  1. 115K out of 179K sales came from just 4 models, yet they have 13 other models.
  2. ^ Down 'only' 4% probably is looked at as 'booming' when your slashing models & employees left & right. CLA down 43%, C down 8% E down 9%, S down 22%.
  3. Hanging out in a quiet residential neighborhood, waiting for a subcontractor to show up. Got to chatting with the elderly woman across the street; I complimented her son's '71-72 C10 pickup in the driveway. She told me he's 10 years into restoring her mother's '62 Bel Air bubbletop (that one I didn't see in the garage).
  4. Mainstream sells tho; you can't NOT have black, white & red. That said; I can see 8 free / 2 extra cost, but I don't get 3 free/7 extra cost. You used to be able to have 15-some color choices, or over 20 at Cadillac... and only times you paid extra for some colors was at Cadillac. ALL modern brands have skimped on their color palettes tremendously.
  5. ^ was looking at Sierras at GMC.com : 3 no-charge paint colors, 7 extra charge. Ugh. I didn't see an option for 'paint delete' either.
  6. To date, there’ve been no EPA numbers on GM diesel trucks : over X weight class are exempt. Ive never seen a rating number for the 6.6TD.
  7. 2019 Double Cab/Standard Bed LT 2WD starts at $35,745. So a 3.0TD would be around $39,600 with no 4WD and no options. $28,300 is W/T regular cab price tier.
  8. If any 'fad' is fading, it's sedans, not CUVs. Accord peaked in the USDM in 2001, moving 415K units. As recently as 2014 it was still 388K. 2019 is on pace to sell 260K.
  9. Those are just misshapen sedans, more obvious since they co-exist with sedans. A brand needs to do a true amalgamation of a sedan & CUV, the best attributes of each, and kill off the 'root vehicles' upon introduction; force the new metric. No one has tried that yet.
  10. Wasn't supposed to be. I believe all toll roads were set up (PATP started up, money-wise, in 1938) to repay construction loans, but of course; give a vampire a whiff of blood and it'll feed forever. Tolls now fund other transportation projects, the PATP has automatic annual toll increases, and they charge toll-by-mail drivers a 76% surcharge. 'Revenue stream' above all else.
  11. The car your talking about being glad about is a bland front drive 4-cylinder 'everyone else' appliance.
  12. ^ 4-dr sedan 4-cyl FWD bland generic appliance. toyoter competition.
  13. ^ '51. • mid '60s Stingray, yellow with 427 hood & badging, minty, parked at curb on small town Main St.
  14. Purpose: to compete with Kia on price…. but with a front wheel drive sedan.
  15. Unless you are calling a 2019 an ‘old model’ - thats whats on range rover usa’s website- tabbed wheelwell trim and all.
  16. Is this pic mislabeled? 'cause the entire 10 inches of the bottom of the vehicle is black plastic, PLUS the wheel wells. If anything, the TourX comes off as far far less of it :
  17. ^ Wait. Tesla certainly outsells all other EVs. Model 3 has moved 67K units thru June by itself. If it maintains pace, it;ll have moved 135K to Porsche's projected 30,000.
  18. ^ I don't disagree… tho they all could use more cargo space. Some have nothing, and the trend of no rear overhang and a great big schnoz looks like crap. They lack the visual balance sedans have more readily. Plus dump the acres of plastic cladding. That mazda is a freak show.
  19. Then thats going to suck for them as a profit-making company: going to have to shrink massively going forward.
  20. I think it makes long term sense to merge the two, as they’re largely the same. Remember when AWD in a sedan was a pipe dream? Current smaller CUVs don't even try to incorporate any ‘tough trucky’ aspirations in them.
  21. I’ve never driven a Corvette. ? Sat in a ‘62, ‘63 & ‘68, don't think any others. Must be doing something wrong. Circled a bunch of C7s when truck browsing, pretty much felt it’s an incredible design, kinda sad to see the FE vette going away. Guess there would be no case to build both side-by-side. ?
  22. ^ Hmmmm. Going to vote 'no' on the SUS- that's a mildly lifted sedan (might as well include the Eagle here). S60, Crosstour & ZDX seem to fit my bill, but still lean to the sedan side. Interesting…. but not there yet.
  23. X8 is a waste of developmental budget. BMW's growth is on their bottom end, not their top.
  24. We've had plentiful examples of 'normal looking' hybrid variants of 'regular' models, they don't sell. Looks didn't hold them back at all. Most of the EVs out, IMO, look fine (well; prius aside). They don't sell comparable to IC variants. Do you think that a -say- RAV4 is 'good (or normal) looking', and a -say- Bolt is not? Car manufacturers are in the business of (manufacturing &) selling. 'Company suicide' is determined, not by individual opinion; but the balance sheet (the reason for manufacturing & selling). Teslas are, as a whole, furiously expensive (and getting moreso WRT the raising of the S & X MSRPs). They sell semi-decently, but the company makes no money. Most of the recent & proposed full EVs are likewise furiously expensive, and they make no money. VW is between a rock & a hard place, and is doing high stakes gambling. If they think their customers are going to switch unilaterally to full EVs (and at what price levels??), I'd also like to know what data they're basing this on.
