  1. So true and for an auto that requires Premium fuel and only has the HP / Torque is sad in todays Turbo 300 crowd on regular fuel.
  2. Agreed, other than Tesla, the Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf are it as far as global EVs and even then Nissan still does not have their long range out yet so you have Tesla 3 or Chevrolet Bolt.
  3. I would give ya the laugh emoji too for your post if I could, cause what you posted is what I was also thinking. Quirky, Eccentric and Different, but NOT Luxury.
  4. For one, the majority of people are NOT Performance People. As such, many just like the style and design of the Auto which is proved out in how well Dodge continues to sell. I honestly have not seen many Challengers in rental fleets. Chargers and 300 yes. I do agree with you that it would be interesting to see the break out for Chrysler / Dodge products in fleet sales to normal retail sales. As is proven by the continued sales, one does NOT have to always start over with a new base to continue to build a decent product that customers like. FCA has clearly as @Drew Dowdell and others pointed out take and replaced old designs with new design parts that have improved greatly the quality of the 300 and dodge cars. If they had not, we would not have the Hellcat or Demon that has done so well in those cars. Change for the sake of change is not always needed or desired. One could easily challenge why Mercedes-Benz left the straight 6 for the V6 and now is back to it. We have all seen silky smooth engines on both engine types. As such, is this just to make the world think they have something new when they really do not have their electric auto's which will truly be different ready for the market? I honestly do not care for many non american auto's but I respect them all. One has to respect what Dodge and Chrysler has done with what they have and the billions they have made even if it was wrongly taken away and put into a name brand that I think is a waste of money.
  5. But, But, But it was based on a SAAB? ?
  6. I get that but the doppler effect does affect the sound and while sound is faster than a Harley, the pipes would still need to be pointed forward for best effect supporting loud noise saves lives and as the fire trucks prove out, their siren is pointed forward. I still stand by that the noise of the pipes does not save lives as much as proper bright visible garments and auto driver attention to bike riders. But I get the point you and everyone else is saying. I still say that Loud pipes save lives is as foolish as costing lives.
  7. Let's start with some basic physics and a little rationality. Your exhaust is pointed backwards and by the nature of you traveling forward, you're actually leaving the sound behind you as you move forward. If that concept is confusing, think of the sound of a fire truck passing you with its siren blaring. The siren is pointed forward because the purpose is to warn driver’s the truck is approaching from behind. The next time you hear one coming, notice that it’s louder when it’s coming toward you than when it’s going away. The one comprehensive, reliable study of motorcycle crashes in this country is the well known "Hurt Report," Harry Hurt and his team found that 64.9 percent of multiple-vehicle motorcycle crashes were the fault of the car driver and “the typical accident in this category is portrayed by the automobile in traffic turning left into the path of the oncoming motorcycle.” That means the bigger danger is still ahead, not behind, but most of the racket from loud pipes is just pissing off the people behind you, while doing very little to warn those in front of you. You know what does help people notice you? Wearing hi-viz gear, adding auxiliary lighting to your bike, and upgrading your horn are all great ways to make your presence known. Not only do they do a better job than an aftermarket exhaust, but they also cost a lot less. This is found on many articles addressing the Loud Pipes Save Lives debate. Excellent Read about Loud Pipes: http://canadamotoguide.com/2016/07/29/the-truth-about-loud-pipes/
  8. In places with old electric infrastructure, this makes total sense. I can see this also in 3rd world areas with the grid is marginal at best with blackouts, so being able to send power back into the grid makes sense. Hot areas that have brownouts like southern california makes perfect sense for this too. Like the story says, standards is the achilles heel that can hurt this. Be interesting to see what comes of it.
  9. Get well, the crud and flu are going around. Take care my friend and get strong again!
  10. Nope, loud pipes cost lives, I see more people freak out due to the abusive noise of Harley's and be it pedestrians or drivers, the bikes still get hit. Tuned pipes is different, but the idiot Harley crowd seems to think ear breaking noise is best, must be deaf most of them anyway.
  11. Nope, did not miss that at all, just pointing out a different kind of Demon that has better low center of gravity due to the battery pack in the skateboard concept that should give even better track grip. I see both ICE and EV Demon having a place on the auto lot.
