Took it for it's first flight with the LEDs, and my friend finally got a battery for his T-28 Trojan. It went well until I saw of the corner of my eye his plane slam into the ground and basically blow into pieces, and in that moment of distraction I crashed mine.
His crash caused the engine to be ripped off its housing and out of the plane, breaking the cowl he just put on it, as well as ripping the wings off.
As for mine, I was able to pull it up enough so that the landing gear took most of the damage (it's flexible metal), but it did rip off one of the rubber bands that secured the wing. Since I forgot to put two of the four bands back on in the first place, this caused the wing to shift enough to break one of the wing struts and a wire that runs to the tail LED. Didn't break the propeller though...for once., haha.
So we go to the hobby shop in the next town and get the parts we need. $&.30 and a little soldering later and it was ready to fly.
So it's dusk now and we can really test out how the lights work. This time the wind has settled down and we go through 3 batteries no problem. He was in control of it and turning around to land, when he made a mistake and it ended up cartwheeling on the ground. This ripped the engine mount off (but didn't break it) and fractured the fuselage just forward of the tail.
It's currently at his house while the gorilla glue dries.
So that was my day. This is an accident prone hobby.
