  1. I'd like to see the Giulia's platform spawn midsize Chrysler and/or Dodge variants, not just the big Charger/300C.
  2. Inappropriate rectal fondling aside...I don't really like the front overhang to be as large as the rear overhang and combine they are more than 2/3 the length of the wheelbase. The GTO and Charger are much more balanced proportionately. For me Short front overhang and longer rear overhangs are ideal. Like so: Also my FWD Intrepid has a shorter front overhang than those RWD G-Bodies. #justsayin
  3. You say that, and its a good point, but old Mopars are a lot harder to get parts for than Ford or GM vehicles. My dad had a hell of a time getting new drum's for the `69 Barracuda.
  4. Been forever since I made a thread, so here's a fun one! I love gadgets, especially useful ones. First up, I have this GearWrench 1/4" drive Roto Ratchet These things are super handy in tight spaces, plus I like how you can use them like a screwdriver once the bolt/nut is loosened up. Some people complain they are fragile (they are 72 tooth), but I think that has more to do with the tool being misused to try and break loose really stuck bolts/nuts. I've had this for several years and never had a problem. Now for breaking stuck nuts and bolts loose, you need a proper tool, like one of these: I have a GearWrench 24" Breaker Bar too, but this one is cool because it telescopes 18-24 inches. Really nicely made too. It's manufactured by Cal-Van. Not really for automotive applications, but this is an extremely handy tool for removing and installing carburetor seats on small engines. It's made by Tecumseh. It's always nice to be able to test your own battery, and while these things get quite hot, they are pretty useful at checking battery health by putting a load on them. The one I have is made by OTC. Say you want to replace said battery, well you have to be careful if you have a security system on your car. Even if you don't its nice not to loose radio presets and be required to drive the car for the PCM to relearn everything. I had a simple memory keeper that plugged into the cigarette lighter and was powered by a 9V battery, but this one is more robust and has an indicator to confirm that it not only has power from the jump pack, but also that its connected to the vehicle successfully. This is a Schumacher (OBD-L) OBDII Memory Saver Detector No auto tool collection is complete without a code scanner. Mine is a MATCO Tools Determinator MD 2007. It's pretty old, but it gets the job done and can stream live data. It has some OBDI connectors too,which is kinda cool, although not all the ones this pictured one has. It's got the nice case though. Finally, the coolest tool I have is what you use when you want to do more than just load test a battery. What if you want to know its exact voltage and CCA rating? What if you want to test the starter and alternator? This handy tool can. It's a Midtronics MDX-650P Battery Conductance & Electrical System Analyzer. I don't use it much, and as such it stays immaculate, but it's been super handy a few times. It can do Flooded/Lead Acid, AGM Flat Plate, AGM Spiral, Marine, Motorcycle, and Lawn/Garden batteries. It can test CA or CCA in or out of the vehicle. It's also got a printer built into it. What are some of the interesting/nifty/specialty tools you guys have in your toy chests?
  5. Thanks! This fall I'm going to try to find time to swap the dash out for a "new" one. Same color, but mine developed a hideous crack from the center of the steering wheel all the way to the base of the windshield last winter. Never seen it on these cars before. It's a job, but it'll be worth it. If I can ever find my first gen key ring, I want to put that in there too. Second gens are just a black plastic ring, first gens are lit and will fit second gen cars.

  8. The wheels are actually aftermarket, they're 18" Mille Miglia Unos with Dodge center caps running on 245/45s. Single best visual upgrade I did for the car. Its funny, when they were first offered to me, I wasn't crazy about them, but quickly grew to love them. They look more visually interesting than solid 5-spoke wheels while still looking OEM. There's not much aftermarket support for these cars, so the mods I've done have come from other LH cars. As mentioned, the biggest overall mod/upgrade was swapping out the 200 hp 2.7L V6 for a 252 hp 3.5L HO V6 out of a 300M. It has a PCM out of an Intrepid R/T, R/T spec front rotors. Suspension wise, its been more of a case of just replacing everything more than making it a HARDCORE racer. So its got new struts, springs, rear mounts, and refurbished OEM front mounts, because all aftermarket front mounts are garbage. It's got new saw bar links and bushings. Basically just making it so everything works, and with the exception of the hood lift supports, everything, including the a/c (big job that was) works. As far as mods, well a picture is worth a thousand words: The gauge cluster is from an LHS (I think the chrome rings look more upscale), seats and center arm rest are from a 300M, chrome shifter is from 2001 only luxury package on 300Ms, it has an overhead travel computer it didn't originally have, and chrome switches and handles. There's more I have planned, but time is always an issue. The theme for all my mods is to keep them subtle and maintain that the car looks OEM.
  9. It does sit high, for "OEM fitment" the rear Monroe Quick Struts certainly don't ride at OEM height. Still, at least they haven't fallen apart like the garbage front Monroe mounts did...twice.

  11. That depends, as a weekend toy the `70, but for something to be able to live with everyday, and still have fun with it, and take it to car shows, the 2010. Although, I'd happily take both.
  12. New lift supports for the trunk. First set were crap, they didn't slow the lid down as it opened and fit poorly. Second set (middle) fit and function perfectly. The lift supports have been not very good since I got the car 9 years ago, but they got to the point where they couldn't keep the trunk open anymore. No longer a problem. Next up will be the hood supports.
  13. If you're in Las Vegas and eat chicken Caesar Salad, and find out that, it gives you the $h!, but you're stuck walking the strip, and almost crap behind some bushes, then you run into a casino and bust down the stall door and $h! all over the place!
  14. I've long felt that gas tank recall was stupid, because at the time those vehicles were manufactured they conformed to the safety requirements of the day. Now a decade later they suddenly aren't. These vehicles aren't exploding left and right.
  15. Considering those cars don't use any components affected by those recalls, no, but who needs intelligent, informed comments on the internet when we get gems like this, right?
  16. It was better before. MOAR GRILL doesn't equate to better design. The only way they can add more grill at this point is to ship it with a gas powered grill, a charcoal grill, and a George Foreman grill.
