  1. lol the little kickup at the nose end of the headlights immediately make me think of the Saturn Ion sedan headlights. It's ok, but I'm not getting excited about the look.
  2. probably just use a standalone fuel & spark management setup.
  3. can't see the image...
  4. The bump in the floor on most FWD cars is a passageway for the exhaust so it doesn't get ripped off the car, or require the car to sit an extra 6" off the ground. It's also far more subtle than a driveshaft hump.
  5. change the oil before you start it. The old oil may have water condensation in it, which is bad. Plus you said it's really thick, so that's bad. Also, filling it back up will run oil down through the engine, so you don't have a dry start-up. Charge the battery. Fill the coolant (and watch for any leak points) Pray. lol
  6. ...with a lot more standard options...
  7. I'm not finding it exciting, but it's not offensive either. Affordable RWD is certainly a good thing. I'm still trying to figure out the headlights, they look like a bad photoshop in the 1st & last pictures, with the further lamp looking twice as big as the closer one, but I'm assuming these are photographs, and that is just something about the angle of the photo and the lenses. The front gave me a slight G6 vibe at first glance, but it doesn't seem to be a ripoff design.
  8. lol, rant about speculation, then make a random comment trying to insert your own reason as to why a person hasn't been around in a while.
  9. Ya know, a fuel efficient version could actually take customers away from the small pickup world, I think. A lot of people who buy small pickups just want to be able to haul something occasionally, and the load capacity on this is plenty for that for most people. Plus it's hot.
  10. pretty much, but there seem to be some small differences. The Carl's Jr I went to out here didn't have the mushroom swiss burger that the Hardees' I'd been to in IN had.
  11. Pontiac is car... yup, still lame. Commercial was pretty decent, tho.
  12. I could see Ford going through a bankruptcy. I don't think they'll disappear. I could see a Ford brand or two disappearing in the next ten years, though.
  13. you know what this means for future vehicle weights...
  14. And their reputation change has been mostly in the last less than 10 years, from "complete piles of crap" to "a slight cut below Toyota" (as you put it), which puts it regarded as a respected mainstream car. How is that not a move up? VW started out regarded probably worse than KIA. Now the biggest thing holding them back is quality issues and the reputation that goes along with that. I think a lot of people think they're more expensive than they are, too. The Phaeton was too big of a jump all at once for VW. I'm not saying "let's tack another $10k on every Cadillac right now!" Every bump up has to be legit - new technology, higher quality materials, better service, etc. Bump up each new model by $5k (legitimized by vehicle content also being bumped up, but production cost not increasing at an equal amount as sale price), and maintain the bump over the course of a product life cycle with updates. Ten years go by, and Caddies are $10k more than they used to be (more, if they can manage it), and a bit further out of Buick territory. If the market will then allow for a sub-CTS car without diluting the brand image (which I think it would at this time), then do it.
  15. Hey, fresh fallen snow is a sneaky bastid. It held off, made everyone think it was becoming spring, and then, just when I leave the hood off my car for the night...
  16. yeah, the increased cost of corn spreads to other products... and people with whine & complain about it... and still pay it. It's called change, and it's gonna happen. Besides, it's not like corn is the only ethanol source. It may even get phased right back out as other more efficient ethanol production methods take over.
  17. tell that to Hyundai, VW, and others.
  18. IMO, GM should take Caddy further upscale (raise the profit margin, not the sales volume), which would make Buick more relevant again.
  19. a 7-year old washer should've been fixable... but it sounds like things worked out well. Dryers run FOREVER. They don't have to deal with the moisture levels washers do. (worked selling appliance repair parts for quite a while)
  20. +1 - you have to ask yourself about a shared component... does that say something bad about the Caddy... or something good about the Chevy?
  21. Looks good to me.
  22. Some of you seem to have misunderstood this thread. This is not the "what manufacturer/brand do I WISH would go away." It's meant to be a realistic look at brand and manufacturer performance & making a prediction.