  12. Whether you agree or disagree, Forbes is saying that the data is showing an end to Apple as you know it. With Apples cheapest phone costing $1,149 today compared to when it debuted in 2007, the price you paid has soared over 700% in 12 years. 2002 was the last time Apple slashed forecasted earnings and the stock has been punished since then falling 35% since it's peak in November 2018. This erased $446 Billion in Shareholder value, the biggest wipe-out of wealth in a single stock ever since stock trading began. Per Forbes, since 2001 Apple has had steady revenue growth and by this measure the business seems perfectly healthy. Looking under the hood is a different story all together. iPhone sales peaked in 2015 and to compare the completed 2018 year to 2015, Apple sold 14 million phones fewer. Key pieces to take into account from this story is as follows: 2010 iPhone 4 cost $199 2014 iPhone 6 cost $299 2019 iPhone cheapest model cost $1,149 a 500% price hike from 8 years ago. Technology is supposed to be all about getting cheaper, yet Apple has done the opposite, reduced sales, but increased prices. Example of this is the TV business where years ago it cost thousands and thousands of dollars for a large flat-screen high definition TV and today you can get a 55 inch version from your local retailers for around $500. Cell phone prices have come down roughly 92% in contrast to Apples 500% increase. In 1984 Motorola sold their first cell phone for $4,000 and now the average price of a smartphone is $320 according to IDC research firm. As Forbes states and I agree, it is amazing Apple has pulled this off and yet the future is not looking bright for them. Life-cycle disruption is coming from both China startups and Korea especially Samsung. 12 years ago research showed that only 120 million people had cell phones and today over 5 billion have cell phones. An exploding growth market is reaching maturity and getting people to fork over $1,000 or even $1,500 dollars ever couple years for a new phone when equal quality products from other vendors at a fraction of the price is going to be hard to do. Apple has responded by announcing they would stop disclosing iPhone unit sales and they are going to no longer report average transaction price. Share holders deserve to know the facts of what is being shipped and prices per unit. iPhone generates 2/3 rds of Apples overall Sales. Let that sink in that a publicly traded company is no longer telling it's investors how many phones it sells. With a stagnant product line and no real growth, Apples business is going no where under current leadership. If Apple was to cut prices to 2016 levels, it would have to sell 41 million additional phones to match 2018 revenue. In 2007 Nokia was the Cell Phone King with over a Billion cell phones sold that year and the question was Can Anyone Catch the Cell Phone King? Nokia is only now attempting to start over from the ashes of the original company. Is Apple heading in that same direction? https://www.forbes.com/sites/stephenmcbride1/2019/01/21/the-end-of-apple/#523ee1896dc0
  13. Lovely Asian woman and Cadillacs, What is not to love! Some Day, I want to visit the Tokyo, Seoul and Beijing auto shows.
  14. I made some serious changes including daily working out last year as at 51 I thought about all my grandparents who lived into their late 90's, some physically well and some not so. I want to live life to the fullest so that means a nice Cadillac or other luxury activity auto to drive and my being physically fit. Working out means I get to eat bigger variety and drink what I want all in moderation. Rock it! my friends and live a full life.
  15. Yes for an ICE it is, No reason to not give up the noise and fumes and have a Demon 2.0 that can strike in the night in stealthy quietness.
  16. She was smokin hot for her time, Great face, small everything else if you like woman that way! In regards to Cadillac, I really Hope they DO NOT go down the road of EV weirdness like the Qoros from China that came out. This is like a hell baby of crossbreeding Cadillac with Nissan.
  17. This is called Mid-Life Crisis, Buy yourself something special that you desire as you only have about 47 more years to live based on medical of more and more living to 100.
  18. I find it interesting that we do not see the attack on electric bikes of various sizes the way a battle is going on over electrification of cars, CUVs, SUVs and trucks. Interesting ?
  19. The kids would love it I bet.
  20. Plus Tesla has proven what a proper P100D could do, I can so see a New Demon Challanger destroying the Tesla and the Mustang and Camaro if done right. Cool
  21. I bet the bulk of these will be in private car service. I would be surprised if any ended up in just normal private ownership service. Thinking on this, I bet they could easily keep this going with a 250-300 production a year. This would truly give special ownership to a conti of this style and build.
  22. Totally agree, when my son was part of the USA Gymnastics program, just way too many competitions across the US, so we always drove everywhere except if on the East Coast. That had me doing between 30-40K miles a year. Once the kids were gone and out of college, dropped to 15K miles a year on average as my wife and I still love road trips.
  23. ? Now where did I store that self regeneration fuel cell I have been holding onto till the right time to kill the oil companies and make myself the newest Billionaire.
  24. Same with me, I end up with 15-20K miles a year on an auto, so leasing will never work for me either. Plus once you go over their 10 or 12K mile program the 15K is just as expensive as buying at least here in Seattle it seems.
  25. My friend I totally agree with you in regards to wood working, but then we are not talking the amazing fine craft of wood working or knife making such as Shun knifes that I bought for my wife. The Shun Knife company from Japan has been building all knifes the same way as they did their first Samurai Swords over 800+ years ago. Some things do get perfected and really there is no reason to change on certain types of fine craftsmanship. Auto's on the other hand are a tad bit more complex and do evolve. That is the focus much like buildings that eventually loose their usefulness due to improved building methods. Why do I still have my original bedroom set from when I was a child, something my great grandfather had. It is quality Hard wood dovetail built. I have not found any modern build furniture that can match it. So I get having things of quality that can last when taken care of, but auto's for the most part wear out and have to be replaced and moving forward with future better ways to build an auto over living with one way in the past is my thinking in my response. If we never improved things, we would still be using lead paint, leaded gas and dying much younger.
