AT REG... The Tesla Model S does not match the hype? Id like to hear from you how the Tesla Model S does not match the hype. Because from where Im sitting, the Model S not only matches the hype...it far exceeds it....from countless points of view... 1. start up company that has set the whole world on fire in less than a decade 2. with a car that has the major automobile companies of the world chasing the Model S...proof? The Porsche EV sedan that is set to arrive 2-3-4-5 years from now... The State Michigan re-inventing fascism to fit our democratic lifestyle to prevent Tesla's business model to become successful...our way or the highway disguised... 3. The Model S...a first real attempt to engineer an EV platform from scratch... Hiccups along the way...yeah...a few...comparable to the hiccups that seasoned veterans have...veterans that have been in the business for 100 years and then some...not barely 10.......there is one less zero at the end of that number one you know... 4. The Model S achieves great performance numbers in whatever category you want numbers to be compared... Speed, acceleration, mileage for EVs....it is the leader in electronic range....and it is the fastest sedan...maybe a Hellcat...but definitely no Porsche or M-B or BMW sedans beat it...and that Hellcat...it took another ballsy AMERICAN car company to outdo the muscle car formula to achieve this with a 6.2 lite superchatged V8 worth 707 horsepower...the most horsepower ever offered in a production sedan... 5. Meaning....it has schooled the veterans in how to actually engineer a proper EV... 6. The Model S...its a stunning design...the Fisker Karma is just unbelievably out of this world....but the Model S has that elegant, sexy, rich and luxurious design with the right amount of curves in the right places to make it a better looking vehicle than any other in its price range...excluding the aforementioned Fisker Karma...and the Model S still looks good 3-4 years later...and...its sales are not dipping...but INCREASING... I could go on...but at 6...I think Ive proven my point of view that the Model S exceeds expectations... How 'bout yours? PS: QUALITY OF MATERIALS BETTER NOT BE ON YOUR LIST... why? Kinda like a Corvette...the money you are spending on a Model S or a Corvette...obviously a C6 rather than the C7...is for the engineering involved...high tech engineering... You want an interior that is better...be prepared to spend more money... Impossible for you...you want high tech shyte, state of the art at 30 000... It seems to me you are more of a dreamer than a hater...so Ill apologize for calling you a hater...Ill start calling you a dreamer instead...

That means also Reg...that you dont care for Ferarris, Lambos, Bentleys...and even Cadilllacs...as those cars are not in the 30 000 dollar price range... And I dont know you long enough to have read your other posts in Cheers and Gears...but if you have given ANY level of enthusiasm for ANY car above 30 000 dollars...that would make you a hypocrite... A Tesla Model S is not meant for the masses...a Tesla is meant for somebody who has the means to buy one... Just like how the first and second and third and even fourth generations of the automobile 120 some odd years ago... Its a LUXURY STATUS symbol....just like a Cadillac...even a Buick...hell...even an Oldsmobile in 2004.. What Im trying to say is that...its a pretty crummy reason to hate on Tesla just because you camt afford one...sour grapes on your part...

Where I live...in Montreal,Quebec, Canada...Id suspect the Malibu Hybrid will sell pretty well... Why? 1. The 1st gen Volt sold quite well 2. The 2nd gen Volt seems to be selling quite well 3. Camry Hybrids and even Altima Hybrids from almost a decade ago have sold decently... 4. The current Fusion Hybrid is a success. Its a safe bet to put your money on the Malibu Hybrid on it being a success in Quebec... Anywhere else in North America....I have no clue...in my neck of the woods...success...

