i drove a caliber at the ride and drive last fall and it was horrible. i never wanted to get out of a vehicle so fast. my God, the last gen mitsubishi outlander is a far superior vehicle to the caliber and compass, honestly. PT even feels nicer. ford's cvt was good, haven't tried any others but i liked the shiftless feel. i assume chrylser botched it. so many of these 4 cylinder hatches are getting terrible mpg. escape, element, PT etc. barely get much over 20 in town if you go by reader reviews. makes me appreciate the aztek. 20-22 mpg consistently. quiet and spacious. more enjoyable to drive than rattle traps like the compass. paid a lot less too. and the compass is just as unsightly. i used to tell folks looking at little buses like this to take a good hard look at a heavily discounted SWB chrysler van instead. maxx would be a good caliber alternative.

i did a dumb thing and bought a smoothie maker on clearance at walmart a few months ago. worked great the first couple times. the spout was cool. third time? well, let's just say it was close to burning and the smell was terrible. haven't used it since. my guess is its shot but wife didn't wanna throw it away. made in china. -edit- whoa! nothing says buy American like this.......... http://www.shopforamerica.com/product.php?...cat=&page=1 reasonably priced, too. talk about stretching the budget.

'marry off and disappear into the suburbs or the country' LOL i just wonder if at least there isn't a notably sized group of women that are as wantonly unomongamous as a typical male, just that they cannot be up front about it. Although, i think when a woman wants to become unmonogamous, it probably has as much to do with emotional reasons where men i think its as you said, its programmed into their physicality. Many women use sex as a tool to correct whatever else it is they are unhappy about.
-
translation. women want as much on the side as men. you just don't hear about it?

LOL maybe it should have been a swingers night. but i bet your wife will think you are hotter than ever now. i was a groomsmen in a buddy's wedding a few years ago. my friend's brother was living with a major skank chick who was quite the slut. she was hot though. anyways, she decided she was going to hit on me all night, something that did not go unnoticed by my wife and many others. she was hot. anyways, so to antagonize my wife, she struck up a conversation with my wife and out comes 'i hope you don't mind me talking to your husband, i just can't stay away from him tonight, especially in that tux. i hope you don't mind. i know it just drives me crazy when i see another woman talking to my mike'. my wife is like, 'mind? no, it's a not a problem at all. i know with certainty who he is going to be f-cking tonight'. LOL funnies aside, its interesting how every man i know, straight or gay, all of them would (if they don't already) try for it / get it on the side except that they realize monogamy is important to keep their current relationship in tact. that said, i don't think i know of any married straights they have an agreement on open relationship (rumor is that one girl at work may have agreed to an open relationship) and i really don't know too many gay friend couples although my one buddy who is gay made it sound like he and his bf the only way it works as a couple for them is an open relationship, just conjecture on my part. in the end, it definitely seems to be something you'd both have to agree on. i just found it funny in KH's quote that she is actually being somewhat accepting of this. I am curious to wonder how many women think like men but just don't admit it.

as far as cost, i guess many folks don't know what the going rate is labor and expenses in many industries. I am guessing shop techs might have billed time around 80 bucks an hour (their pay plus taxes and social security and medical and HR costs). then there is the shop and tools to pay for, the building, the phones, utilities, advertising, the receptionist, the toilet paper, the coffee machine........4 hours of shop rate can eclipse 300 bucks quickly. a full day project well over 500. labor only. fine and dandy if you blew the money for tools and you have full days and nights and weekends to be able to tell your s.o., sorry, i'm sitting in the shop working on the car tonight. that's rarely popular when you have wife kids / s.o. vying for your attention and time, and they deserve to have it instead of you hangin in the shop. chances are most folks do not have shop space or tools to do an efficient job on car repairs these days and why should they? Everything is specialized these days. Chances are a novice trying to replace a head gasket by themselves may not be successful. Having adequate tools to do efficient and correct work would be too expensive. Then who is responsible for the botched job? If you pay a specialist you get peace of mind and warranty. Do it yourself and there's always the chance of needing to redo it and waste even more time away from other things and your family. if you have the skills, the shop, and the time, then its nice to save the money. the point should be to drive something that doesn't need much fixing. older cars, while cheap to buy, in my experience reach a point where repairs become more expensive than car payments on a modest newer vehicle. And your car is more trustworthy and there's no unpredictability of not getting to work again because the car is hosed again. in mustang's case, it sounds like the luminaire has been good overall, and at least is still able to make a business case for keeping it awhile longer so he doesn't have to tax his credit with a car loan right now. It's better to wait until he gets on track with the job and the big bucks and then get a cool set of wheels.

one thing though, oil changes at roughly 3k miles will keep your engine purring nicely.

i thought i read the new c class is almost the same weight as the cts. i will dbl check that. re: the v8. i'd prefer a northstar version in the cts-v. not that the small block is bad, but i like the sound and feel of overhead cam. i wouldn't mind a small performance drop in comparison. i.e if the cts-v does 0-60 in 4 seconds I can live with a 4.3-4.4 time. we all forget how much the sts-v powertrain is praised in all facets, even if its not as much of a brute. the next northstar v powerplant will have lots more displacement so it should fall into the brite category at some point i assume. remember, caddy widened the cts track 2 inches. that's what, like 3% increase? 3% increase in size over say 3700 pounds = at least another 100 pounds. WB stayed the same. Look at all the beefed up structure and extra wiring. bigger brakes, etc.

yeah, i do as well on that post. yikes

well, one's chances of doing so would be enhanced with a g8 as opposed to the tight GP...but.....the GP has the fold flat front passenger seat which i think would open me up to a new position on the matter.

from what i hear, extending the BTB warranty now is not all that expensive anymore.
