  1. Lake Sherwood used to be unspoiled with nothing around it. I am actually sorry it had to be developed. I loved the fact that "the country" was so close by. Also, some of these photos are touched up ( ) - should be more brown than green.
  2. I know my parents had some stuff with Principal Groupd in DSM. Gold leafed domes are cool, without a doubt. Did you like your internship there?
  3. You are not alone in liking to look at cities...do you like to look at maps of them, too, to see how they are laid out? I think I could pick out most cities if unlabeled just by their layout of major arteries and natural features such as rivers. I like the engineering building. Who did it?
  4. Even I have taken this picture(!)...though a little bit further up and closer to the Saddledome. I liked that Calgary is closer to Banff and the Rockies. It's also probably a little warmer. And I found a Greek restaurant that had a lunch buffet. For Albertans, what are the pros and cons of Edmonton/Calgary? I am sure they are viewed as rivals.
  5. Never saw this view, probably because I never went to the east of downtown. Stratchona and the West Ed Mall and the Royal Fork Buffet ( ) are to the west of downtown.I drove over this bridge a lot, I think. This is probably why I never saw any waterfalls. I was there in November 2004. It was chilly. I fear how cold it could actually get.

  9. I think that's what happened in our household. I've seen it happen in others. The incoming spouse feels threatened by any ties and tries to pull the sibling away from their family members, even if it means being a troublemaking bitch or bastard.
  10. I think I've run this one before, but we have quite a few new people.Birth order is interesting and actually regarded as being somewhat psychologically valid. That being said, where are you in the birth order, how many kids are there and what are the genders of those older and younger than you? Also, which ones do you get along and not get along with? My answer: I'm the youngest of 2 - same parents for both - oldest is a brother. Do not get along with him (have not spoken with him since 1995, or thereabouts).

  14. Scharm, I had a 6 speed in a rented Milan and the extra shift points seemed unidentifiable, nor did it drop the rpms and I got NO additional gas mileage over rented LaCrosses, Impalas and Monte Carlos. No opinion on CVTs as I have yet to rent one.
  15. It's spelled "phlegm" -- My response: afterbirth
  16. Everything I've ever read points the finger at the Series II. Mine is obviously Series I. Are those pretty much hassle free? (Closing in on 230K right now). Any news on Series III with electronic throttle control? What's the weak link in the 3100/3400? I generally don't like those as much.

  18. Michelin for me, but that's for a passenger car that requires a smooth ride. You can get them at Costco, if you happen to have one in your area. That's all I've ever bough after OEM, except for some BF Goodrich tires which were also decent.

  22. Hate to see you go, Chris, being that you're a So. Cal. person "by annexation"! The thread's back and forth started getting boring and off-track, so I didn't follow it. It's unfortunate that debates over sexuality seem to polarize people on this site whereas it's religion and politics in other settings. I am sure you know that you, and anyone else departing the site for whatever reason, is always welcome to return. Also, people's lives seem to run in chapters and maybe this is one that is on the verge of closing for you. Whatever you decide, I wish you well. Robert.

  25. I'll try to inject a little humor here. I logged on in the library lab at school prior to going to my evening class last night. I wondered what the people sitting in the computer lab row behind me were thinking...alternating pictures of the Vietnamese chick with (obvious) contact lenses and Jake (Gyl-spelling) without a shirt.... and girls and guys ....and girls and guys. Lately, any sexual thread (or thread that went down that road) has gotten awfully heated. Yikes. I've blown up a few times, too, but only when people start pointing fingers....not cool when you don't know someone, except from cyberspace. If it is kept clinical and analytical, there should be no harm.
