Real Cadillac station wagon. I have to give Kudos to the guy who took a 2 door Tahoe and grafted the front end onto it. Would love a modern day version of this.

Would so love to see that!

WOW ? The price is crazy. lovely car thow

Yes I am a fan of Cadillac but their CT & XT is Bullshit. I disagree with much that the now gone idiot leader did. Quality building should always be job one for every auto OEM out there. Cadillac has a rich history and we need to stop the madness of following what the Germans are doing. Bring back the Eldorado, Brougham and many other great name plates. Ignore the crazy like numbering that was Cadillac of 1904 to 1950. Focus on giving us the great concepts they have shown off. I see no reason to now have as @smk4565 has stated a compact, mid and large CUV plus Escalade, Escalade ESV, in both regular, sport and V editions for all products. But use the rich history of names to set Cadillac apart. Why not have the Fleetwood, Fleetwood Brougham, DeVille, Coupe DeVille, etc. There is no reason to not also bring out the concepts as a La Salle Roadster would be nice or the Imaj, Elmiraj, Escala, Converj. We have had many of us state that Lincoln was right to go back to their roots with the Continental regardless if we like the car or not, Cadillac needs to do the same. Cadillac has history that people around the world remember of the rich names, not the German bland boring letters / numbers. Let the Germans have their naming system. Let the Americans have their names of richness in building quality competitive products.

VW News: 2019 Volkswagen Golf Downsizes Its Engine
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Volkswagen
The scramble to keep from getting hit for fuel efficiency while they work to bring out their modular plug-in hybrids, electrics and off load the diesel legacy bits. -
Other than class size, there is minimal differences between one over the other priced next model up. Call it a roadster or cabriolet it is the same convertible with trim differences. @Cubical-aka-Moltar I agree on a full portfolio of putting a blah model into every size category but I would not call it diverse in that from A to S they all look the same, pretty much all have the same interior to exterior. Exception is their AMG line that does nicely stand out from the rest and the custom order version of the S-class. Rest of the product line up , most people cannot tell the difference between.

I will say this is much better than any previous version of the Camry in looks. Yet I see they have started to use the Predator mouth on Toyota making Lexus and Toyota look the same again. This could also be a move to give Lexus a new look and Toyota moves onto the old Lexus look. No matter what, while this is the best this car has ever looked, it still would not get me to buy it. BLAH.

Why bother, you do not see duplication as well as SMK you guys see nothing but perfection in MB with all their excessive versions of auto's and blah style excluding AMG. you guys seem to see nothing wrong with MB much how people saw Cadillac in the 80's before their complete bust. excluding size, the minuscule amount of sales in the all convertibles to sedans, etc. shows why Parent Daimler broke up the company, they see weakness and my gut tells me they are making changes behind the scenes as I suspect you will see a reduction in product versions. No company is perfect and the Americans especially so. Germans are where America was in the 70's to 80's. history is repeating itself and the Germans are about to implode but you guys do not see it, enjoy your rosy glasses of German superiority.

So the CVT is a profit move for a cheaper transmission. Sadly it will also give a bad impression since they suck. Wish GM would have not done this.

Industry News: Mahindra Fights Back Against FCA's Complaint
G. David Felt replied to William Maley's topic in Industry News
Thinking on this, maybe the point of FCA lawsuit is they realize money is on the table due to the success of say Yamaha ATV's and people wanting a bit bigger. So creating an off road Jeep ATV that they sell for 15-20K dollars is a great idea, but late to the party when you have a 10K Mahindra already here.- 13 replies

https://chargedevs.com/newswire/california-mayors-call-for-100-zero-emission-buses-by-2040/ Charged EVS is reporting that the mayors of California cities have proposed to the state transit agencies to convert 100% of public buses to zero emission by 2040 as part of their Innovative Clean Transit (ICT) initiative. 39 transit agencies in the state currently have over 130 buses that have over 200 mile range that run successfully showing that they can remove all emission polluting buses from city streets. With this push, it will pull along other states that want cleaner mass transit and ignore the push by a current administration that is more oil based supporting than clean air.

Penn State Research Penn State Nickel foil fast charging battery diagram To quote their abstract with significance: Significance Range anxiety is a key reason that consumers are reluctant to embrace electric vehicles (EVs). To be truly competitive with gasoline vehicles, EVs should allow drivers to recharge quickly anywhere in any weather, like refueling gasoline cars. However, none of today’s EVs allow fast charging in cold or even cool temperatures due to the risk of lithium plating, the formation of metallic lithium that drastically reduces battery life and even results in safety hazards. Here, we present an approach that enables 15-min fast charging of Li-ion batteries in any temperatures (even at −50 °C) while still preserving remarkable cycle life (4,500 cycles, equivalent to >12 y and >280,000 miles of EV lifetime), thus making EVs truly weather-independent. Abstract Fast charging is a key enabler of mainstream adoption of electric vehicles (EVs). None of today’s EVs can withstand fast charging in cold or even cool temperatures due to the risk of lithium plating. Efforts to enable fast charging are hampered by the trade-off nature of a lithium-ion battery: Improving low-temperature fast charging capability usually comes with sacrificing cell durability. Here, we present a controllable cell structure to break this trade-off and enable lithium plating-free (LPF) fast charging. Further, the LPF cell gives rise to a unified charging practice independent of ambient temperature, offering a platform for the development of battery materials without temperature restrictions. We demonstrate a 9.5 Ah 170 Wh/kg LPF cell that can be charged to 80% state of charge in 15 min even at −50 °C (beyond cell operation limit). Further, the LPF cell sustains 4,500 cycles of 3.5-C charging in 0 °C with <20% capacity loss, which is a 90× boost of life compared with a baseline conventional cell, and equivalent to >12 y and >280,000 miles of EV lifetime under this extreme usage condition, i.e., 3.5-C or 15-min fast charging at freezing temperatures. According to another site, this new design only adds a 0.5% weight and a 0.04% to the cost while adding a breakthrough that frees battery design from other tradeoffs till such time that solid state batteries become practical in production and cost. The biggest challenge that this helps solve is what has been called the Goldilocks zone. Cooling is important but so is heating of a battery so that it is in that perfect optimized temperature to accept the maximum charging into the battery cell. Currently OEMs are using either air or liquid to get the just right zone of charging for their auto battery. Between solid state breakthroughs and continued research such as this, one could see much faster charging times and longer ranges in all weather conditions to getting an EV running all over regardless of what mother nature throws at it. MB Brand covers Chevy versions to luxury versions and they are watering down their brand as a luxury line with the excessive duplication at every level. They are the king right now from a brand standpoint but I see them already dropping as their ATP is not what it used to be, people are confused as to what they want to be. They would have been better off doing a low to mid level brand line under a different name. I have to question if Mercedes-benz will be the same company in 10 years.

Do you remember what the price was? I took a look at the local GMC dealer here and was shocked to see most of the trucks were all Denali from be it a 1 ton or half ton and they ran from $68K to $79K. WOW, that is crazy pricing.

Amazing Tesla airborne, misses sticking the landing and ends in jail. The police sure have taken a jolly attitude about it on their site. Ack, Stupidest thing ever having a car like this.
