  1. Yeah, because the Korean Aveo is so much better. I may be wrong, but isn't the V6 in the Equinox/Torrent Chinese built? The next LaCrosse is being developed (or at least styled, because they know better than us) in China. I don't like the idea of a Chinese co-developed Chrysler product, but China is far cheaper than America to build products..we all know this, and Chrysler needs to make a profit off of a small car...so thereya go. Hopefully Chrysler will keep the quality in check (at least their standards is better than China's), as well as keeping Chery from stealing things.
  2. SPOILER ALERT!! IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE YET DON'T READ THIS UNLESS YOU WANTS POILERS (AND DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SEE IT!!) Since GMTruckGuy74 started spilling spoilers because he wanted to talk about the movie, and since those of us who have seen it are probably dying to talk about it, I made this thread so we can discuss it without ruining the movie for everyone who hasn't seen it yet. At least, that's the idea I'll start. Do you think we've seen the last of him? If history is any indication, I doubt it. Even with the water pressure 7 miles below sea level, I doubt it would be enough to crush him and the others..plus he has a general knack for coming back...Remember, in Beast Wars, that Megatron ended up in lava, only to return even stronger. Plus, he's Optimus' rival...it just wouldn't be the same! As for a general sequel...I have not heard anything yet, but the movie's ending left the stage wide open for a follow-up. StarScream's escape into space is an indicator he'll form his own group and come back...I liked how in the movie you could sense the tension between him an Megatron, just like old times. Scorpinock is till on the loose as well...as they didn't destroy him... he ended up escaping. He's an interesting character because they never mentioned his name in the movie, and that he never transformed...he's rather feral. Quite different from the Scorpinock in Beast Wars. One thing that somewhat has me confused is why they killed off Jazz...simply because one of the good guys had to die? Even so, being ripped in half doesn't seem fatal for a robot...unless the spark was destroyed, he should have been repairable (he is still a machine, and common knowledge is that the Spark is usually located in the chest. I also wonder why they called it the "All Spark" when it looks nothing like a Spark.
  3. Amazing movie and easily my favorite movie I've ever seen. Giant robots + cars = awesome. But it wasn't just that...the fact that they chose the voice actors carefully, had a very good plot, and remained faithful to Transformers made it just such a great film. I'm going to see it again...and get it when it comes out of DVD!
  4. It's ashame the car is a flop, it's still one of my favorite designs.
  5. Welcome back Chrysler! It would be kinda cool if they could integrate the Pentastar into the winged design... Party Hard, and then make some class leading products once more!
  6. My new favorite movie. It was very well written and surprisingly faithful to the Transformers franchise. Little touches like Prime's face armor that he uses in battle, classic transforming sounds, the tension between StarScream and Megatron, and Megatron and Optimus' rivalry were well captured. Yes, the crowd cheered when BumbleBee became the new Camaro...GM has a sure-fire hit on it's hands if the production looks just like it. It was a a bit of a weak excuse for a transformation from old to new Camaro, but it was for the best Megatron was much more sinister than in other Transformers installments...usually he had an evil sense of humor...not this time...he was just scary. They also used different voice actors for Megatron and Optimus Prime than the norm, but the choice of voice actors was very good nonetheless (Optimus was voiced by the guy who does Toonami announcements). I spotted a Charger SRT-8..although I don't think it got trashed. The Saleen Mustang made a pretty badass Barricade. There's some interesting twists that leave it open to a sequel...but i won't say so as not to spoil it for those who haven't seen it yet...I'm so seeing i again!
  7. The last 2 look fine, but the first one is ugly any way you slice it.
  8. That is so not cool, make sure the city pays for that...lazy bastards.
  9. I want the 360...but really only for Halo3...I can't think of any other exclusive titles that make me want it.
  10. STFU J00 N00B!!11 Anyway, I'd like to know how you an possibly mess up the spelling of "Lumina" After all, a double consonant after a value makes it sound short...So it's "Lumm" like "bum" instead of "Lum" like "Lume" It's basic English people!
