Then he would have went with a lesser engine. 281hp motor vs 460hp engine. I'm not seeing where the electric motor from Ford should be compared to the 1000hp Hellephant. Yeah, I get where you'd want two or three electric motors in a real expensive and performance oriented build, but I'm still not exactly sure how they compare. You need to simplify things a little here. You're stretching to a four motor setup to compare to a Hellephant. Do go no, please. How are you figuring the batteries and controller pricing to say they're cheaper than a comparable ICE?
-
They're in the Mach-E, I'd certainly say that is a mass produced motor.
-
I'm genuinely curious what all of the additional parts/batteries would cost for a setup just for a ballpark figure. 50k sounds a little high but that's also with me assuming just one $3900 motor. If you're spending that kind of cash, there will be two or three of them also adding additional controllers and batteries. I guess as I type through this, 50k doesn't sounds that far off, especially considering probably 10k-15k in labor customizing everything to fit.
-
$3900 per motor + controllers/ECUs + batteries sounds like an absurd amount of money to convert to electric. I'm just assuming everything outside of the motors is absurdly priced, because it always is.

That freakin rocks! I should buy one and drop it in my C5Z model.

I agree that this seems like a one-off situation and I wouldn't expect a class action lawsuit, at all. It isn't that a frame replacement is THAT big of a deal, it's that it's a new vehicle and I, personally, would just have issues trusting the shop to do a perfect job. If the vehicle was 8ish years old or older, I wouldn't care as much. I just wouldn't want this done on anything new. You replacing a frame on your own 1959 vehicle in your garage is vastly different than a dealership replacing a frame on a brand new vehicle with hundreds of sensors and miles of wires run throughout the vehicle.
-
Agreed but it's probably a lot tougher to get them to buy it back. I know I wouldn't want to keep that vehicle long-term.
-
Has the C8R not backed it up already? Some person worrying about delays ... *AMG One*

Nobody gives a FCK about the manufacturer championship. It's all about the driver championship.
-
I would be a little pissed off about a full frame replacement. I can guarantee that vehicle will never be the same. There will be gremlins in that vehicle until it is crushed.

He's just sour that his beloved Mercedes is going to lose the F1 crown this year to Max in a Honda-powered RedBull car.

Hahaha that was a co worker of yours?!? Super Scary but also funny, because nobody was injured.

Like, say, a Borla exhaust on anything.
-
Where does it say that Borla made an OEM exhaust for the TBSS? I can't find anything on the internet saying it's a factory system. Also, that couldn't be further from accurate. It's a Corvette engine in an SUV chassis and body. There's a zero percent chance the exhaust is the same exact system as a Corvette, unless you're speaking solely of the muffler.
-
I see you're more willing to stay in your own bubble than have a discussion. Trailblazer SS's do not come with Borla exhaust from the factory, at least I'm not finding this anywhere on the internet. AAAAAAAAnd, if your SS actually has Borla exhaust on it, it is certainly exceeding OEM/legal noise requirements, which you're advocating for maintaining.

This is the first moment of my learning the Volt powertrain was in something else, another GM mistake to kill-off after like 3 years. Come to think of it though, wasn't the Volt's ICE just used as a generator and not actually used to motivate the vehicle? Buuuut, I know I didn't specify but a in a vehicle that isn't 76k, is more what I was thinking hahaha.

I'm also not trying to say "all bikes should have extra loud exhaust.", just to clarify. I'm just saying, that louder pipes likely have saved lives at some point, be it the rider, a driver/passenger in a 4-wheeled vehicle or an individual (think child) from running into the street without looking. But to say bikes with loud exhaust are "destroying the peace" and "Ear Piercing noise that destroys any tranquil attempt to live life." while having a V8 with aftermarket exhaust of your own is quite the hypocritical statement. Inner city, EVERY aftermarket exhaust resonates off buildings. I know, I work downtown STL and hear vehicles drive past daily and I'm 6 floors up.
-
That's because you literally only hear the ones with obnoxious exhaust. You'll never hear the quite ones drive past. Also, I don't see how loud pipes wouldn't save some lives as you'll at least hear a vehicle before seeing it. dEsTrOy tHe pEaCe All the while...
-
Unless you hung out with every Harley rider, that's still a small sample that you were just around.
-
Yeah, I've known a couple owners and they loved them. They needed that powertrain in something a little larger and I couldn't imagine it wouldn't have taken off in the market. It was such a great combination of EV range with an ICE to cover the longer trips everybody complains about.
-
And I'd actually say it's a few who ride like that, they're just (obviously) the loudest so you only notice those ones being @sshats.
-
And it sucks because the vehicles themselves aren't actually bad, there was just a MAJOR design flaw that has damaged their image.
-
Too bad that cash won't fix the reputation of garbage EVs from Chevy.

I like the R1T but the Taco is a great looking truck, imo. Based solely on looks, I'd prefer the Taco. -
