish as a near-lux brand with FWD offerings instead of being taken further upmarket where higher margins exist...which would also free Mercury to be more than a Ford clone. As it is, Ford's 3 core brands all compete for the same buyers...the differentiation is very limited, and market penetration is ineffective (IMO). From what I've seen, Ford just doesn't offer products in a lot of different segments, some such segments that are highly profitable for competitors.
  3. Dude, calm down, breathe deeply, and let's all say together: "pre-production interior mock-up." I'd say the cheaper-looking one is probably the original design, and the more upscale-looking one the result of Chrysler's "Oh $h!!" revelation.
  4. OUTLOOK has not lived up to expectations--it's just devoid of any Saturn brand character. If it's redesigned into a looker, then great...otherwise I'd say GM should axe it and use Traverse to make up and increase the capacity. Normally I'd agree with you enzl, but in this case GM is producing 4 very competent vehicles that have different visual personalities. Enclave, Acadia and OUTLOOK are all well-thought-out designs, and Traverse looks very dynamic thus far. These vehicles are usable. They also all result in the merging of minivans and midsized SUVs, something that's been needed for a while. The minivans and the Trailblazer/Envoy/Rainier have now been condensed so overall I'd say this is taking two mediocre platforms and coming out with one fantastic platform. Fewer, better models...isn't that what the successful import manufacturers do?
  5. I'd like to think it's the upscale-looking one with the nav on top, but knowing Chrysler's interiors of late it's prolly the cheap-looking one with the nav on the bottom.
  6. Winner-take-all is far too disenfranchising to me. For example, in a state with a large number of delegates where the vote was split 48.6 to 48.5, that .1 difference is obliterated at the delegate level. It simplifies the process, but it oversimplifies the popular sentiment. If a large, delegate-rich state has very close support between two candidates, IMO that support should be split.
  7. I'm actually a fan of proportional representation with regards to delegates. Preserves more of the voice of the people. Oh, and Obama is definitely benefitting from it.
  8. YES!! That's the one!
  9. After thinking about it for a few minutes, I'd say it's a winner. The three crucial Lambdas all look fantastic IMO and will do very well in the marketplace. The OUTLOOK is the only real "stinker" of the bunch, and I use quotations because it's a relative comparison--compared to the other three, it's just bland. My Ranking: 1. Enclave (tie) 1. Traverse (tie) 3. Acadia (by slimmest of margins) 4. OUTLOOK
  10. Indiana (home state, current registration) isn't until May, but what the hell, I'll be voting absentee in a non-GE for the first time. I want change, and I want it in 2008.
  11. I took one look at that interior and then had to think what car I was looking at. No joke...I momentarily forgot.
  12. RE: Pushing Daisies. I watched one episode with my parents (they used to like it) but I never really saw the draw. I saw a lot of things that I knew were supposed to be funny, but I found it far too over-the-top.
  13. Since this is a preview, I'm guessing they are just using the current controls as a stop-gap until the real ones are available. I remember the GMC Acadia preview website showed a slightly different center stack than the one that ultimately made production. Also, remember the Bel Air concept? The press photos did not reflect the actual showcar in a lot of areas due to last-minute changes made by Lutz.
  14. Love it! I've always kinda liked Lancias as well. What's the name of their (current, recent?) model with the kite-shaped headlights. Loved that one.
  15. Dude, none of that is punk, though Brand New is at least sorta borderline. Cartel is pop all the way--big fan over here but I'd be fascinated to know which one of their songs is the least bit punkish. Good Charlotte is about as punk as Avril Lavigne, and Paramore is definitely rock. But at least you're not listening to $h!ty music.
  16. Seems to me like it's you who's getting bent out of shape. Put another way: this is a GM board. You've been a posting member for years. You know the climate and what to expect on this site. Yet you post to complain about it. If a user is getting annoying to you, ignore their posts. But c'mon man, don't post just to bitch about the people posting here. I'm sure there is another board on the vast internet you'd enjoy more.
  17. Psht. You like to pretend you're in A&F and blast that $h! while dancing around in your ripped jeans and polos. Admit it.
  18. I call BS as well. 1-mpg penalty? So lighten up the weight some. It doesn't even have to be expensive like carbon fiber or aluminum...more like interior stuff. Carve out the seatbacks like in the Malibu or AURA...they're still perfectly comfortable. Narrow the front passenger seats slightly and have a wider console storage bin. A 5-mpg penalty would be difficult, but I don't believe for a second that GM has been around this long and cannot engineer around an alleged 1-mpg penalty.
  19. "The First Single"? Good song.
  20. Internally, CTS was originally chosen for "Catera Touring Sedan" but never publicly announced as such. STS clearly has the historical connotation of "Seville Touring Sedan" and DTS as "Deville Touring Sedan." At this point, the model designations really are just 3-letter designations, but during the transition years many within GM viewed them as abbreviations.
  21. Well, it's not so much what you are listening to that has some people concerned, it's whether or not they act on the information they get on whether the track was ripped from a CD (you assumedly possess) or pirated through a torrent or P2P device. Yes, they can tell that. I stopped using WMP for that ambiguity back in 2005 when someone on my floor brought the revised privacy policy to my attention. Back then, I was taking full advantage of USC's high speed and Morpheus/Shareaza, so I didn't want to be sued like the poor schmuck in the next dorm. Just some food for thought.
  22. If the Denali XT makes it as a RWD/AWD truck (regardless of platform) with equivalent towing capabilities, then yes I can see that happening. A wagon or anything else that's as low to the ground as a sedan, I cannot. The EXT already looks kinda like a crossover, so the evolution would work IMO. Also, the Denali XT is just too concepty for me to imagine what it would look like in a toned-down production form, but the possibility and overall shape are there. I could see this working, but the execution would have very little margin for error.
  23. I too love the idea of Chrysler and Renault. And like NOS said, Nissan is the only Japanese automaker I really respect these days. Another aspect about this synergy I like is that Renault, Chrysler and Nissan all have a history of designing creativity. Yes, Nissan's design surge is more recent, but I feel the Infiniti J30 always represented the talent at Nissan.
  24. I'm with Northie on the Escalades for the simple reason that Yukon/Tahoe/Suburban will continue to be produced and account for a lot of engineering costs while the Escalade has only a little additional engineering yet a phat price tag. Escalades are some of GM's profit machines (high margins), so it would be silly to discontinue them. Whatever happened to the cylinder deactivation? Did that make production? I could see that being in all Escalades to help fuel economy.
