  1. I'm a member of DevinatART. I recently got a message that one of my artworks has been featured in an article. So this is pretty big for me...never had such an important distinction. I go to the article and it's about Pontiac, it's history, and the dreams it left behind.' There's some beautiful photography and Illustrations that any fan of cars, especially Pontiac should check out. ...and as a bittersweet treat for those of you upset by the brand's passing, you'll be glad to know that this is one of those rare articles that doesn't bash the brand. I dunno how accurate it is, but it's a very nice gesture. Only makes me wish my art had been featured for something less sad. Tributes: General Motors No Longer Builds Excitement http://news.deviantart.com/article/79194/
  2. My bad on the typo Oh and don't forget much more rare...and sexy.
  3. Sedan? Then you can get a Pontiac G8 GXP. RWD, V8, 6s-peed, etc.
  4. I will agree that their nitpicking is silly/stupid. Where's the mention of the M5 looking like a horse's ass? Or interior design that looks like any BMW from the 90's?
  5. Well, you want something more individual, so you get a special Camaro that's rare and has the looks and performance to back it up. It's not like Firebirds were exactly rare in their last generation. I see just as many as Camaros. Or here's an idea, take the Camaro and make it into a Firebird, sort of like what's being done to make the Challenger into a `Cuda. Then you'd have a Firebird more rare than any before it. Or buy a C6 Corvette. RWD, coupe, V8, manual, comparatively rare, etc. Or find a way to import a Ute.
  6. I could easily live with the front end's quirks. Plus I bet it looks better in person.
  7. Buy a Camaro, have it turned into a SMS or something. Much more rare. Problem solved.
  8. Did i say it was ok that they made lousy cars? Where did I ever say that? Find those words or shut up and stop putting them in my mouth. That get's really old after a while. I'll try again, and if you don't get it this time, well that's you're own problem. Pontiac is supposed to be focused solely on "excitement". No when only two of those models fits the bill, and only one does it 100% right, there's a problem, whether you want to admit it or not. Dodge is a mainstream brand that sell normal cars with sportier versions of most. Anyway this thread is going nowhere, the sooner the mudslinging stops the better off we'll all be.
  9. No....Dodge is Chrysler's mainstream brand, why is this such a difficult concept to grasp? Their flaws are aging lackluster products like the Avenger, but the products it offers fit in fine with the brand's mission. If you want to draw parallels at least do it right. Chrysler is the lower volume brand, and it's been dragged through the mud. What was once at least "premium" is nothing more than an uglier, reskinned Avenger, the old Pt Crusier that was supposed to go to Plymouth, and the "fancier" Caravan (even though the interior is not ant better). The 300 is all they have that actually is more premium than the Charger, but even then, base models got stuck with hubcaps and the 2.7. So it would be more accurate to compare Chrysler and Pontiac as far as brands being dragged through the mud. Except if the brand went under I wouldn't swear off the entire company and go for a Bentley or some other ridiculous statement.
  10. Dodge = Mainstream like Chevy (therefore the bread and butter of Chrysler) but happens to have more performance models than Pontiac has. Dodge is not the flawed part of Chrysler, the Chrysler brand is. Also if Chrysler doesn't make it through bankruptcy you'll get your wish.
  11. Fiat considering new company to combine Chrysler and GM Europe Fiat's alliance with Chrysler may only be the beginning, as it toys with teh idea of forming an alliance with GM Europe. Follow the jump to learn more. http://www.cheersandgears.com/index.php?showtopic=31750
  12. Apparently, Fiat's alliance with Chrysler is only the beginning. According to a variety of reports coming out of the UK and Germany, the Italian automaker's expansion plans aren't limited to its 20% stake in Chrysler – Fiat is also considering acquiring General Motors' European operations, including Opel, Vauxhall and even Saab. The result could be a new company that spins off Fiat, Lancia and Alfa Romeo, along with Chrysler and GM Europe, into one corporate entity worth around $106 billion and rivaling Volkswagen to become the world's second largest automaker behind Toyota. In an interview with the Financial Times, Fiat's CEO Sergio Marchionne said of the union, "From an engineering and industrial point of view, this is a marriage made in heaven" and with the full support of the automaker's board, Marchionne hopes to have the deal completed in May, with shares of the new company – tentatively dubbed Fiat/Opel – available by the end of the summer. Marchionne believes that the alliance would make Fiat a stronger entity in the global marketplace during the economic downturn and through merging Fiat and Opel's B- and C-segment platforms, along with absorbing Opel's larger D-platform and Fiat's sub-compact A-segment offerings, could save around 1 billion euros each year. Of course, Fiat and Marchionne have a long road ahead. German trade unions are opposed to the deal, citing concerns about job losses and factory closures, and according to the German magazine WirtschaftWoche, Fiat's initial offer of $1.33 billion to acquire GM's European operations was considered too small by the General. Marchionne is scheduled to present Fiat's plan to an assortment of German leaders later today and expect more to follow over the coming weeks. Autoblog
  13. One thing though, I have tried to keep the Front Page updated, so it is a bit insulting to say "it's a joke". Are you expecting 50 updates per day or what? Yeah I'm not in front of my computer 24/7 to ensure every bit of news gets updated, however the big stuff goes there and I like to keep the most important news up for a little while. This is where some help would be nice, so it wasn't just me posting most of the news and updating the front page...and working on the technical aspects of the site.
  14. Ok, I read the article, and it was just as I surmised.
  15. I haven't read their article yet, but from other articles, the Genesis Coupe is the more engaging driver (sharper steering, handing, lighter, etc.) When you're comparing them in a sports coupe shootout, that's what wins the game.
  16. Sounds like warped rotors.
  17. You're whatever I call you.
  18. My income has been crappy for...well...ever. The best I made was a steady $500 a week. Still hunting for some kind of a real job. Then I could supplement that with the $350-$300 I make now and I'd be happy. As far as cutting back. We never went out to eat much, but did get fast food several times a week. However for the past few months I've switch to Subway twice a week (there's one by work where I meet twice a week) and buy and cook my own foods. More emphasis on salads too ( I've been on a Caesar kick). However, I have been spending more money on the cars...I just about $25 in wax supplies. Whenever I get a little extra money I like to put it toward them, mainly my car. I want a set of Caliber SRT4 wheels, I'm shopping around to see if I can get a set of cheap alloys for the Intrepid in the meantime. So eh, I dunno. I just spend within my means, and that keeps me out of trouble.
  19. I can make you one if you like. If you want to see examples of my work besides my own sig, look at K.C.'s CadillacKing3's and PCS'.
  20. What could have been, but alas greed once again destroys yet another historic company.
  21. I've always had a thing for the Luminas/Monte Carlos of the era. They weren't exciting to looka t, but they were designed well and I think have aged pretty gracefully.
