  1. i was suspecting FCAPSA whatever they are called now might try to shove that 2.0 turbo in the Pacifica. Maybe into the Voyager later..... I am going to see, the reason they didn't rush this out, they had to try to get the AWD to work while still keeping the Sto N go. looks like they did it!. Chrysler vans are hugely popular in Canada, this is a great move to keep the interest up in that market. I'm going to have to sit down tonight with a hot towel and fresh mixed big whiskey coke and slowly read through the arousing press release in full.
  2. FALSE, this pacifica owner says the v6 is probably the best one I've driven or had. Who are those losers saying its a sewing machine. YES TO THE ADDITION OF ALLWHEEL DRIVE!! LOve these changes! Spouse didn't want another minivan but these are such great family vehicles! Now adding AWD may just mean I don't need to get a crossover! Since i got the tourx i have had remorse about not getting a higher seat vehicle and was thinking maybe i should trade cars with my wife for awhile. Maybe I look at getting the Pacifica for myself...... Pacifca so far has been the best vehicle I think we / I have ever owned in terms of it being enjoyable and functional. The AWD will knock the gas mileage a bit. But it averages 24-25 summer and 22-23 winter as it is so it will probably get 20-22 with AWD. You said the AWD comes with 'models equipped with the v6'....all pacificas are 6 cylinder.... another reason to love it. no buzzy 4. OHHHH MORE OF A REAL CONSOLE TOO! SWEET
  3. Too bad the CT5 is sort of not attractive. So much else to like about the car. I'd love a CT5-V turbo six regardless. I've had an Aztek I can handle a certain amount of ugly.
  4. the speed of adoption of more electric propulsion on cars will depend more on refueling infrastructure. When we can fill our cars in 5-15 minutes, literally in nearly the same number and prime locations of places where we currently get gasoline, while we stop to pee and grab snacks..... and i don't see jack in terms of that happening in ten years at this time. 20 years out, maybe. Need electrical service and grid and FAST chargers to everywhere where gas is now. And they know this, that is why we are still only seeing incremental technology on automobiles with electric. Battery design will also need more time like that till we get to the point where the battery is not so huge, not so expensive, not so dangerous, and not requiring so much toxic metals from kids in 3rd world countries. And finally price of electric cars will have to become nearly equal with gas equivalent for the average consumer vehicle. https://www.wired.com/story/segway-bringing-hoverchairs-wall-e-life/
  5. not to mention already needing to retire and dismantle recently built turbines and disposal or recycling of said items is an issue. 10 years maybe in some cases.
  6. this i agree. on the new Chevy Trailblazer it's only got a 1.2 to start with! particularly for a state fleet vehicle that may only serve to be a company car for a desk employee to drive up to meetings and back a handful of times a week.
  7. https://carfromjapan.com/article/car-maintenance/how-much-gas-does-idling-use/ at 1/2 a gallon of gas per hour and 2.50 per gallon of fuel.......it would require 8,000 hours (333.33 days) of idling to burn 10k in fuel. In the case of the Pacifica being a plug in, now you're burning electric energy created from fuel anyways or inefficient and costly and toxic renewable energy. And storing it in a big ass battery with toxic materials.
  8. in the case of a pacifica, its not worth it for a state fleet to spend 10 grand more, or more, for a multipassenger vehicle.
  9. Purely now after seeing tv ads for these, the lumpy dumpy CX-5 is for OK BOOMERS and this sleek CX-30 is for the younger set and those that don't like the slab sided, compatively piggish look of the CX-5. Neither of the two groups wanting the weird Mazda3 hatch.
  10. when i was traveling the other day i passed two newer state fleet vehicles that would normally likely not otherwise be fleet vehicles. A plug in hybrid Pacifica and a hybrid RAV4. MN passing cheesy renewable energy mandates, they must have been extending orders to start spending big bucks on purchasing EV fleet vehicles to appear to be in sync with being green. I suppose in some cases the hybrid costs more; in the case of the Pacifica, a lot more then buying a cheap ass grand caravan. Not that state fleets will be buying Corsairs, but you never know....... at least the new Escape is a hybrid again.
  11. I sort of think this redesign takes a step back from the previous version. It's sort of chunky and not particularly rakish. That said, it's ok and not offiensive. It doesn't appear to be a space efficient shape.
  12. usually in my neck, premium is +40 over regular at most typical stations but i get most of my fillups now at costco. Premium at Costco most days is about 20 cents higher than regular at typical stations. You can argue the true cost of a costco membership, but if you are getting one already due to the great meat, big ass cheesecake and pumpkin pie, and the GM costco rebate potential, then it can help save on premium.
  13. GM down over 2%. When you cut ‘low profit cars’ and sedans like the Cruze and such you may be losing profits but weakening your market share can also be detrimental long term. actually too. Ram up 18% that alone contributed a lot to GM’s decline.
  14. i thought MKZ also. so then my next question to myself would be why not just find a good CPO low mileage MKZ..... (with the 400hp turbo v6)
  15. so has Chevy Blazer!!!!! now admittedly, what a Blazer is, is slightly different now.
