  1. I'd be far more interested in a modern reinterpretation than a strict recreation. And my vote goes to the Kappa Nomad over this overpriced, living-in-the-past special.
  2. It can seat 7 or 8. I like what I see, but honestly the overall shape is the same. A few rough details seem different, but I think the current model is a looker, and the next refresh will probably retain that.
  3. Use the Redbook. That's what dealerships use to price cars as they get traded around via auction.
  4. The main floor of my parents' house is the same way; it was built in 1933, so in that context, it isn't too bad...just no one needs "maid quarters" these days, and with an attached garage conversion, the layout of half of it seems very oddly arranged. Entryway, formal living room, and dining room are fairly open, though, and the kitchen could be too with a major renovation. I love old houses, but they definitely require a bit of investment for modern living.
  5. I find that square footage in dwellings is a lot less important than the space planning therein. I'd take a square footage cut in a new apartment versus my current one in it had a more open layout and weren't all chopped up inside. Tons of wasted space.
  6. I thought about mentioning this earlier, but he's right...LED TVs are LCDs that just happen to be backlit by LED light.
  7. 120Hz. It isn't constant, but under certain image circumstances, it's pronounced.
  8. Until GM restructures their sales channels so they stop competing with each other, it doesn't matter how many brands they have, they will fail. Simple as that.
  9. That rendering looks like a Popular Mechanics rendering, and I learned a looooooong time ago to just flat-out ignore everything they report automotive-wise. Their "scoops" are so divorced from reality it's like taking a grain of truth, translating it through three languages, sending it through a game of telephone with 14 ADHD teen girls and a nursing home full of alzheimer's patients before finally making it to print.
  10. If the new Astra has cupholders, and more of a premium feel, it will sell. Selling a last-gen product (or one model year away from being last-gen) as "new" is never a great idea.
  11. Burn-in hasn't been an issue with plasmas for over 5 years. Even if you get burn-in, just run "snow" for a few minutes and it goes away. It's still noticeable. Not as bad as they were a year or two ago, but I can't stand watching football on an LCD. And the LCD I have has a strange issue with oversaturating the color red. I've noticed this on others as well, plus LCDs just don't do blacks as well as plasmas. The Panasonic plasmas are really some of the best--incredible inky blacks.
  12. They aren't LEDs...they're incandescants. That's why they go out.
  13. Between the motion blur of LCDs, and issues with color saturation, I think I'm going to stick to Plasma. Plasmas have come down so much in price, and they last forever now, and no longer have issues with burn-in.
  14. The standard GM fix would be to replace the radio. Honestly, not worth it.

Oh yes, yes I have. I worked in a restaurant once, and could instantly relate to Naomi, as she was the composite character best representing everyone who worked at our restaurant. I love that movie.
  16. Just so you guys know, most of the liberal blogosphere and newsmedia have criticized him strongly for his viewpoint. Not even DailyKos supports it, and I think half the regular writers on there are so far out there in la-la land.

No, I just like people to follow the safe food handling protocol they are supposed to. Health Depts. exist for a reason.

Have you ever had someone waiting on you covered in dog/cat hair? I have. Gross. I don't really care about attire as long isn't a shirt that says "f@#k you for making me deliver this pizza," which I've never seen. And of course, grooming communicates something about people...and if you are working for tips, you should try to maximize your first impression, which would seem to preclude having facial hair that looks like pubes. If you're delivering/serving my food, please don't look gross, especially if you want a tip. Well that's just it, too. Some markets, like Los Angeles, are pretty expensive. By that I mean food just costs more. What might be a 15% tip for you could be the same dollar amount as a 10% tip here. Of course, in CA, tips are in addition to your minimum wage, not a part of it. So I'm much less inclined to tip more than 10% for service that isn't exceptional, since I know the employee is making at least minimum wage. Back in Indiana, this isn't the case, so I usually tip a little higher percentage...of course food is a lot cheaper there so I end up spending comparable amounts of money overall.

10% is if things are expected, 0% if they are not, 20% if exceptionally good service.

    1. I know you quit the job...but I'm suggesting you stay out of any customer service industry--it just doesn't seem to fit you well. 2. The second paragraph contained my thoughts on the subject of delivery people, and did not accuse you of anything. I don't see where I assumed anything about you, personally, since how would I possibly know? I don't live in Massachussetts. I was thinking in particular when the delivery person had me walk two blocks to a gas station because he "couldn't find my address." Apparently when I said 24th St., and he repeated it back to me, he didn't realize that "twenty-fourth" does not include the alphanumeric "23rd." Fool. 3. The "tip entitlement" rubs me the wrong way. By meeting all the prerequisites, a delivery person certainly has earned a tip, if given, but tipping is not mandatory. I don't care how nice and polite the delivery person is, if the retaurant screwed up and delivered my order an hour and a half late, I'm not spending any more money than that already charged to my card. Sucks, but if you live in a state that allows tipped employees to be paid less than minimum wage, try working for a restaurant that doesn't treat its customers like $h!. Especially if the place already levies a delivery surcharge, as I'm paying for the extra delivery expenses (assumedly) since it doesn't cost $3 to set the to-go containers on the delivery counter versus the take-out counter.

You know, there's no obligation to tip. Acting like people who don't tip are the worst people in the world just tells me you need to get out of the customer service business. There's nothing more obnoxious to me than a petulant delivery boy showing up being rude because he thought he didn't get tipped as much as he "deserved." Listen, no one cares how many near-accidents you almost got into, or how little your boss pays you. If the pizza is delivered on-time (or early!), the deliverer doesn't reek of pot, is wearing clean clothes, is well groomed, and has a polite, cheerful manner, the likelihood of a decent tip increases. Deliver late, complain about how my house numbers are hard to find/see/read when no one else has an issue with them, or act all immature/unprofessional for whatever reason...yeah prolly not going to happen. I tip if service is good, and I don't tip if it is bad. And one of the occupational hazards of working for a $h!ty company is that the company's bad service gets taken out on your tip.
