  1. Ya : '55 Ghia Gilda Streamline https://jalopnik.com/5235553/ghia-gilda-streamline-x-coupe-coolest-chrysler-ever-made
  2. My dealer has 2 '19 Silverados in- guy told me they aren't advertising them because they want to move the '18s out. Walked around a white crew cab/short bed ($54K), I've been needing to see the front end in 3-D vs. the pics. I think it looks better in person, slightly, than in 2-D. Man; I really like 'em. Now I really want one. - - - - - In other related sighting news : my wife's '09 Malibu is on the way out the door / put a deposit on a '16 Malibu.
  3. Re-set the motor/trans in the car, then bolted a cylinder head on. Yep- it's gonna be a problem. Could not get the header close to lining up- hitting the steering box. With the header being an amorphous, twisty thing- in order to better judge where the interference was, I instead removed the steering box in order to bolt the header on. Wen I tried to slip the 'box back up against the frame rail, the bolt holes were about 2-in south of the holes in the frame- the 'box hit the headers in 2 places- those 12 o'clock curves in the foreground header. Only viable course of action is to cut the collector off about an inch into the pipes there, cut the pipes at the upper flange, somehow rig the collector about a foot farther under the car and re-flow all 4 pipes to the collector around the mounted steering box. A bunch of time, but no other way around it. Not going to completely revamp the steering system now. Had no issues fabbing the exhaust for the COE; same practice :
  4. Bunch of model 3's in central NJ- I've probably seen a dozen. Not nearly as sleek in person as in pics.
  5. As of 2016, 90% of global lithium production was done by just 3 countries. What if they decide to form a consortium ALA OPEC and set global prices? With so many countries going out on a limb and 'setting dates' for 100% EV production, future demand may be more defined than in any other industry/commodity. A governmental mandate can be a pretty weighty fulcrum. Some energy industry analysts have predicted demand to reach 925K tons by 2025, or 5 times the current global production. New facilities aren't coming online fast enough to meet near future demand. Time for investment opportunity research.
  6. Look at the chart above- projected lithium battery pack prices. The sales demand of a finished product that happens to have a L-I BP on board is tangential; my comment was on the projected interaction of lithium battery cost vs. demand. Wiki says battery use currently consumes more than 75% of lithium production as it is. Of course increasing production capability is one answer, but by & large a skyrocketing demand WITHOUT a pacing skyrocketing production capacity is NOT going to result in crashing battery pack prices. Commerce doesn't work that way. Unless there's already massive investment in production infrastructure I'm unaware of.
  7. "old car cheap that looked like this" - good luck with that!!
  8. Demand is going to skyrocket and price is going to crater???
  9. Buying brand new is by far the least efficient use of one's transportation dollar.
  10. It's 100 grand- no one is going to buy a $100 grand car, spend $25000 to convert it over and make it worth maybe $20K. Just get a clean Ford Transit Connect and EV that if a silent ride is Priority One.
  11. Clothing- a necessary evil.
  12. I would like to see a cost comparison (manufacturing) for comparable ICE and E powertrains.
  13. I just find it noteworthy : size-wise the e-tron slots below the Q5, but it's double the price (with far less mechanicals/engineering).
  14. My take-away to date is: all the OEMs coming out to "battle Tesla" are completely decimating Musk's stated goal of 'EVs for the masses' because the spearhead of long-range EVs to date is 75 grand and up. Ridiculous, but the only way OEMs can hedge against running an EV program deeply in the red. And as Tesla has shown with uninterrupted regularity; even that's not high enough. For all the 'less parts/ simplier mechanics' of an EV, they are hovering at double what the average car buyer is willing to spend. Sorry; a bit nicer materials and a few gee-whiz functions are not what the mainstream is willing to double their payments on.
  15. ^ With all that cladding- would make a fitting subaru truck.
  16. • In many areas, constructing an 'immovable object' at roadside can get you in legal troubles, tho how it's different than a boulder or a 24-in Oak; I don't know. • In my neck of the woods growing up, mailbox baseball was common for years. The only thing that kept my father from completely blowing his stack after his mailbox was crushed the 2nd time, was that the 'players' had tossed a decent mailbox on the lawn that night. In fact, I know that the mailbox at my house must've came from Dad- I think he banged out mailbox #2 & kept 'freebie #3' on the shelf, and that's what I have. Has a bit of a crinkle at the rear panel. 26 years and going strong- apparently no 'players' around me.
