  1. "The 2021 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study is based on responses from 33,251 original owners of 2018 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. The study was fielded from July 2020 through November 2020."
  2. Possibly but it also depends on what study it was. This is a study of three year old vehicles, not the "initial quality" crap that covers the first 90 days.
  3. And to think, everybody else is still quite a bit worse. https://www.jdpower.com/business/press-releases/2021-us-vehicle-dependability-study-vds
  4. Happy Birthday @surreal1272! Hopefully today is stress-free (may need to stay off here! ?) and relaxing!
  5. I don't know a single person who believes Toyota lacks a perception in quality. To the vast majority of people, Toyota is still at the top of the heap and to be honest, what is out there to say they're not at the top or top three? Balthazar showing some pictures of Tacoma frames?
  6. I'll defend the dealership model just a tiny bit here as one of my buddies works at one and he told me this a couple weeks ago and I thought it was really awesome. So we all know the markups on new vehicles (MARKET ADJUSTMENT) on some pretty common/basic vehicles. He was telling me how they won't mark any vehicle up to anybody who's local to us (not sure what kind of radius he's talking) but if somebody is calling from Chicago looking for a Tahoe or Silverado that they have in stock, they mark those up. They don't want to piss up their local customers who have been buying from them for years or will be buying from them for years to come. I just thought this was a pretty cool thing because they could mark things up across the board and still sell them but they won't for their local clientele. When do you want your vehicle? If you're wanting something now or even within the next month or two, you don't have much of a choice. I'd wager to say the vast majority of the buying public are not willing to wait it out like you did or I would to get exactly what I want AND for the best price. These people who don't care about debt just see $40/month instead of $3,000. Ignorance is bliss and the general public is really freakin stupid and terrible with money.
  7. Absolutely, isn't one of the biggest perks of going EV to save quite a bit of space which can (should) be used as a frunk? Or, at least repurpose the hood/frunk area for something else. An EV without a frunk just doesn't make sense to me, unless the vehicle is pretty small. That's where I give the Bolt a pass (and other compact vehicles). It's a small enough vehicle that packaging still dictates that space is needed for powertrain components. If freakin' FORD can make a frunk on a Mach-E, then Mercedes should be able to make a frunk on an S Class-sized vehicle.
  8. Has Mercedes made an EV worth a damn yet? I mean, the EQS isn't a bad vehicle, it just looks like complete crap. Why somebody would consciously choose a vehicle that looks as jellybean as that vehicle is beyond me.
  9. I'm sure you read the comparison between the Air and EQGarbage and the praise on how well Lucid packaged the Air's interior saying it was as spacious as the S Class/EQS. I'm sure you can figure out which is which based on the below measurements/capacities. I'm positive you didn't even do your own research here so I'll show you.
  10. https://www.greencarreports.com/news/1134470_cold-weather-affects-ev-range-differently-for-each-model-here-are-some-examples
  11. I think it most started because range wasn't 250-500 miles like it is now. Losing 30% range in something that only gets 70-150 miles of range in good conditions, is pretty crappy to only get 50-100 miles of range in poor conditions. I know it isn't often but surpassing 100 miles in a day of a lot of running around isn't unheard of. I wouldn't have been able to pick up my wife's G55 from the dealership Saturday in cold conditions if I had less than 100 miles of range. It's 60 miles in each direction. Had I had a Mercedes Benz B Class Electric (84 miles of range), it would be a two charge trip. Just say'n, I think that's why this is a major topic still. We've been over this, it starts at 75k, just like a Model S.
  12. I believe last year when I looked this information up, it was roughly a 30% loss of range. Obviously each vehicle's heating/cooling of the batteries will change the drop in range and everybody has different solutions to maintaining their batteries.
  13. I mean, with government incentives. They didn't just decide to pay full price for electric vehicles because they like them. They get additional benefits like access to bus-only lanes, and free municipal parking, 50% ferry/toll fees, you can look at the rest below. The Norwegian EV incentives: No purchase/import taxes (1990-) Exemption from 25% VAT on purchase (2001-) No annual road tax (1996-2021). Reduced tax from 2021. No charges on toll roads or ferries (1997- 2017). Maximum 50% of the total amount on ferry fares for electric vehicles (2018-) Maximum 50% of the total amount on toll roads (2019) Free municipal parking (1999- 2017) Parking fee for EVs was introduced locally with an upper limit of a maximum 50% of the full price (2018-) Access to bus lanes (2005-). New rules allow local authorities to limit the access to only include EVs that carry one or more passengers (2016) 50 % reduced company car tax (2000-2018). Company car tax reduction reduced to 40% (2018-) Exemption from 25% VAT on leasing (2015) Fiscal compensation for the scrapping of fossil vans when converting to a zero-emission van (2018) https://elbil.no/english/norwegian-ev-policy/
  14. Gasoline and diesel lose range in winter months as well, just say'n.
  15. Sweet, a bunch of CGI electric vehicles. They're still way behind.
  16. I thought FCA/Stelantis was working on an inline-6 and not a V6. That could easily replace the 5.7 at least.
  17. Say whaaaaaaa?!? You haven't been to a wedding since your own in '91?!?! That's actually just kind of impressive. Hahaha Understandable to get rid of it all, if you're not using it. What they ended up wearing seems more appropriate and I'd actually rather wear dress pants, dress shoes, button up shirt, and a jacket but without a tie. I like that look more and ties seem a little over the top, imo. I understand where they're appropriate and not but I'm just not as much of a fan of that look. Glad ya went! So how was it? Did you enjoy your time out?
  18. It probably varies greatly from 3M tape to actual holes drilled. The taped on ones are probably relatively simple to remove but likely time consuming. The ones where there are drilled holes, would obviously be a much greater adventure and likely costing thousands because you'd be filling and painting. You could probably find a parts diagram online and see how they're attached.
  19. What would you wear to a wedding? You had to have gone to a wedding in the last 20 years. I wouldn't go spend a bunch of money for a one-time party but you could go and grab a pair of dressier pants. I think a true formal dress attire is a little much to a party but that's neither here nor there, that's already been decided. Personally, I wouldn't worry about the pandemic part of it. You're vaccinated so you can get back to normal life, right?
  20. Ford shares are cheap though so a dime buys more shares worth than a dime dividend from a company like Amazon or Tesla (neither of which pay a dividend though). Most people who have Ford shares a hundred to hundreds of shares.
  21. I just found out my uncle who lives out in LA has an R1T reservation with an estimated delivery date of March '22. I'm pretty jealous, to say the least.
  22. Just last week they started to payu a dividend again, although smaller than pre-COVID. They took almost a two year hiatus on paying dividends and in that span the share price dropped hard to the 5-6 range. I bought a few shares in the 16 dollar range like 6 years ago and it's just now profitable. I wish I would have bought some last year when it was really low again.
  23. Just last year you could have gotten in for $5-6/share, still a great buy-in price. David would prefer this get crushed.
  24. HA, after clicking through the first link there's a link to those GOSH DARN GREEDY DEALERS marking up CT5-VB $35,000!
  25. If he was so lousy and greedy, would he not want a tax credit for his vehicles to sell more? I do agree with this not not just defense specific, make cuts almost everywhere to NECESSITIES. We need to get our feet under ourselves again, imo. You know this is absolutely the same exact thing every company does. They're all corrupt and hypocritical.