  16. FIRST EVER K5!!!!!! i thought Kia threw a shitload of market cred out the window when they ditched the Spectra name and went to Forte. Kia hit jackpot on the Sorento and Sportage and Soul names, and also THEY HIT JACKPOT on the Optima name. Cadenza (CREDENZA) not such a good name. WHY WOULD THEY BE SO STUPID TO DITCH ALL THAT? IS KIA GM?
  17. the 35k i refer to is discounted price. usually those msrps will be 40ish. there are Blazer Premiers out there, stickering for 55 grand. That is stupid ludicrous expensive. In spring 2020 when some of those 19 premiers are still on lots (after 18 months), maybe then they will go out the door for 42,000.......
  18. you will rarely find an AWD blazer for much less than 34-35 right now, and that's basically cloth seats. Enjoy that FWD blazer with 4 banger if you like. The Santa Fe has the size of the Blazer and admittedly with its 4 cylinders, but the truth is they can add lots of options to the Santa Fe that it will have at the 35k price that Chevy won't have. So from a utlity standpoint the Santa Fe is the size of the Blazer and offers lots more options and amenities for a lower price. The only advantage the Blazer would have is powertrain but in 2020 Chevy will load up the sales floor with much more of the new 2.0 turbo models at that price range than the v6's which they want to eventually only offer to those shopping in the 50k range. WHICH IS MY POINT EXACTLY. those 19 blazers have likely sat on that lot since early this calendar year. Hard to run a business with stagnant inventory.
  19. Mary and GM clearly want the poor people to stick to buying the Equinox and Terrain. Then, the 'privileged' who really want a true mid size vehicle, the figured they could charge 55k for a loaded Blazer instead of the 40k Impala it functionally replaces. In addition to that, make it in Mexico, too. Honestly the Blazer would sell big in volume at lower prices, but clearly volume is not the goal. GM is fine with letting inventory sitting on their lots for a year or two before they get an actual clue that they might need to adjust prices to market. I just think its sad that GM opens the door for competitors like Hyundai to gain volume in the market, and in this case even more and more.
  20. you wouldn't believe the Murano lease deals around here recently. A Murano S almost the cheapest lease lately. If you're buying of course its a different story. Nice review writeup on the Sentra, Robert. I think the 2020 or is it 2021 Sentra is a nice improvement. THis current version is not bad but i would definitely wait for the new version of Sentra over both the Versa and current Sentra. It would be one of those deals where depending on lease incentives a current month the new Sentra and now current Altima could be darn close to each other OTD payment wise. The Altima with AWD i think opens up a new market for Nissan to keep sales of sedans going in its showrooms..... The Kicks is a nice ride also, but I want to see what the new Trailblazer looks like before anything in that segment now. I still would spend money in a Nissan before a Hyundai or Toyota I think myself.
  21. Liking the ride. The 2.0 is quite nasal-ly but it seems to be getting broke in / smoother. MPG is down now with winter and shit winter blend although I still most often go to costco and put top tier premium in it. Defintely justifies the costco membership to save 20-40 cents a gallon on the premium. I'll probably take it for an oil change in the next couple weeks. Wife and I stole a lunch hour recently and went to the local BBQ joint. Parked right next to a red hot 2019 Blazer. Wife (without prompting) commented on how 'cute' the Blazer was. She generally doesn't comment on cars, so she must have really saw something she liked. I then informed her that if we hadnt gotten the TourX, the Blazer in exactly that color was the runner up but that the numbers worked out better on the TourX for more stuff, too. Recently there has been statements like, we don't need a van next time, and 'the van's too big'. And so methinks that depending on what happens with less than year left on the Pacfica lease now, she may just fine with the red hot Blazer I never got instead of the TourX. In the meantime, whenever i drive something like our van and get back in the TourX, i just think that despite my wanting to capitulate to the modern way of an SUV for better ingress and egress, I just enjoy driving the TourX so much. It's not a luxury vehicle, and it's not perfect... but the interior design and the driving position and the console lend a sporty intimate (but not too much so) feel that so many vehicles....particularly CUV's and SUV's....do not have. Even sedans. Someday, and maybe sooner rather than later I will hop on the CUV bandwagon. But for now, the nice handling and ride, good reflexes of a sedan like vehicle with AWD for the winter and nice pulses of turbo torque make for a nice ride. It's been enjoyable so far and it's cool how it's unique in the sea of the mind numbing automotive landscape.
  22. there is getting to be quite of few of these with dealer plates on them (just sold) driving around here now, I am sure Hyundai has opened the deals and credit tap on these things. And then Chevy has the 50,000 dollar Blazer, and I don't see very many of them.
  23. there was a camry driver in front/side of me the other day, about that age, weaving all over, driving like badly drunk but likely just they couldn't stay in the lane themselves anymore. I suppose those lane keep assists will help those people. I thought i was going to get hit a few times.
  24. Good design finally for a basic Toyota. Interior looks good. Like the amount of features. Although 28k for very little power Meh. For this car I’d trade off 30 extra hp and torque to lose 2 mpg
