  1. Close? It passed "close" two years ago when the folks who denied COVID in the first place, made it political.
  2. Yeah, that would the result of fast yet half asleep typing and autocorrect getting drunk together lol.
  3. Ummm, maybe you didn't see the "apples to apples" error there lol. I would sure as hell hope that an SUV Mach-E has more space than a two door pony car Mustang that happens to share the same first name. They literally have noticing else in common unlike the new Equinox.
  4. This too. I have stated here before that the only real issue with direct sales is with dealership lobby friendly states (like Michigan) to prohibit (thorough existing laws) or suggesting further protections against direct sale car companies. They have fought tooth and nail against the model for decades. The EV demand for it is only the most recent battle line we see here now. If there is a failure of companies due to direct sale, then a lot of that blame should be shared by the various supposed pro "free market" governments who fought against the direct sales model their respective states. However, the ones Balth mentioned (Save for Rivian since they are now attempting said model in the real world) never even got to try out said model for reasons NOT related to direct sales. "Simplicity" did not kill them.
  5. Yet none of what you said explains how direct sales (the simpler method) directly led to the downfall of the companies YOU listed. It also doesn’t change the fact that companies have come and gone since the beginning. EVs are no exception here but the implication that direct sales are the issue is highly suspect at best.
  6. Before we take your absolute word for it, tell us how many IC car companies have gone under since the first Model T hit the roads. Now, show us which of these BE companies went under specifically because of the direct order model. Finally, consider that companies like Ford see in a benefit in that direct model as well or else they would not be going that route. Here's the "short" list of failed companies since the advent of the automobile. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_defunct_automobile_manufacturers_of_the_United_States
  7. The Model S weigh 4800 lbs which is basically the same as this Toyota. Their weight savings is mostly in the cheap build with the single stamp method being just for starters.
  8. I’m sure you will lol…until the next time. Fun fact: All EVs are heavy.
  9. And here's what those numbers don't take into account regarding area like Phoenix metro. Six months out of the year, there are an additional 500K to 1 million "snowbirds" from all over staying in that area, creating even more strain on depleted water resources. It is baffling the level of growth mismanagement that has been allowed to happen there. Glad to be done with it.
  10. Same.
  11. Anytime Balth brings up the weight of any EV.
  12. Exactly how many more excuses are you going to make here? Duh! EVs are heavier than their IC counterparts. This is a shock to literally no one but you apparently. And that bed and its "double wall" is in no way even remotely as heavy as the same back end of a Tahoe or an even closer comparo (since they are built on the same damn platform), a Suburban. A Suburban is closer to the length of your truck than a Tahoe and weighs more at 6,000lbs (minimum). Stop acting like these are equal here. FFS. You have 6.5ft of an empty space truck bed that you are attempting to compare to the rear of an SUV that has a roof, seats, airbags, insulation out the ass, etc. If you don't see how this DOES NOT COMPARE, then there is literally no hope for you here. The point here is that is ignorant to compare and SUVs weight to a damn pick up. It is just baffling that this has to explained to someone with such knowledge about cars over the decades. What's heavier @balthazar? An empty crate or the same size crate with several hundred lbs. in it (like seats, a roof, etc)? Apples to damn apples.
  13. Your truck does not weigh less than 5000 lbs. and now you are conflating, deflecting, and moving the bar all at once. And big shock on any pick up being lighter. Sure, its longer but it also that has that big empty ass bed back there so again, not even close to apples to apples. Hell by your logic, a Tahoe is too heavy since its 30 inches shorter than your truck yet weighs up to 700 lbs more. Maybe you really should stop now since you apparently just love going out of your way to take any $h! on any EV without proper context (most of the time) or merit. Your initial comparo was dumb, end of story. The biggest problem with your "analysis" is that you think that EV weight is such a big damn deal, in the first place. Again, it has been discussed (many times)why this ins't the issue you constantly make it to be. Don't know if you keep ignoring that fact or if you just want to be deliberately confrontational at every EV turn, but there it is.
