  1. 1. You are talking to another car forum member.

     A. The CT6 is cheaper in price because it is also cheaper in quality....YOU mentioned the S Class....in no way, no how does the CT6 compete in  S Class territory.

If you think the CT6 is on the same level as a 1957 Cadillac Brougham Biarritz and 1957 Eldorado Biarritz  once was, then you are just as delusional as Roger B. Smith was. Because that is what the  S Class is today along with its coupe and convertible siblings.

Sorry, a CT6 is no where near that level of opulence, ostentatiousness and arrogance.

Nice car....but in reality.....a CT6 will ultimately compete with a Lincoln Continental.

    B.  Besides, Cadillac wants to get asses in the showroom and they are playing the value card....THAT is NOT how you play the luxury game.

Luxury is not about value. Its about excess....and excess costs money....

    2. Tired old argument.

     A. its being addressed with 11 new models in 5 years....

     B. Funny, the Escalade has no issues....nor does a long in the tooth SRX....its because the flip side to your lack of models argument, besides the Slade and the SRX, no other Caddy has cachet....and THAT also contributes to the lack of acknowledgment by the people....

    3. No, markets and trends change....

Problem is...Cadillac is slow to adapt....

Not the Germans, because in 2016....THEY are the ones to dictate what is luxury....

60-70 years ago..... 'twas Cadillac with mile high fins.

Its funny, because what people want from Cadillac cars....Cadillac simply does not give them...

People still want Ciel, El Miraj...

Cadillac gives them the ELR and sub-ATS vehicles....

    Pool Side.............

Great Commercial for Escalade, Ciel or El Miraj...

    Opulence, ostentatiousness and arrogance....

    ELR...small, stubby and....green?

    Cadillac has image problems..

That is why they moved to NYC...

The CT6 is a love child from the folk that want to move forward with the folk that want to stay in the past...and the CTS and ATS BOTH are suffering for it.

Take a look at the success of the Escalade....you will see everything in that success that the CTS and ATS are not!!!

    4. Its an anecdote....much like yours....

    5. which makes no sense either....

You may have friends that slobber over your CTS V....and your Impala....

I have import loving friends that slobber over my lowly Fusion....

I talk to regular folk all the time....and they ALL LOVE the NEW Cadillacs...

Problem is, the ones with the money and the ones without......equally.....wont be buying Cadillacs....

That lingering legacy perception problem is still around....

JDN mentions this several times in the Autoweek Dateline interview twice or thrice.

That is why the CT6 also plays the value card.

If I got more money than brains....I want to SPEND it all, not save it....

Save the difference in cash in buying a CT6 over a S65, kudos on you...

Just dont try to tell me how great it is....because I wouldnt care...

My M-B S65 AMG would have the anti-terrorist package and I wouldnt hear you through that thick anti-ballistic glass...

  2. Oh boy....

    This is tough.

Because as a family guy, a 2 door sports coupe is NOT on the radar.

As a toy...then maybe even a V6 might not even fly.

Or it might, but not as a Camaro.

Or I might even do 4 cylinder Camaro or Mustang...or...Subaru BRZ with a boxer 6....

    OK...

    Pony Cars....

I went on the Dodge USA website and it tells me that a Challenger R/T starts at $35 000.  Scat Pack R/T Shaker at $38 995.

It dont matter what trim I get, it means that a HEMI R/T Challenger fits in....so its that!

    interior-2017-dodge-scat-pack-colors.jpg

And if a V8 is out of the question because of gas prices are high or what not...

And Im looking for a 2 door sport coupe of some sorts to compensate me for a divorce and/or mid life crisis...and I wouldnt care for back seat space as much....then a Cadillac ATS 2.0T is how I would go.

MSRP at 37 000 and change...

    2016-Cadillac-ATS-Coupe-067-652x435.jpg

  3. Exactly. Mr. FordCosworth....

    Like I said...

Im sick and tired by fellow Canadians and some Americans continually making fun of the French Forces...

The Simpsons...an American cartoon TV show...

Its all in good fun....for a cheap laugh, I get it....

    HA! HA! HA!

OK....now that we laughed out loud ("LOL" in youth internet/phone texting speak)

Does the youtube link look like that particular French Special Ops Force was shaking and/or surrendering?

    No....no it doesnt.....

To boot, that hostage take-down happened in 1994...at the height of The Simpsons popularity....

    So....

