  1. You can also get a new lemon also, so I don't see how that's relevant. Of course not everyone wants a used car, that's why new cars sell. You can't deny that you can find more desirable, low mileage used cars, for the same price as less desirable new cars. And my GTO has never come close to getting 14 mpg. I averaged 21, and got as high as 27 on a longer trip. Lowest I EVER got, was 18.5, when driven hard frequently.
  2. Used cars can be reliable too. Instead of buying a new Fit, or Cobalt, you can buy a used GTO for around the same price right now. You can buy a used Mini for $12k-$14k with low miles.
  3. I agree, I would never shop for a subcompact when I could get a good compact for the same price, with the exception of the Mini. That's also why I prefer to buy used. You can get a much better car for the same price.
  4. See, that's another reason why manuals are safer than automatics. Step on the clutch and take it out of gear. No computer system can override that.
  5. Considering the times, I would consider any profit a good thing. GM was burning through a billion a month at that time.
  6. Look at it's competetion. Would you rather have an Aveo, Rio, Versa, or Yaris? Given those choices, the Fit seems like a great car.
  7. Exactly. There are people biased towards each brand. GM probably still gets a lot of sales just because they are American, and people feel they are the better car for that reason alone. Can anyone honestly say the Aveo is better than the Fit? Not unless they are biased.
  8. Just remember everyone, you are comparing Hyundai, entry level, cheap, to all of GM, which includes Buick, Cadillac, GMC, Chevy. Either way, they are both bad. Compare fleet sales to a bigger player, like Honda or Toyota. Don't call out other companies for something GM is historically notorious for.
  9. I would prefer the GTO over a C5 Corvette. You can get them for the same price or cheaper, usually with lower miles, and a few years newer. The interior is nicer, and there is only a small difference in performance. And I feel like the LS2 is superior to both the LS1 and LS6.
  10. How is the STS and DTS doing good? The DTS was up over last month, but down compared to last year. ~1500 sales is good?
  11. Actually, based on this August sales GM's fleet sales are about 23%, and that was during the C4C month. And if fleet sales decrease by 43%, and retail sales decrease by 46%, the fleet percentage actually goes up slightly.
  12. You shouldn't talk about fleet sales when GM's fleet sales are probably just as high.
  13. Diesels have to be geared higher, since their redline is much lower than a gas engine. If you gear it too low, the top speed would be much lower.
  14. Almost, but not quite. While it is a very impressive car, I'm looking to move foward in performance from my GTO, not backward. The 335d does the 1/4 mile in 14.1 sec and 0-60 in 6 sec. I would prefer to have a pure sports car, even if it only gets 20mpg, and have a second car to use for commuting. And if I'm spending $44,000 or more on a car, it's going to be a Cayman or used 911 turbo.
  15. Are there any diesel cars that do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds or the 1/4 mile in 13 seconds? I doubt a diesel G8 would be that quick. I wouldn't mind a diesel as a commuter car, because it still has better performance than hybrids while getting great gas mileage, but for my fun car, I just don't see diesel having as much performance as I would like.
  16. That's great, but for me, I want performance somewhere along the lines of my GTO. The only car that comes close, while getting good mpg(still not 40mpg) is the Elise, and I doubt I would fit comfortably in it.
  17. Living in Arizona, where it's sunny 99% of the year, I think they should put solar panels on everything.
  18. I'm already fairly flexible. I love V8s, but I'll accept a V6 and love turbo V6s. I want a lighter car, as light as possible, as long as I fit in it comfortably. I'd consider a turbo 4 if it can meet my performance requirements, although I hate how they sound. I don't want a 2 ton car, but I also don't think every car should be required to get 40mpg either.

  20. My choices would be: Another GTO 350Z G35 coupe 911 turbo Cayman Lotus Espirit if you could find one Or if you want something older, a 300ZX turbo
  21. Yes, I believe it would. I like the features and looks inside of modern cars, which most likely 99.9% of the population does as well. Why can't we have a retro car, that's completely modern except for the exterior?
  22. So crappy looks = Camaro? Then yes, the interior should not look like a Camaro. It's no longer 1970. I want an interior that fits in with current times.
  23. Subsitute a HO 3.6L for the turbo 4cyl, and that's a car that could bring me back to GM. Under 3000lbs probably isn't realistic, but anything under 3400lbs would be acceptable.
  24. Just because someone like's RWD/V8/manual/coupes, doesn't mean they like ugly retro interiors. That was the excuse when GM's truck had crappy interiors. It's a truck, those buyers don't care. Well guess what, they do. Look at truck interiors now. It doesn't need to have the best quality materials at that price point, but it does actually have to look decent. Why couldn't GM match the GTO/G8 interior with the Camaro exterior?
  25. So your saying GM should keep the same strategy they have had over the past 20 years. Great idea. Some of us don't like wood in cars, don't want a car as high as a truck, want a manual transmission, and like less chrome or even no chrome. Everything you said is how to lose more Pontiac buyers, not get them back.
