  1. I have to say that I am liking the Performance versions of both Hyundai and Kia SUVs.
  2. Disagree vote is just too strong with the red down arrow, but I just have never really gotten into Bugatti and especially the watches just are Blah weird to me. Guess I am just too simple for something too complex.
  3. OK @trinacriabob tossed me for a fall as I missed Hot August Nights 2023 as I was looking for the other title. @Drew Dowdell Anyway to merge this thread I opened into this older existing thread? August 2023 Auto Spotting Thread - The Lounge - Cheers & Gears (cheersandgears.com) Have to say that I am impressed with EVgo charging stations and I see many Chevrolets, Fords and Hyundai/Kia EVs using them here in my area.
  4. For those that like all black, Ford has a Platinum Black Edition of the Ford F150 Lightning pickup in Matte Black. F-150 Lightning Platinum Black Edition (shorthandstories.com)
  5. Two really good reads that I wanted to share here: Charged EVs | EV charging is changing, Part 1: How automakers' disappointment in Electrify America drove them into Tesla’s arms - Charged EVs Charged EVs | EV charging is changing, Part 2: No, NACS is not today’s Tesla connector - Charged EVs
  6. Totally disagree with you that by the time the Ultium Bolt comes out, the price will still be the entry level price point in the product roadmap. Buying ICE today is like building a horsebarn in the early 1900's, time to move forward with the ages especially when EV is not that expensive when you look at the ATP of what people are paying for ICE Trucks. ATP or average transaction price for GM, Ford and RAM for trucks are as follows:Q2 2023 ATP GMC Sierra - $71,924 Ram 1500 - $68,273 Ford F-series - $66,013 Toyota Tundra - $63,232 Chevy Silverado - $59,588 GMC Pickups ATP Highest In Full-Size Segment In Q2 2023 (gmauthority.com) FUD on the whole EVs are too expensive when you look at the ATP of ICE autos.
  7. Just like this story, buying an ICE auto is pretty much like building a horse barn in the early 1900's as auto's took off on sales and the build out of gas stations was underway. https://www.autoevolution.com/news/buying-a-gas-powered-car-in-2030-will-be-like-building-a-horse-barn-in-1910-rivian-ceo-220253.html Wife is wanting to go check out the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Rivian, so might get out there this coming weekend and see if I fit. I do love the fact that the Ioniq 5 gets an N Performance edition at the end of this year. AWD with 478 kW or 641 HP in regular N mode or 650 kW / 872 HP in boosted mode. IONIQ 5 - Hyundai Newsroom
  8. Interesting website on all things Electric. Cars, Bikes, etc. Move Electric
  9. Guess we never started an August thread so here we start late and the WinCo grocery store just had their new 6 fast chargers with EVgo open and a Chevrolet Bolt when I came out was Charging.
  10. Always like more of a gun metal color watch with minimal accent colors. Was never one into a gaudy or flashy look at me watch. I like subdued stuff when I wear it.
  11. I understand, like Drew said, sorry for the bumpy transition. Wishing you all the best for your new career. Glad to have you back posting and chatting with us.
  12. @oldshurst442 So you have no restaurant now due to the partner. Has the wife gone bonkers with you being home and wants you to get another place or job? What are you doing?
  13. Just like how we have idiots in their rolling Coal trucks that ICE charging stations, you are right in that we do not have enough large data to know one way or another. Just like the Ship that sunk and the fires on ships that people are jumping to saying it was EVs that caused it. We have no idea if it was the EV battery packs, human error, human hatred of EVs that started the fires on the ships or what. Yes, poor battery cell design can lead to fire issues as was proven in the BOLT battery pack recall. Yet enough also has been done to know that over all with less flammable fluids in an auto, EVs tend to be safer from fires than ICE. Time will prove this out and of course fire departments around the world are learning how to deal with an EV fire issue and like you said, the by-pass of the battery pack to make it safe for emergency personal to extract folks from an accident also help.
  14. What facts do you have to back up this fire hazard on batteries? Yes when they do burn, they are much harder to put out due to the in-experience of the fire fighters. In regards to fire hazard, I do not see how they are more fire prone than gas? This is only one of many stories on the FUD of people saying batteries are more prone to fires than gas. Government data show gasoline vehicles are up to 100x more prone to fires than EVs | Electrek
  15. Just never wear a metal band watch when working on an auto and especially near the distributor. I in my youthful idiot days ignored my dad reminder to remove all jewelry and my watch and I fried an early watch when the metal band or strap touch the distributor and arch'd. OUCH, that was a smart hurtful moment. Never work anything metal on me again and could fully explain why I pretty much do not wear anything on my fingers or wrists since.
  16. Great movie, bummer for that lovely car.
  17. Thanks, nothing like a good crunch recycle series.
  18. Outstanding write up Drew. Look forward to your reporting from the show. Thank you for taking the risk that many will not take and stay safe.
  19. Sadly their habit is their habit. Stay focused on the dinning experience and if the service is top notch, then tip top notch and let them deal with their own bad habits. Kinda reminds me of the medical industry, it is amazing how many medical professionals smoke.
  20. Very clean, easy to read. Nice watch! Course with my habit of never wearing jewelry let alone a watch, I doubt I will ever buy one since my phone has it all. Read multiple writeups that the watch market is a dying industry, be interesting to see where it is in 20 to 30 years.
  21. I would say that is an exception rather than the norm. It is amazing how many coworkers come from red states and they all tend to respond the same. WTF with all the various cans, garbage is garbage, throw it all in one can. Yes Seattle is very progressive in this regards as we have trash, recycling, compost as required cans in all businesses and for homes here. I personally like the fact that you throw all your greasy paper food containers in the yard/food compost bin. I do get that not every company from every red state is that way as I know that Dell in Austin has recycling cans in all the offices too.

  23. Ahh, Olds is a Petite man!
  24. @oldshurst442 Funny part is the Gold Bulova watch was when I was in Sales and the Gun Metal Grey watch was when I transitioned to Engineering. Proper representation of my two career paths. LOL
  25. Here are the two watches my wife has bought me. The Gold Bulova was bought for me in 1991, sales receipt shows she paid $544. Second watch is the gun metal grey with gold accent Accutron that was bought in 1997 for $799 according to the receipt.