While I get the fact that its satire....I do it myself countless of times...

I only downvoted you because I saw you had 2 upvotes....and I did not agree with that....I originally ignored that post...so I felt like correcting a misconception....

After all, I sometimes get downvoted for that kind of stuff from folks around here....

At least I did not hide from it....AND I gave an explanation to why I downvoted...

  4. We are forgetting one thing.

SNOOTINESS in this segment is what drives sales.

Lets face it, Cadillac has a loooooooong way to go to be even graced with a mention without laughing let alone a visit at the GM MR. Goodwrench dealership...

THIS is also what Cadillac needs to succeed in the high roller poker game not just cars:

    cadillac-dealership-china.jpg

    cadillac-dealer-china.jpg?756232

    THIS does not cut it..

    Dealership.jpg

    497f569740463872015b611662ab905d.jpg

    Even this..is a fail

Largest GM dealership in the Montreal area...Brossard...a Montreal suburb.

    gm1.jpg

Cadillac NEEDS stand alone dealerships...all of them HAVE to be stand alone!

    OK...MOST of them.

Especially the ones where the money is.

Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Glendale, Toronto....

  5. Well, those wheels are American Torque Thrust wheels.

    A version of them.

    Classic Muscle Car wheels.

    2008-ford-mustang-bullit-001.jpg

The Bullitt Mustang's...Ford used these from the factory, from 1968 to the 1990s and into the 2000s...

But as you could see, these wheels make any muscle car look good.

    Just like Cragar SS wheels.

    Or BBS mags for BMWs.

  6. To WHO??? The people who post on these forums and who very seldom ever pay more than $30K for any and every car they have ever purchased.. normally on credit?

Hopefully the CT6 has the goods to change public perception on its own merits.

The CTS certainly has them, yet many normal people have not taken to it.

Its a long process. Slowly Cadillac will get there but it aint gonna be with the CT6 alone, its successor and other models...11 new models in 5 years will help.

But we are talking about the CT6, not about the 11 new models in 5 years.

Cadillac has a long road ahead, it starts with the CT6.

Sorry Casa, the CT6 will NOT garner any respect, its a car produced too early on the road to recovery.

Sorry.. JDN (if U are listening).. the average luxo buyer who sees the CT6 and who has never ever visited a forum or could care less what U say will instantly see the CT6 as the Flagship of Cadillac and on par with the S550 or 750i just at a cheaper price. Why??? Because its big and luxo. The only.. and I mean only.. area where my statement could come back to bite me is when that same buyer goes to the dealership to get a V8 powered CT6.. for the sake of V8s.. and can't find one. That being said.. the LT1 465hp should be thrown in immediately.. easily triumphing over the 750i.

    First of all...cheaper price...

    Irony...you yourself said...CHEAPER price....

    Cheaper prices is synonymous with...CHEAP....

Yeah yeah....I know, most people have no clue what REAL luxury is all about, not just in the automotive world, handbags and cell phones included, however, in the S Class world, exclusivity is the name of the game, and a HIGH price tag is apart of the game plan.

Secondly, Cadillac does NOT command high prices, so they are relegated to just above Buicks and Genesis...so...right off the bat, a CT6 is a second class citizen.

    No V8 just yet?

Another blow to that high class image....

The CT6 will get a V8 in 2/3/4 years from now???!!!

Sorry Casa, by then, the ship has sailed away...

In 3/4/5 years from now, the S Class will get a 4 door coupe, negating  bespoked Cadillac V8 CT6 excitement.

Because, the S Class is King today, 3/4/5 years from now, the S Class 4 door coupe thing will only continue that trend....

Question to anyone. Does the LS460 compete with the Big Germans in the minds of the buyers (not U)? Does the XJ??? I think it does. I think perception of those buyers in that segment have no issue or prejudice if a friend pulls up in an LS or XJ and parks next to their S-Class, A8 or 7Series. I can bet good money that they will have zero issue with this gargantuan Cadillac either. How do I kno??? I kno a great many of them. Don't fool yourself.  Hell.. many of them are actually paying monthly.. not because of the tax benefits of the Lease... but because they can't afford to pay cash for it..

I will agree that with the CT6, many more inroads will be made. But many more will have to be forged.

    Anecdote:

My cousin, who now lives in NYC and is an associate at an engineering firm ALWAYS swore by BMWs...