  14. Okay SMK, I am going to say to you what I have to him in these incidences. Until you have sat and driven said car that has yet to be sold here, you have no clue as to its "stellarness" in regards to its build. You are only using your past bias about a company you clearly don't like no matter what they put out. You are moving the bar too. You made a pointless weight comparison and now you are just saying to want them to weigh less (which you supported by comparing a sedan to a CUV). Just pointless and bitching for bitchings sake.
  15. You're taking the Bill Wise mantle in stride aren't you? The S weighs less because of two things: 1. It is a sedan while this is a CUV/SUV (Toyota calls it an SUV). Length does not factor that heavily here. 2. The Model S is built cheap as $h! to begin with hence that lighter weight. This has already been discussed on may occasions. The comparison is like comparing an Equinox to the Malibu. The Malibu is ten inches longer while weighing 300 lbs less in most trims. It is a pointless comparison, is the lesson here because they are two different types of vehicles. Any other phantom complaints about the obvious?
  16. He showed and told you exactly why yet you think it has to do with length when he clearly told you otherwise.
  17. The blatant lack of context around here is earning me a long needed break because there really are better things to do with my time than going back and forth with folks who have already made up their minds before even posting.
  18. Good grief. Not debating the difference in price with school buses. What I found odd, and hence why I provided an article about it, os that CITY BUSES are much more closely priced. Why are EV school busses such a big jump over gas buses is beyond me when city busses are not. I guess one of the biggest differences would be the total lack of AC in school buses when compared to city buses but there has to be more to it than that. And I would love to know which part of my earlier post is "funny". And since there is this thinking that up front price is the be all, end all, I submit some context on the claims. https://www.publicpower.org/periodical/article/electric-buses-mass-transit-seen-cost-effective
  19. Deflection because, as a matter of percentages, there are more luxury cars on the EV side than IC. EVs started with luxury cars so it is easily explained. And the Equinox is another GM EV and it's shooting for $30K so...
  20. Well since one is skewed by a relative abundance of luxury EVs, that is not surprising. What should “surprise” everyone is how the IC new vehicle transaction price was $41K barely six months ago. $500K for an EV bus is cheaper than current diesel options. This was written three years ago, https://www.liveabout.com/bus-cost-to-purchase-and-operate-2798845 And I quote, ”Diesel buses are the most common type of bus in the United States, and they cost around $550,000 per vehicle (according to a 2016 study).”
  21. And that will be a LWB version that the states will get which includes a larger battery pack. As far as "zero options", there is nothing to confirm that. Furthermore, it is entirely possible that it doesn't need "options", which is a loaded and subjective word anyway. And yes, near $50K is steep but again, let's see how it is actually packaged here first before damning another EV on price alone. Being that it will use the same setup as a top trim ID.4, I don't see why it won't have AWD.
  22. Yet your initial comparison was a smaller Rivian. That's what I am getting at here and thanks for the correction. I guess I could have looked at your Ride thread but I didn't. My point about comparing your truck to a Rivian still stands though. So you are using your exception to the rule as a basis for that gap? That is not "apples to apples" because if you were shopping both currently then you sure as hell would not have scored your GMC for $8K LESS than MSRP and that is a simple fact. You would be paying closer to $60K around here.
  23. Going to have to disagree with you there. Chevy has not one direct competitor for Jeep, and definitely when it comes to true off road SUVs like the Wrangler. I’m not sweating the naming use of the Blazer like Mr fake outrage above but to say that Chevy competes with Jeep is a reach. …or EQS, EQE, etc.
  24. I don’t know if I’ve ever said this about a VW but I really want that! I have never been a fan of VW but I have always had a thing for the Microbus.
  25. It matters when you are comparing your full size short bed truck to a smaller shorter bed truck when the Lightning more closely aligns with your truck, all things equal outside of the powertrain of mode of propulsion of course. The main difference between yours and the Lightning is that yours is not a full four doors, if memory serves me right. A crew cab will always cost more than an extended cab, regardless of whether is an EV or IC, certain packages notwithstanding.
