I wouldn't mind owning an older Beetle, they have that cuteness to them the new one could never match. It would be a brilliant move to start making them again for countries like India and China, maybe find a way to sell them in the States too. Although our regulations requiring every car to survive a 150 mph impact with a battleship would probably make that impossible.

I do prefer the chrome ones, which are oddly cheaper, and look closer to stock. As for played out, I see plenty of Civics with Xenons but not with angel eyes. Very few actually, at least in my area. It's not like I plan to buy them anyway, I think an engine followed by a 300M's interior and a nice set of 18" Avenger wheels are far higher on the list. And like I said, mine are one of the few that aren't cloudy. However a set of OEM's can run over $300