He moved to San Diego in the early 2000s from Montreal and drove shytty BMW 3 Series cars, until the ATS came along. He had moved to NYC the year the ATS came out and decided to lease a 2.0T.

Well, lets just say he loves the 2016 Camaro SS as he test drove it, and he is waiting impatiently to lease the CT6...he has a Jeep GC right now, for travelling purposes...but next year, I think he will be getting a CT6...

Its like by some craziness.. if I pull up in my VSeries.. M5 and E63AMG buyers are gonna kick sand in my face and tell me to go home. LOL.. Please..

Well, maybe not the M5 driver (if he is a REAL car enthusiast), but an E63AMG buyer will.

M-B in this range has a very loyal following.

A douchy BMW owner who bought his Bimmer for the badge will also.

Casa, Cadillac once had that also.

    Cadillac let it slip away.

BMW if they  dont right the ship, they will find themselves where Cadillac was in the 1990s soon enough.

    Ditto for M-B.

However, Cadillac in 2016 does not have the right tools to steamroll past the Germans they way the Germans did to Cadillac in the 1980s and 1990s...

Maybe when those 11 new models in 5 years come to fruition.

But them Germans are not staying still....like Cadillac did in the 1990s with half-assed attempts.

The high end stuff from M-B is really good. Bland, but good.

When a possible CT8 maybe mothballed, one should hope that an Escalade and a higher model SUV will not only equal the pizzazz of high end M-B AMG products, but SURPASS them....because a CT6, does not really surpass them...and if it does, its not by much. Cadillac needs to leave the Germans in the dust...and as of 2016, it aint that at all.....

Hey guys, my cover band finished recording our demos, and the first two are posted online. They're basically live recordings, reproducing what we can actually play at a performance, the final vocals were recorded afterward in a sound booth for quality.

I play keyboard, my brother sings and plays drums (he has a headset mic), my dad plays bass, and our close friend plays lead guitar.

So far you can listen to Superstition (Stevie Wonder) and Hemorrhage (Fuel). It would be awesome if you could lend me your ears!

    https://www.reverbnation.com/kingsoftherevolution1/song/25709159-superstition-stevie-wonder

    Nice sound you guys have.

Thanks! We're releasing one new song each week (we have 6 demos total) leading up to our first gig in May.

Im really impressed by your band's ability to play.....

Your brother sounds great...Im taking it he aint using auto-tune.

The lead guitarist is awesome. Especially that little solo he did in Hemorrhage.

I couldnt get to hear your thing, crappy computer speakers, but I could tell you guys have great chemistry.

Ram folded easier than French Soldiers.

    I took away a positive vote...I downvoted....

    Why?

Other than WW2, French Soldiers over the course of modern history have been a very strong formidable force.

I believe, the French Armies have been the armed forces that have seen the most battles in the modern era and I also think that the French Armies are the forces that have had the most successes and victories....

I may have to do research to back up my claims, something tells me Im right on both accounts though...

So...I took offense by that comment....

Im sick and tired by fellow Canadians and some Americans continually making fun of the French Forces...

If one took the time to read history, one would not laugh so hard at the French Armies...

Takes balls to attempt this...and the French NEVER hesitated to protect itself...

I see the Russian Armies and the Israeli Armies doing this, nobody else....no Canadian or American....

  9.

The more I think about this and look at the two colored pictures, not sure why but I really like the more masculine Blue version over the Garnet Red.

I think this would sell as a weekend cruiser if they made it with a more powerful VOLT or pure EV powertrain.

    attachicon.gifBuick-Avista-1.jpg

    attachicon.gifBuick-Avista-2.jpg

I can see this selling and competing well against Tesla as an EV.

Imagine this as liquid cooled electric motor, 420HP, 560 LB-FT torque motivating this along.

This AMR Racing motor would be perfect to motivate this along and weigthing only a fraction of a traditional petrol engine.

    attachicon.gifam-racing-amr-dual-stack-250-90-ac-motor-liquid-cooled-permanent-magnet-remy-1.jpg

But it will never sound as good as a LS engine.

Electric and even the Turbo 4 engines as good as they are will never live  up to the sound of a good old V8. Just watch the video of he Venom setting the convertible speed record as it passes by. No Tesla would ever sound that good.

Not so sure about that, but this Worlds Fastest Electric Corvette has that lovely Jet sound as it sets a new world record.

Sorry electric drills and my Dyson V6 vac are just are not sexy sounding either.

