  3. Arizona's are ok...it used to be that burgundy/white made AZ and MO look an awful lot alike. The Ski Utah ones were simple...the Monument Rock ones are too much.
  4. People get bent out of shape when the plates only show a segment of what the state is about. In the case of Michigan, the bridge at Mackinac (sp) which is so far removed from the population centers might bring on that reaction, though indeed a beautiful area. I think that the new one has a little bit too much going on, or it could have been composed differently. A lot of the new plate designs just aren't that good IMHO.

  7. Oh, right, I agree, and I've never been called a "metro," though I think it is a funny word. I probably think it's the neat writing thing that contrasts with how messy I keep my place, how messy I keep my office, my coupon cutting for a haircut (and anywhere else I can save a buck)and the fact that people I work with have told me I ought to dress better to the office (OUCH)...I have the suit/tie wardrobe and it is conservative and very nice, I just think it's misplaced in architecture so I go casual (Costco has the Polo jeans for $21.99 or some Eddie Bauer slacks, an ok shirt and some loafers...no tie). Have always wanted to see the Hamptons...there is a mystique to them to those of us on "the Coast" who have heard about them...I did drive my Cutlass Supreme with a CA plate out the L.I.E. quite far once, but I think I would have known it if I was in the Hamptons!
  8. Oh, you're a clever one. My response to thread: double entendre

  10. Agreed. I remember in undergrad (yeah, that college...LOL) during a speech and communications class as a freshman, the prof. handed out a paper we had to read on androgyny stating that androgyny is actually more realistic/common than the extreme polarization of the genders. (The article was in no way tied to sexuality). That being said, I have damn near-perfect printing (I'm an architect) and damn near-perfect penmanship (all that Catholic school) and you would not believe all the stupid-ass bull$h! comments bordering on that it is gender inappropriate I have to listen to. I like my printing and handwriting, so I'm not changing it. It's nuts that neatness and cleanliness are considered "less than masculine."

  12. Thanks. I know when I want to purchase. There are better investments out there besides cars.
  13. Tips for dealership visits? Go at night...when they are closed. Want to test drive a car? Find a rental fleet that has the vehicle and go that route....and it makes for a more comprehensive test drive than what you can do at the dealer. Bottom line: Don't hit the showroom until you are ready to fill out the credit app, know how much the MSRP is and what you will pay.
  14. Oh, yeah, razor ... that he is. What's with the popularity of the term "metrosexual"? Does it overlap gender confusion? Two chicks at my place of employment (interns, right out of college) love to toss around the term "metrosexual." And you didn't answer my Dr. Ruth question, sir! J/K.
  15. Not quite. It's anatomy related. My response to thread: heirloom
  16. This crap should be under warranty...the electronics/emission controls system is under a longer warranty. Is service engine soon showing up? Like an ass, I rented one of these and drove it to Denver and back...I got 32, 33 and 34 mpg on every tank. The overall rendition of this car is like being on intravenous demerol, but it is undoubtedly a solid car in most cases. I still can't get over the mpg...and I wasn't even trying.
  17. You offer some of the most "sophisticated" advice on C&G. :AH-HA_wink:
  18. Well then, young man, we have to agree to disagree!
  19. Explain....seriously. LOL. Just this morning I was sitting at Starbucks doing a school case project I have to turn in tomorrow night and 3 German tourists sat down at the next table, writing postcards. I wound up talking to them for 1/2 hour or so and they wanted a lot of pointers on what to do/not to do in Cali. They were a riot to talk to. I guess it was a "Dr. Ruth moment."

  25. Much cleaner. I would have never made the association with Cardinals and Wildcats...both of those are duped at so many schools...Huskies are at both UW Seattle and U Conn. I don't think the slogan is that bad...it's actually decent.
