  1. call me whatever you like, but i miss the performance, shift smoothness and mpg of the SC3.8/4t65 in my GP. the 3.6 is a nice mill, tho, and sounds better. unfortnately, the A6 needs a lot of work in the programming department. it shifts like my moms accord sometimes. i like it. you may lick my balz. pfft. get in line behind northy.
  2. when did buick have 15 models at once?
  3. ive driven ETC equipped C5s, C6s and a couple of 04+GPs. in all of them, it was transparent. i hear the same from truck owners. but this new aura is a different story. now that ive adjusted to it, its ok. i wish i knew why GM can make it work flawless in some vehicles but not others. at least its not a camry.
  4. glad its funny. i was gonna put a pic of bricklin in there, but i couldnt think of anything for him to say.
  5. most horseappples arent recognized for what they are, either. but, they are still full of $h!.
  6. i dont think toyota quality has dropped at all. your avalon sounds like a couple of camrys some friends own(ed) over the years. toyota has just become more responsible and transparent in dealing with the problems their cars have. whereas the old toyota just offered free oil changes to friends of mine whose corolla uses/burns half its oil capacity (since new) every 3-4K miles, the new toyota might actually fix the car.
  7. there should be a law. automotive analcysts should be required to pass basic competency and IQ tests. proctologists for the latter, i guess.
  8. i just got my aura last week. i hope the convenience of a 4 door doesnt grow on me. bazzy, i surely would have opted for a coupe. lets hope, for my sake, that your chop gets "Little Bob" Lutz as excited as it has gotten "Little Bizz" (a.k.a "Moses" or "The Persuader")
  9. headers have been out for the fwd 3.8 for a few years. TOG with either 1 5/8 or 1 3/4 primaries (now practically dead, tho, snag a set if you can find them), SLP and S&S make sets. several cat backs are available too, from gmpp, slp, borla, dynamax and even corsa. but, the biggest restrictions in the factory exhaust are the "u-bend" just after the cat and the double-walled section of the downpipe prior to the cat followed by the resonator and the cat itself. cat backs will help some, but spending that money on replacing the above items will net more gain. btw, dont ever replace the resonator with straight pipe, it will sound worse at WOT than stock. stick a bullet muffler or glasspack/cherry bomb in there. please! :P on an l67 car, DP and ubend mods are good til mid to high 13s. the stock ignition system, in good condition, except the damned platinum plugs, has been proven good enough for 11 and 10 second passes. if you are on a budget, you will see far more gain spending money elsewhere. keep your coilpack terminals clean, good wires on the car and proper heat range copper plugs (in an l67 car, plats are fine N/A) and your ignition system is good to go. DHP is the pcm editor to get, but for a lightly modded car, one of their reprogrammed pcms is a good choice, too, especially with the new price (100). IMO, the KN intake is inferior to other airboxes on the market which cost less. the smooth intake tube is nice, but not worth it since the filter is exposed to radiant engine heat. the "home depot" DIY fenderwell intake can be made for a tenth of the KN price + filter cost and draw much cooler air in. a guy i know owns this store: http://www.wbodystore.com/wbody/ nice guy, with a lot of good shtuff at good prices. if anyone is looking for more performance from their 3800, i suggest emailing them and/or joining a 3800-dedicated forum for info.
  10. realistically, you will gain little to no HP by putting functional ram air on your car. take a look at the underside of one of those hoods. not only is the air path constricted with sharp turns, but it also gets heat soaked from rising heat from the engine. so, even the cooler air advantage is severely limited or eliminated altogether. if your car is supercharged, fuhgettaboutit, you wont gain anything. how would ram air, even if it works, force any more air into an engines intake manifold already pressurized to 8psi by an SC? :AH-HA_wink: SC or NA, you should look here: http://www.wbodystore.com/wbody/
  11. i bought a complete built unit with 3.69s (single-chain), hardened input shaft, 3000 stall TC, shiftkit, etc with fixes for the known weak points a couple of years ago. and yes, you will benefit, as far as performance, with a gear change. you may spin easier, but you'll be quicker when you arent. just buy better tires. :) there is a site, somewhere, that lists some of the known problem areas. i'll see if i can find it for your guy. he should also research GP forums for info. and the ecotec buildbook .pdf has some good info on the tranny since the 4t65 is used in their FWD drag cars. GMR will, or has already, come out with some hard parts and an LSD for the tranny, too. if you just want solid mid to low 13s and wont be using slicks, the single-chain drive might be the only major upgrade you will need. oh yeah, the higher stall 245mm TCs wont bolt to your flexplate unless you drill 3 extra holes in the right places. so, if you get the TC, look into an aftermarket flexplate. here is that site: http://shop.modbug.com/displayProductDocum...7&categoryId=20 havent heard anything good or bad about this place, though.
  12. you should seriously consider upgrading to a single drive chain if you want it to last. iirc, chain stretch is the leading cause for hardpart failure. this will also allow you to change the FDR from 2.93 to 3.29 or 3.69. with a FDR change, you will need a new reluctor wheel for the VSS or your shift points will be off and cause you trouble. after that, you can either have the PCM reflashed for the new FDR or wire in a recalibrator. best thing would be to get a PCM editor and ake the changes yourself. there are LOTS of improvements that can be done. make sure your guy does his homework.
  13. maybe 7 is for frozen eggos, erm, eggoes...eggi... FROZEN WAFFLES.
  14. my cars MPG suffered very little before i did gears and converter. it would still get over 30mpg (all highway, mind you, like on a trip) when it was running 13-flats. im not saying your above example isnt true, just that more HP doesnt necessarily equal big MPG drop.
  15. it occured to me that many of you dont really know that much about me. the first thing you should know is that im famous and i rock... in a not-so-famous, not-so-rockin way. not only does my clothing and accessories line far outsell those of my friends, but i am also very popular abroad. the danish, for example, are particularly big fans. they even have a TV show on public access channel 7 dedicated to me and how i rock in various ways. here is the site: http://www.prosieben.de/lifestyle_magazine...bizz/fuer_fans/ its flattering, but quite embarassing at the same time, so please dont translate the page. they just blather on about my boyish good looks, prowess in bed and the like. the brazilians also dig me. down there, and all over latin america, a Magazine keeps fans of me up to date on all things bizz. here is a special music issue that included my "20 hottest bands". here is one with an expose on my kidney troubles. i dont have editorial control over the magazine, so i surmise mick jagger being on the cover is to illustrate the irritating nature of the condition. i have no explanation for this one. lots of people got fired, though, i promise you that here is a pic of a video for sale in germany consisting of some home movies of mine that were stolen during a lufthansa flight. i wont really say anything about this other than the cigar smoking femme fatale is my 7th grade art teacher, Mrs. Mathers. im sure you can guess whats on the tape. dont bother asking me for ordering info, either. of course, my environmental efforts have won me some fans here in the US, too. Here is a trail that was named after me, well, a part of me, at least. from what i hear, its a long, hard hump up and down the trail that always satisfies those who choose it. also, every year i travel to the netherlands to host and judge a ladies beauty and talent contest. here is the award bestowed upon the lovely woman who gives the best "ondernemer" (pronounced on-der-KNEE-mer). there is also a website for and dedicated to women who wish to have a chance to please me. http://www.bizz.pl/serwis_uroda// as you can see, it offers hopefuls tips on what hairstyles to sport, caring for that hair, how to dress, proper skin care and how to have pouty lips. well, i think thats enough for now. i dont want to be immodest or anything.