Go to 2:57 and just feel it.

    http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/04/hennessey-venom-gt-spyder-sets-record-for-fastest-convertible-ever-at-256-6-mph-video/

Hmmm 186? So they modified this car to go slower than stock?

    Ive posted this before....

Drills, absolutely have a great sound to them...

Especially if you are the handyman type.

    Very masculine.

Car garage smell with oil and gasoline mixed in  with rubber tire smell and pneumatic tools with V8 engine sounds in the background are akin to hardware store smell with lumber smells mixed in with paint smells and glues with electric tool sounds such as electric saws and drills....

But that is just me, I guess....

A relic of the past that enjoys being a smelly, hairy, sweaty macho male...

    No, I aint metro sexual...nor am I a slob..

But...Im well groomed, very well groomed when the occasion calls for it but I still cling on to the old neanderthal stereotypes that require males to be males...

(I aint accusing you of anything....Im just trying to be entertaining...kinda like Tim the Tool-man Taylor for this post)

  11. Thing is that the blurb was never confirmed by JDN .. the show, nor off the show.. or anyone at GM. He did say that by 2020 we will see 11 new vehicles. Furthermore... I am of firm belief that the CT6 can get the upgrades it needs to handle even the S65 if Cadillac wanted. Completely pointless to build a CT8.

    Yes...JDN NEVER confirmed ANYTHING...

11 new models in 5 years could mean anything....

However, when JDN has confirmed that a CT6 is NOT the flagship to end all flagships, then a CT6 is hardly a car to go against a Mercedes-Benz flagship.

Even if a CT6 gets mucho interior upgrades and the CT6 platform is world class, just BECAUSE JDN went on public record implying the CT6 has a better successor coming shortly, and because many Cadillac haters will NEVER let us forget what JDN said....that alone has sealed the CT6's destiny to be a second class citizen.

  12. Oh wait....

I was  supposed to defend electric motors and agree with Mr DFELT  that a more powerful Bolt powertrain in the Avista coupe or sedan would be the bomb....

    OH well....V8s RULE!!!!

Id go as far and say screw the Chevy LS motor in the Avista.

Bring back that Pontiac 400 motor, add direct injection to it somehow and shoehorn it in the Avista.

Shyte, shoehorn that in a Camaro, add an Endura nose to it and call it a Trans Am!

THAT is the ONLY way Ill like the Camaro!

Hell....I just saw Smokey and the Bandit for the umpteenth and even a horsepower choking crappy 1970s catalytic converter V8 sounds better than all of those engines mentioned, including the modern Chevy LS engine. (but the LS engine DOES sound goooooood) In some scenes, where the Trans Am is idling, you could hear her V8 engine gurgle....what a sound....and no...that is not Industrial Light and Sound Star Wars sound effects, it really was the Trans Am's 400 cubic inch V8 making those wonderful sounds!

  14. Lets get back to discuss how bland this convertible is.

Like I said about the coupe. I dont like the coupe, and I dont like the convertible.

    Because they are too conservative.

With that being said. Maybe THIS car aint marketed towards testosterone abundundant, sexually charged hormonal teenaged males hocked up on steroids looking at playboy magazines instead of doing their homework. (Yes....I still view myself this way, although Im 43 years old, play pitch and catch with my daughter for a couple of hours and havent had sex in 3 months, because still happily married to the same woman for the last 13 years....)

Yeah, this car aint for me...but then again, a Trans Am convertible with all kinds of curves and nostrils and sex appeal...like this one:

    FL0116-236875_1.jpg

aint for me either anymore....the T/A  is too much of a horn dog.

In other words....I dont know what the hell I want!

  15. I LIKE IT!

I kinda got over the Model S' current "grill". I felt it started to look dated...and awkward. Worse than a grill-less face of the Model 3.

I started warming over the "grill-less" Model 3's face sometime last week, and I think this grill-less Model S wears the corporate face the best.

  16. Ford has done good.

    But it aint surprising.

Ford, knowing that its competitors will try to use any angle they can to dismiss an alumimium F-150 probably did millions upon millions of hours of computer crast test simulations to achieve this.

    Well done Ford.

    FOR SHAME, General Motors....FOR SHAME!!!!

Especially since GM will be going aluminium for its Silverado/Sierra...

Ill NEVER forgive GM for this stupidity....the stupidity of making fun of Ford, then copying Ford...

AND THEN LOSING THE CRASH TEST RATINGS TO AN ALUMINIUM TRUCK!

