  1. I like it better than the current Aura, which has ugly headlights and is too angular in my opinion. Of course, it's not a real Saturn without dent resistant doors! I'm still waiting for someone to build a plastic car...
  2. Just curious, did Pontiac ever replace the granite metallic color that it discontinued? I bought a Subaru Legacy a few months ago, so I'm no longer in the market for a car, but I was just curious...
  3. I think it's a sweet looking car! Maybe if a midsize FWD V-6 coupe looked like that, it'd sell. I just don't think too many people are looking for an expensive gas guzzling muscle car, and those who are tend to buy German cars.
  4. A) Because they took my beloved dent resistant polymer panels away from Saturn :AH-HA_wink: B) Because what company would just out of nowhere decide to discontinue gray, a fairly popular color? That's ridiculous. I was very serious about ordering a G6 GTP in granite metallic, too! C) GM still seems to be playing catchup to the imports, at least when it comes to cars. Maybe they're just putting too much focus on trucks and SUV's, but how about some cars that come out ahead of the Camry and Accord for a change, instead of cars that are always a day late and a dollar short? I happened to see the March 2007 Consumer Reports the other day...neither the G6 nor the Aura were exactly head of the pack in that review. Consumer Reports aside, I do like the G6, having rented a couple for extended periods of time. And I think it's one of the best looking sedans on the road, though the Subaru Legacy GT is my favorite car currently being sold. But the G6 definitely could use an interior upgrade. Maybe I'll just look for another cheap used Saturn SL2 to replace the one that got totalled. It'll save me a lot of money, and I'll still have a car that can withstand shopping cart impacts and such without ugly dents!
  5. Okay, if nobody here knows, what's my best bet? Call a Pontiac dealer and ask? Nobody on any message board seems to know what the deal is with gray returning as a color choice. I'm kind of fed up with GM...maybe I'll just buy something else.
  6. Okay, so my car just got totalled by a falling tree! Any idea if this steel gray metallic will be available within, say, the next month? Why would they discontinue granite metallic before the replacement was ready? Grrrr....
  7. To each his own, but if the G6 keeps outselling the Aura, then there's no way they should kill the G6 in favor of the Aura.
  8. No way! I'm actually thinking about buying a G6 GTP. I will not consider an Aura, as I can't stand the awkward looking headlights and the smiley face nose treatment. I also don't care for the Aura's many spoke wheels. The G6 looks a lot sleeker and sportier, imo.
  9. Cool, thanks! Any idea when it will be available?
  10. Has the granite metallic color been discontinued on the Pontiac G6? I don't see it as a choice on the Pontiac website anymore.
  11. I think the G6 is the only sedan in that group that looks sleek and well proportioned. The new Malibu doesn't look as streamlined with its larger, more vertical C pillar. And I hate the chrome trim and the smiley face nose of the Saturn Aura. That enlarged bucktooth grille on the 2008 G6 GXP looks awful, though. If that's what the G6 will look like, count me out! What is it with exaggerated proportions, especially on headlights and grilles, these days?
  12. That's too bad. The G6 is one of the few FWD sedans I actually like. I want a sporty sedan, but one that I can drive in the winter! I have no interest in RWD cars. Would be nice to have some sporty front wheel drive sedans in the lineup in the future...
  13. Did Pontiac eliminate granite metallic as a color choice on the G6? Was sort of thinking about buying a G6, but that's the color I'd have gotten - don't see it on the Pontiac website anymore...
  14. I'd like the Aura more if it weren't for the smiley face nose and bugeye headlights. But the review bodes well for the Pontiac G6 GTP, which will offer the same powertrain in a sleeker package! I'm tempted to buy one of those, but I don't know if I can bring myself to trade in my dent resistant Saturn SL2 on a far more expensive car that I know will get dings and dents.
  15. I guess it's a little different when a car company never offered the feature in the first place, vs one that did and then said, "F*** you" to its customers who liked the feature and took it away to save money.
  16. For me, it's the huge grille and bugeye headlights that I can't stand. I like a sleek, low profile nose like that of the Mazda 6. Also, I'm not a big fan of chrome trim. I find it to be gaudy. And as a former Saturn fan, I'm disappointed in the lack of polymer body panels. A few months ago when I was looking to replace my 1997 Saturn SL2, I was tempted to buy a Pontiac G6. But instead, I purchased a used 2000 Saturn SL2. I'm glad I did. On top of the money I saved, the polymer panels have already saved me from at least a couple of minor dents. Had I bought a new G6, it would already have a couple of ugly scars on it.
  17. So, I'm not the only person in the world who thinks so! :AH-HA_wink: It looks like a Chrysler Cirrus to me, especially with those wheels.
  18. To me, the Aura looks just like those earlier Chrysler cars, except with ugly oversized headlights.
  19. Does the Honda Civic have beam axle or IRS? The new Civic coupes are sharp! The Civic coupe and the Mazda 3 sedan are my two favorite small cars. But I wish there was something that offered dent resistant panels! Not a single new car on the market will hold up as well, cosmetically, as my old Saturn.
  20. I don't care for the headlights and nose of either the Vectra or the Aura. I dislike the disproportionately large headlight assemblies and the smiley face look with that grille design. I prefer a sleeker, lower profile nose like that of the Mazda 6, with its narrow headlamps and sleek shape. But as for features, the Aura is close to having everything it should. Two notable exceptions are manual transmission (I thought this was supposed to be a performance oriented car) and navigation system. Xenon lights...eh, I suppose. Those are becoming more common. Personally, I won't buy any of the new "Saturns" without dent resistant body panels. I think I'll stick with my SL2 until someone else comes out with a car that won't get unsightly dents from simple shopping cart impacts or doors opening into the side of my car in parking lots.
  21. Just do what Lutz does. Say, "screw them!"
  22. It looks better from that angle, I'll admit. I don't really like how they did the Nissan Altima thing and cheated on the rear door's window, with that filler piece behind where the glass ends. But mainly, I find the front end to be ugly. I still think the headlights are too large, and I don't like the grinning look that the grille gives the car, or the chrome strip for that matter. Overall, I still like the Pontiac G6 a lot better! It just looks sleeker and more sporty.
  23. You can tell what the nose is going to look like. I despise oversized headlights, big grilles, and gaudy chrome. Take a look at that Pontiac Grand Prix picture in the previous post. That's what I like! Low, sleek, well proportioned, and mean looking!
  24. I wish they'd offer the same features on the G6, because it's a better looking car! The Aura doesn't look very sleek to me with that ungainly nose. I like low profile, understated, sleek and well proportioned vehicles. What's the point of keeping Saturn if it's no longer different? GM has too many divisions. There's no point in keeping Saturn if it isn't going to be unique. I'd be driving a G6 right now if it came with dent resistant body panels. I almost bought one, but I couldn't bring myself to spend over 20 grand on a car that would get ugly dings after a few trips to the supermarket parking lot, so I bought a used Saturn SL2 instead. The way GM is going, that's probably going to be my last GM purchase ever.
  25. I hope that GM goes bankrupt and that some other automaker adds dent resistant body panels, since GM said "screw you" to those Saturn buyers who wanted that feature!
