  1. Why does everyone insist on defending the HHR? Is it just because of it's retro style?
  2. The same engine will be going into the Blue Devil Corvette, but will be making about 650hp. I see no reason why GM couldn't give that to the CTS-V if necessary when BMW comes out with their 600hp M5. More speeds does not always equal more performance. Everytime the transmission shifts, no power is being sent to the wheels.
  3. I see it too. I think if someone slapped a T on the grille everyone here would think it is one of the ugliest trucks.
  4. I'd have to agree with enzl in this case. I never liked the HHR, and I never liked the PT Cruiser either. How will it be updated? It sells because it is cheap, offers some utility, is less outdated than the PT Cruiser, and is less ugly than a xB.
  5. I'm willing to bet the G8 GXP will not have AFM as well.
  6. I just want to see how this engine does when being tested. The non-SC LSx engines are already praised for having power at any RPM. I can only imagine what the SC-intercooled LS engine will be like. My car has plenty of power even in 6th gear at 1500-2000 RPMS.
  7. I believe the additional hardware necessary for VCM increases the valvetrain weight, even when all cylinders are firing. This causes it to not rev up as quickly, which means the car will be slower. I believe that is also the reason GM does not use it on every car that has a V8, like the CTS-V, Corvette, GTO. It is used on the G8, though you can see the power figures are down on that car as well, but I'm not sure if it has the same tuning as the 6.0L in my GTO or not.
  8. The US has sales equivalent to 30+ countries. Shouldn't that count for something?
  9. Why would GM kill Pontiac(the cars only division) when it is paired with GMC(the trucks only division) and keep Buick(cars and trucks)? It doesn't make any sense. Pontiac sold 24,xxx cars, Chevy sold 50,xxx cars, and Buick sells less than 10,000 cars.
  10. Link didn't work, try this November Sales Interesting that Pontiac sells near 50% the car volume Chevy does, but appears to be the next in line to be killed(tick-tock?)
  11. So how would you feel if someone takes away your car, and says your not allowed to drive it anymore? Turns the electricity and heat off in your house and hands you candles and a blanket? Why should someone else have control over telling me how I should live, what I should drive, and how much I should drive? Who decides how much should be "enough"?
  12. So I go from 400hp down to what.... around 210? No thanks. If a get a BMW, it will be a 335Ci.
  13. Well, I don't really like sedans and I don't like FWD. Even if I get a CTS, I won't get 30mpg. Even a 325Ci won't get me 30mpg.
  14. I live 35 miles from my work. Houses where I live are under $200k. Houses close to downtown Phoenix are over $300k. There is no mass transit system that goes to my city. I'm not going to drive a Yaris because someone tells me I should.
  15. I think it's because it increases the valvetrain weight, so they can't rev as high or as quickly.
  16. My 400hp V8 car didn't have the gas guzzler tax.
  17. If anyone loans money to you, you will definately need a co-signer. If not be prepared to pay very high interest rates. Banks look at things based on risk. Having no credit history can be worse than having bad credit history. You are definately better off saving for a while, and putting a good amount down.
  18. Sounds like good competition for the Camaro. There can never be enough choices when it comes to cars like Challengers and Camaros.
  19. Avis called, they said they want you to return their Grand Prix.
  20. Or worse yet, a Yaris.
  21. The Volt can't be produced now, the battery technology isn't there yet. And even if every car was a plug in hybrid, it would still just be shifting the power from gas, to electric from everyones houses. That electricity needs to be generated somehow. Once that happens, home electricity use will be the next target. We will have regulations on how much electricity we can use. Where will it end?
  22. We don't have the technology now. And people will still be forced to buy smaller cars, because it is cheaper to make a small car get 55mpg than a suv/large car. Sports cars, large cars, suvs, and trucks will be priced out of the majorities price range, and small cars will move up in price/technology. When the public supports these increase in CAFE, I wonder if they really understand what it will mean for them, or if they think the automakers will pull all this magic technology out their a$$es to make their current cars get 55mpg. If car makers could make Tahoes, Escapes, 300s, etc all get 55mpg, and still offer it around the same price, they would have done it already. I can see it now. Most of the people supporting raising CAFE to 55mpg are going to be the same people complaining cars are so expensive compared to the good old days.
  23. Does it really matter if GM doesn't increase it's sales? If GM is selling better cars, with less going to fleet, at a higher price, but overall still selling less cars, is that really a bad thing? If GM is selling better cars, they are just positioning themselves better in the future, with a better image, and down the road they may be able to increase sales. If they can manage to make some money while doing it, that would be even better. Toyota can be #1 in sales. That wouldn't mean they have the best cars. What Toyota can you honestly say is best in class?
  24. I think Lutz was just predicting much more growth outside the US, not stating US sales would decline. At the rate of growth by both the market as a whole in China and India, and GM's growth within those markets, that statement doesn't appear to be too far off. The only way for GM's US % of sales to not decrease when compared to GM's growth globally outside the US, would be for sales in the US to grow by more than 5% yearly. If GM sells 4 million vehicles in the US, with a 5% annual increase over 10 years, GM would need to increase sales by 2.5 million, which is highly unlikely for any automaker, including Toyota.
  25. None of the above. If I had to pick, I would pick Impala. 3.5L makes more power, and will get better gas mileage. I would actually take a 500/Taurus or 300/Charger over all 3 choices.