So much for protecting yourself in a bear attack in a Silverado.

Ill take the Built Ford Tough F-150 please!

My lone issue would be dealer access for service. I have a Chevy dealer about 3.5 miles away and another probably 20 miles away and a large handful within 30 miles in any direction. Tesla..Uhhh..probably one MAYBE two in the Stl area but definitely none on this side of the river so that's 35 miles to cross the river then most likely 10-15 miles past to actually get to a dealer so that's roughly 50 miles to a Tesla dealer. If I'm buying a brand new model, which always tend to have a few(be it minor or major) issues that a dealer will have to get their hands on to replace or fix.

What? Are you saying you do not have Tesla's beloved Pet Boys auto centers every 3 to 5 miles? ;)

Yes many nerds have put Tesla in the same league as Apple and yet you have to go to Pet Boys for service!, That does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about their quality when your dealing with a cheap retailer. I would rather trust my chevy dealership over pet boys.

How much service is there?  Change the brakes (which last longer due to the regen) and change tires.    Wiper blades and cabin air filter can be changed yourself.  The only maintenance item is changing the coolant on the battery every 4 years.  Electric motor has no maintenance, no oil change, no trans fluid change, no filter and belt changes, none of that.

True...but suspension repairs, especially in pot hole country might be an issue for some.

Brakes on Teslas do last longer, as most of the time, engine braking(regen) slows the car down considerably.

Wiper blades SHOULD be one of those things that an owner of any car SHOULD be doing on their own....many dont though....

Not a slight for your argument, just an observation.

I agree with you 100%  on this SMK...there is no urgent need for a Tesla service center...

Other than for suspension repairs and collisions....

  18.

We dont have any Pet Boys service centers in Quebec, I would imagine they are like NAPA Auto Parts?

I havent used NAPA service centers...but Im assuming the level of competence and service is the same?

I think that Napa is a good alternative for when a car is too old to give a shyte about dealership care...

And yes, Tesla should NOT use that level of service departments...

But the way Im sensing your sarcasm, it seems like Pet Boys is more like Canadian Tire for us....Crappy Tire is but one nickname  we use to call and describe Canadian Tire.

Luckily in Montreal, Tesla has one of the biggest service centers in North America...and is located in the dead center of the city.

When their is an issue with a Tesla car, Tesla does give you a loaner Tesla...

However, I wanna see if that level of service will continue when Tesla will have 500 000/600 000/700 000 cars on the road?

  19. That CLS is awesome. Thanx guys. I wish it really was mine. LOL!

You know Frisky, and to a lesser extant Mr. CCAP....(because I prefer the coupe)

Frisky, you keep on posting that C63 AMG Black Series, that Im beginning to dig it myself...

Thanx for introducing new ways (cars) I could get my car jollies from.

  20. This one was tough.

I wanted to do modern cars more than classics.

    Here goes.

My all time fave dream car.

    1970 Oldsmobile 442

    Trans Am. Which one?

    I could do a 1973 455SD.

    I decided to do LS1 4rth gen.  Either a 1998 30th anniversary  or 2002 Collector's Edition.

    Firehawks are also cool.

    I need a Cadillac

    But I dont do SUVs....

I noticed the window area....its similar to this

Then I remembered this about a Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance.

So a 1992 5.7 liter V8 Fleetwood Brougham d'Elegance shall be my choice.

6.0 V12 Aston Martin Vanquish Carbon Black Edition.

I love me that 6.2 liter AMG motor.

I have always loved me a CLS.

2007 M-B CLS 63 AMG to complete the garage.

  21. Only thing I would say RE the Camaro is it could be an inch to 1.5-in lower.

I'm a big block guy, but man! that SB sounds awesome!

Yeah, the SBC does sound awesome.

And Im being too harsh on the Camaro's looks myself.

It really is an attractive car on the Alpha Platform.

It does look better than the BMW M4.

Ive grown more tired of the BMW M4 faster than I have with the Camaro's looks.

  22. Touché about some of the selections not being in the same class of the Audi A8L.

That includes my selection of the Tesla Model S.

So...I always sometimes find ways to circumvent the rules to fit my agendas, I will comply to be exactly in the same category as the Audi A8L.

The ONLY LWB car in this price range Id want to own, and it is long in the tooth for 2016, is the Jaguar XJL supercharged. Starts at $95 000. I could option it out to $105 000 easily...
