HYUNDAI AZERA

Their commercials say it's more spacious than a BMW 760i. Pretty impressive in that regard...but seriously? Hyundai comparing themselves to BMW? Seriously?

12. Awesome! My USC orientation was pretty fun too...that was 2 or 3 days...I'm still friends with a couple people I met there. You ask anyone there about plans to go Greek?

But you're proving my point: GM chose to make the two extremely similar-looking even though there's no good (financial) reason for it.
14. I don't think anyone "needs" a NAV system. That said, how many Mazda3s, Accords and Camrys are ordered with one is irrelevant; the fact that it's offered is good with the image of the car. GM has pretty much made the center stacks of all its cars take the same radio units. If complete commonality can be achieved, then it wouldn't really cost GM anything to stick a NAV system in there if the customer wants it. Or GM could go the Ford route of having a dash-top storage compartment that is replaced with a NAV unit if ordered.
15. It is indeed W-body. I personally see zero CTS in the interior.

Well, look at the W-body Chinese LaCrosse. It has a straight beltline and a straight door-sill. The Grand Prix and US LaCrosse share the curved beltline and door sill. The profiles are still pretty similar. I mention the Chinese LaCrosse because it's proof that even using the W-body platform, greater styling differentiation (particularly profile styling) can be achieved.

Yea, GM's come a long way. I still think they need to go farther, though.
18. eh. GM needs more than just fancy marketing to sell these trucks. They need new interiors, more power, and more differentiation STAT!
19. WOW...I haven't heard that name in a long time! Too bad, though he did live to a pretty decent age.

The TB/Envoy/Rainier are not straight rebadges. They do not share any sheetmetal except for roof panels. Lutz said that he didn't believe that it was worth GM's while to spend such a large amount of money on product differentiation for those kind of programs when they all ended up looking essentially the same anyways. EDIT: Northie beat me to it. You are right about the GM/CV, though that is a pretty recent development. They used to have differentiated exterior styling until the last major redesign (1998?)

That's all you got? Sweet. Easiest argument I've ever won. w00t! It actually isn't a problem like that. I don't have the technical knowledge of the hybrid powertrain, but I don't believe there's a risk of that ever happening.

Mercury vehicles are not straight rebadges. The changes are pretty minimal, but there are changes in sheetmetal/styling...To me it's only a rebadge if the two cars' only points of difference are 100% interchangeable parts (same headlight/taillight shape with different detailing, body colored vs black rub strips, etc) and badging.
24. Both systems have their places. I think this is a good step, though I have the sinking feeling GM will use this as an excuse to avoid adding nav systems as options in its vehicles.

I'd never call the middle two "$h!ty." Ugly, maybe, but they are very well-made and do their job well.