My my my Hyper...the absolutes and the hypocrisy from you is unreal....and that is why you have me on your ignore list...because YOU camt stand when I point it out and let you have it... But its OK...others read it... You diss Suave....you tell him its OK to NOT like the Malibu...and yet YOU have a closed mind on Tesla... YOU hate on Tesla zealots... YOU are the one to say stuff like Elon Musk has an ego problem because he has a vision and that vision does NOT coincide with what YOUR utopia is... YOU said it yourself...on the Malibu...yet YOU dont realize how THAT opinion also FAVORS Tesla...yey YOU are the one to say Tesla is not part of our future and 100% electrics either... The Tesla IS a sports sedan...it IS meant to be fast...it IS meant to compete with the luxury cars and it IS making Tesla money...Tesla is bleeding money because of Tesla's other projects....not because the Model S is not a money maker... Hyper...I like your way of thinking....its your arrogance I dont like... First of all... Where is YOUR proof that 100% electrics WONT be the end all solution all for ALL electric vehicles... With 100% electrics getting close to 300 miles on one battery charge...which is basically the average range of a full tank of gas on regular gasoline powered cars...alls is left is for the charging systems to fall and compete with gas pump times...but as SMK pointed out...MOST of the time...a Tesla is PLUGGED in AT HOME...THERE goes YOUR argument... AND for long trips...MOST people dont do that either anymore....but...there is a solution...wireless recharging on the go... The gasoline prices will eventually go up...and will probably go down again... WHO CARES FOR THAT???!!! It really is a question if an individual really wants to go gasoline free or not... The Tesla is a sound solution...but its expensive... The Volt or Hybrid sedans are a good solution too...as the range of batteries of these cars goes up...so does the independence for gasoline use... Economics of the differences between the price of gas versus the price of the hybrid sedan versus the price of the gasoline version of the sedan be damned...in 2015....its all about how serious is a buyer to getting off of oil...
-
Fixed it for you BLU, but there is a slight problem...we need somebody to upvote CCAP on that post so it could be a +1 rather than just neutral.
-
And that is the thing...if I wanted to get off of oil 100%, why would I bother with a Volt, or Malibu hybrid? Those cars wont get me to Boston on electric power alone anyway...Id have to use gasoline...yeah I know...the gasoline engine acts like a generator...recharging the battery...the thing is...I STILL USE GASOLINE....I WANT TO GET OFF OF GASOLINE...THAT is the premise with a Tesla...it aint about Tesla enthusiasts being zealous... Trust me...even in 2015...Id bite the bullet for 40 minutes to charge my Model S to get to Boston without any gasoline usage... I have an advantage of this kind of thought process...I live in Montreal...Quebec... We have relatively cheap electricity....and our electricity is as clean and green as it gets... I understand other parts of North America dont have this luxury... Like we said...there is more than one way to skin a cat... And seeing how my partner is off of oil 100% with a car that is pure adrenaline to drive...Im kinda jealous...

With Porsche saying that their sports car sedan 100% EV will be achieving 310 miles until the battery drains and Tesla's own Model S has 265 mile range and in very optimal conditions may hit 300 miles and technologies that allow wireless charging along with super powerful chargers themselves improving charge times (Porsche is boasting a 80% battery refill in 20 minutes...) Im not too sure about your perception of the future being 100% accurate... And the reason why Im being picky on you....is because you started your argument very arrogantly hatin' on so called haterz while you yourself is hatin' on "Tesla zealots... Now...you may be correct that there is not just one solution to the battery/EV engineering dilemma....more than one way to skin a cat type deal...and I may agree with you that a GM Voltec solution is a mighty one and one that will probably exist and continue to improve and challenge 100% pure electrics....but...please....dont behave like all electrics and batteries and superchargers and wireless charging will not improve either... You know...Montreal to Boston takes me about 5 hours....at 100 KPH..that equates to approximately 500 kilometers...or...in miles if you want...at 65 MPH...that would take me about 4.75 hours...which is 308 miles... And if you google to see the distance between Montreal to Boston: 4 h 49 min (494.6 km) via I-89 S 4 h 58 min (514.9 km) via I-93 S 5 h 48 min (546.1 km) via I-89 S and I-91 S and Boston to Montreal 4 h 51 min (307.2 mi) via I-89 N 5 h (319.2 mi) via I-93 N 5 h 47 min (338.5 mi) via I-91 N and I-89 N Yeah...optimal conditions...a Porsche or even the Tesla takes me to Boston directly....ALMOST... You may laugh at this....but...a full tank full of gas in ANY car that I have ever owned took me to Boston and then I had to fill up in Boston...so....its the charge times that plays a difference...but...have you calculated how much time it actually takes to fill up an empty tank to a very full tank? It actually does take 3-5 minutes...so...20 minutes for 80%...you know...that gap is closing pretty quickly...isnt it? No...we are not there yet...but range anxiety on a Tesla or that Porsche as we speak is just a mild concern rather than full blown anxiety...therefore...your own zealousness for hatin' on Tesla zealots clouds your otherwise sound argument...

Hyundai News:Hyundai's Genesis Brand Unveils the G90 Flagship
oldshurst442 replied to William Maley's topic in Genesis
You know what my take is in all this? You got to start somewhere. And you take it from there. Improving and tweaking and keeping things that work and ditching things that dont. I aint worried about Hyundai's ability to establish a "look". Sure, some designs they put out seem to "borrow" from other makes...but as Suave has pointed out, designers from other makes have joined the Hyundai team... And...dont forget, Hyundai has also set design trends too along the way the last 5 years.... Plus...Hyundai has also had a successful way of putting content in a vehicle and peddling it... Yeah, I know...both are Hyundai brand strategies and not Genesis... Like I said, You got to start somewhere... -
Every time you make your mortgage payment, it's like part of that payment is going into a long term savings bond. Every time you make a rental payment, it's like flushing money down the toilet. Just make sure you can handle the payments. Yes...what Drew said... And since Im into a Stars Wars kick lately...I leave you with this... My advice, given to you by Senator Palpatine

Dear Blu...Your loss buddy... 1.21 gigawatts Since you dont want to acknowledge the power of electricity...I made a little compilation for you to be entertained....we started off with Hollywood film lore and ended it with powerful human history who marveled it and tried to harness it...and harness it we did...like I said...your loss buddy...