  11. Wow thanks, this is a lot of help! Yeah The value cover is pretty easy to get at...I will be tackling it soon. The Injectors....hrm...maybe I'll try a cleaning first...I'm not spending 200 bucks on one for that car The floor holes...maybe I'll have to meet the methods halfway I can do the "correct way" in terms of cuttung the rusted area, making a template, and getting the section from teh junkyard, but I have no experience welding, nor any of the tools...so maybe some JB Weld and some bolts? So would I use the same procedure for the rear wheel well/rocker panel area? Brakes...that sounds pretty easy! So I don't have to disconnect the brake lines (which would require bleeding)? If not then I'll definitely be tackling that soon....they are s o badly warped that the car shudders when slowing down above 45 mph...I usually engine brake with downshifting and light braking to compensate. I guess I should replace the pads while I'm at it. Since your car was at like what, 300K miles? I think that'd be a reasonably say option so long as the car is in good condition...maybe today or tomorrow we'll drive down and take a look/test drive.
  12. The last one is just retarded...but then again so is the guy who can't spell "Lumina"
  13. http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...=18148&st=0 http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...showtopic=18171
  14. It's coo, but not 100k cool...not to me anyway. Plus, I'd drive it, as per it's intended purpose, thereby ruining it's value.
  15. Erm...yeah, I posted that before. Where have you been?
  16. 30 lashings with a wet noodle for you! Shame, shame!
  17. I kinda like it...but why can't VW come up with names that aren't such a pain to pronounce?
  18. Speed-bumps [roadkill]?
  19. Oh yeah, if I do all of this, at the end I'll spray paint it all black..can't look worse than it does now! That, and I'll actually put some effort into the paint job.
  20. If I ever get pulled over...I want it to be by a Charger!
  21. Well, either my mom is going to get a new car or the Shadow will need some serious work done soon..either way it needs to be done, as I want to hang onto it as a first car for my brother or as a winter beater. Here's the major to-do list: Everything probably leaks, with the exception the the head gasket (it was replaced several year ago). That being said, most are small leaks you could live with...but the vale cover gasket needs to be done. It's leaking badly these days, and it's evident as you can see oil all over teh engine and some on the transmission. oil needs to be added every few weeks or so. I have a reapir manual (liek all the cars I work on), and it doesn't look too hard to replace it, but are there any things I should be aware of and look out for? Next up is the fuel injectors and/or throttle body. Basically, the car stalls when it's cold out, and going in reverse sometimes. It usually does this when coming to a stop (just before stopping) or just as you begin to accelerate. The throttle body has been mentioned. So whats better....replace it all together or try to clean it...and how do I go about cleaning these assorted components. If replacing them is the better option...will used ones do fine or do they need to be brand new...and how much would they cost used or new? Mechanically, these are the biggest offenders...but there is some other stuff.. The wiper arm assembly below the cowl needs to be replaced, mainly because of an issue with the windshield washer fluid. Next up is the body... It has rust...and lots of it. That being said, I have a lot of spare parts for it. This includes: Hatch (no spoiler) Passenger Door Passenger Fender (the current one was never replaced after the accident) But the tough parts are the floor plan and the area where the rocker panel meets the rear wheel well (both sides). Those have been rusting for a long time, and at one point sheet metal was bolted onto it to cover it up...but on one side it has fallen off because teh rust spread to where it was bolted to. Should I go to the junkyard and see if I can get those sections cut out and bolt them to the car...or is there a better solution? As for the floor...there's a whole on the driver's side...what's he best way to fix it (detailed instructions on how to patch it would be appreciated! -- I know, it's a lot to do for a silly Shadow, but it's been around for a while and I have sentimental attachment to it...I learned to drive in it. And the Cudas aren't mine yet so I'm not going to put effort or money into them until that changes. That, and, what else is there to do? The intrepid is fine...the Prizm needs front rotors...if I can do it myself then I will but I've never tackled brakes before...is it hard? On a side note...I'm looking at a `93 Buick LeSabre for $600 on Craigslist...it's actually close by and supposedly everything works...maybe we'll take a look. I actually know where it is...how are LeSabres with the 3800? Yeah...it's a lot in one post...sorry!
  22. Look ma, no bangle butt! It looks really good, even the interior...the only thing I don't care for is the busy lines on the lower body...I don't like how they swoop upward the way they do...and how there's 2 of them...1 would be fine
  23. As I recalled, the handling of the Neon wasn't it's weak point...but I haven't driven a PT or a Neon to back that up...likewise I've "heard" that the HHR has tepid handling.
