  1. This is reality and nothing good comes out of ignoring reality. To change things GM and the other two have to do something really radical. Get a great technology or feature to market first- let it be a super efficient diesel or HCCI. Make something that the customers can not buy from anybody else. I think the Volt is going to be the car that does that. But all in all I do not think that the Big Three take enough smart risks. Every new generation of the camcord is a refinement of the previous gen. There is noting radically new there, and why should there be, they are selling well. To change things you need something that breaks the mold. Think Citroen DS or maybe the original Taurus. Make something like that and they will come.
  2. Does the sixteen count (the new one). Best looking car ever IMO. Even though they built only one.
  3. I hear that GM has a prototype HCCI engine that they will show at an autoshow in 08.
  4. The grille on the finished concept is too high. Lower it and it would be OK. They put a front plate on the concept to disguise the fact. When have you ever seen a front plate on a concept car? It's a problem with the design, fix it and the next gen EP2 Buick should sell.
  5. Hopefully not ALL. I don't want their pension funds to make losses.
  6. 2020 AD. GM headquarters Shanghai. Halliburton's moving. How long do you think before other's do. If assembly line jobs go to low cost countries how long do you think it is before CEO, CFO, COO jobs do.
  7. Dont get me wrong, I love GM. But if they made cars as well as they managed portfolios they would not be in trouble. As things stand they should quit making cars and become investment bankers. Support the division that's making profits (investment banking) rather than the one making losses (manufacturing cars).
  8. From what I see this is the same size as the 08 Malibu and this will be sold in Europe as a Chevy. Why did GM waste their money on developing two cars instead of a global Malibu.
  9. Proton owns Lotus. I hope GM has the cash to do this. Could end up as big as GMDAT someday.
  10. Here is a crash test for the last gen smart fortwo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xtRNAWHMS0 That thing is a lot tougher than it looks. Slow thoough.
  11. Corvette Z06 is in the running. See what happens... Wow!!!
  12. Wow! Thanks. This car is awesome. I wonder if they are going to price it against the 3 series or the 5 series.
  13. It's the Eagle Jazz concept car with the hatchback/sedan combo rear end.
  14. It looks like Chevy tried something risky and innovative and it worked. Good article from wired. http://wired.com/wired/archive/14.12/tahoe.html
  15. Good news! http://www.autocar.co.uk/news_article.asp?na_id=223025
  16. IMO insideline read too much into Bob Lutz's comments about the 1 series, I think all Bob was saying was that a small RWD car (not necessarily as small as the 1-series) can generate volume. A 3-series rivalling vehicle makes more sense. I think it will be more in the lines of the Holden Torana. The 1-series is selling because of the BMW badge but a rear wheel drive vehicle that small creates a lot of compromises space wise. I doubt Cadillac can compete in that market. After Cadillac has a truly world beating lineup (3-series, E class, S class) maybe but not now.
  17. Liked the article very much. Finally someone who understands the car market writing about cars. Clear analysis without much bias. I think Chevy should replace the Trailblazer with a Lambda based Trailblazer. I don't think most customers would notice. The boat towing crowd can stick with the Tahoe. And it's not as if the Lambdas will have no towing capacity at all. I should think 3000-4000 lbs would be possible.
  18. Check this out. http://popularhotrodding.com/features/0606...ro_concept_car/
  19. "The Ford Fusion has a 55-percent female primary driver penetration." Bad choice of words.
  20. Great ! A ferrari that gets outdated in 3 years. Besides why pay for carbon fibre on what is rapidly becoming a disposable item.
  21. Considering how big a disaster the Aztec is I think it is good that not many people know who made it. Gives Pontiac a fresh start. I would not drive that thing if somebody gave me one for free although I am seriously poor.
  22. Makes a few good and bad points. http://www.nationalreview.com/nrof_comment...00512080857.asp
  23. Whatever the final details end up looking like, I think GM would do well with a modern V8 RWD sedan in NA. I really don't understand GM's product planning people. This is the kind of car that made GM great- V8, RWD, good looks add great driving dynamics and you have a winner. Plus this car is being developed in house. All GM needs is to retool plants. Build this and they will be running plants 3 shifts/day not shutting them down. But, noooooooo ....