It was...FREAKIN' AWESOME!!! I have NEVER in my entire life EVER driven a faster car than that Tesla P85D...No ludicrous mode, just the normal P85D. Man, in half a block (OK...let me try and get a guestimate...in yards as well...to explain to you how fast the thing went when I slammed the accelerator pedal...because it aint a gas pedal...) The acceleration is instantaneous....there was no shift shock from a gear changing....just smooth linear acceleration that pulled you in your seat and kept you there with no jerking...like I said...no shift shock...what a feeling... I dont know....65-70 yards.maybe even 60 yards...the bloody car reached 55-60 MPH and then I had to decelerate...man the thing just stopped...no ABS brakes came on either... There isnt anything I dont like about the car....yet...the thing is still new and I did not get a chance to see what it is I dont like about it.... Maybe the quality of the materials....they feel light...not that the materials are cheap...the material are very comparable to my 2012 Acura TL...but that is the thing...in 2012, the Acural TL SH-AWD sold for $50 000 CDN....the Tesla P85D in 2015 sells for double that...Ill keep you posted about it....and how my partner feels about it too...

I had to google the Parisienne Transit system to get a glimpse of what you were saying, and I saw what you meant by plenty of circles... However, I dont comprehend your theory of a circular transit system versus one that is parallel and perpendicular forming perfect squares and rectangles... I know that in a road system.....straight lines that make roads into perfect squares is the way to go as its easy to divide a city between North/South/East/West, to have a logical number system and to never get lost and many other reasons....but in a mass transit system....I fail to understand the reasoning.

In a way it the new Lacrosse does look like it could be the next generation Lucerne rather than the next generation Lacrosse... And let us not forget that the 2nd gen Lacrosse replaced both the Lucerne and the W-Body Lacrosse/Century/Regal... Wow...Buick has come a loooong way since 2008/2009....full circle... The circle is now complete ( OK OK...Ill spare you folk with the needless Star Wars plugs)

Its good thing I was driving around in my partner's Tesla P85D today and I missed this thread entirely... Yeah...he finally took delivery of it... And me test driving it today of all days when this thread appeared its like when Jeremy Roenick made fun of Patrick Roy and Patrick had this to say: Let me tell you, the P85D just is...well, take a test drive of one yourself...
-
Id also like to mention that the 2008 Buick Lucerne was also a recipient of the 3800. Just so the Lucerne gets a wittle wove from somebody... I personally preferred the Olds Aurora 4.0 V8 and the Pontiac Bonneville with the 3800 L67 or the 4.6 NorthStar that was put into it in its last days...and THAT is why I felt compelled to mention the Lucerne, as I suspect there arent too many people that cared for the Lucerne...

Opel, Ford of Europe, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen too. Yup...I did not want to go further than what I did and mention all the companies...but very yup!

I agree with what you said Drew 100000000000%. Europe is fantastic when it comes to trains, buses and metro systems... They had no choice...after WW2, roads were destroyed....gasoline was uber expensive...still is... The bestand cheapest way for Europe to get the people back on the roads to work was through a very elaborate public transit system... Donkeys with Donkey trails and itty bitty cars was how they got going after the war and how they advanced their cities was with public transit... Here in North America....with the visions of grandeur that soldiers saw with the autobahn...which coincided with GM's vision of the future for the automobile in their Motorama exhibits , the car was our form of freedom and excess luxury....and THAT ideology is gonna be nearly impossible to reverse...so much so...that some of us are soooooo wound up in our gasoline powered cars, that we wont even accept electric cars...so how in the world are we gonna accept mass public transit? Its sad really!

Thanx for the info....I really did not feel like reading the article because: 1. The way I read that quote, it made me question my sanity...maybe I got seduced and sedated by lovely females and when I awoke, Quebec was independent. 2. Our Premier, Mr. Couillard did make some noise at this conference...some UNWANTED noise that some in his office and other opposing politicians dont agree with....but the Montreal Gazette says he wants to do away with NATURAL GAS by 2050, nothing about GASOLINE.... http://montrealgazette.com/news/quebec/analysis-couillard-shows-how-green-he-is-at-climate-conference-back-home-people-wonder-is-it-practical which makes no sense at all as Quebec also owns a natural gas company that supplies Quebecois with natural gas....Gaz Metropolitain... And others also point out how quite the task that would be to achieve this....therefore, even if he also agreed to no gasoline powered vehicles by 2050...I doubt this will ever come to fruition... However....googling this story for further info...I came across an article that Toyota wants to reduce by 90% of 2010 sales of gasoline powered cars by 2050...interesting... http://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/energy/article/Toyota-aims-to-nearly-eliminate-gasoline-cars-by-6571406.php
