  1. I couldn't tell you about the 318, my '73 Charger was a 440 car.
  2. Close: I lived in the neighborhood by Ewingville & Federal City Rds. Dad's next new car after the '77 was an '89 LeSabre, not sure where he bought that one from tho. I rode around the whole area- I knew all those dealerships, too. I was big into Cadillac, visited Colonial numerous times. Later on, as I got closer to car-ownership age and learned how expensive it was to restore a Cadillac in general, I ducked into the Pontiac camp, tho my family has long roots in Pontiacs, back to '55. Ewing has of course become much more of a bedroom community, dealerships in the last decade or 2 have been gravitating to major thoroughfares.
  3. We were neighbors! I grew up in Ewing and Dad's '70 & '77 Pontiacs came from Cathcart. BTW- I have the Intrique promo MIB the dealer gave to us when we bought one in '98.

There's a gas station at the end of my street. All day yesterday & today, cars creeping forward to get gas. Hand in hand with that is flared tempers & rampant stupidity, like the honda minivan that decided pulling 2 feet into the grass to execute a K-turn was a good idea. I offered the 2500HD, but the grandson came out with a Jeep and eventually (after stalling out about 3 times), yanked the porker back onto the street. Unless you need fuel for generators, I don't get this for cars. Wonder if some are only putting $10 in.

Back. Power went out here 7:30 yesterday eve, just back on in the last hour. Thank you PSE&G workers. Jersey indeed is a mess. Borrowed a generator from a buddy, but no gas. On a tip this afternoon, I drove 30 mins north, until I saw lights again, then waited 45 mins in (dual) lines to get to working pumps. Was what the '73 embargo musta been like. No damage here other than a few shingle tabs blew off. Minor branches, no shop damage, and with maybe between 2-3 inches of rain, no issues with the sump pump being off. However, plenty of damage in the area- saw 5 telephone pole snapped off in 2 batches. Lights on US Rt 1 still out by me. Going to try and make some money chainsawing the rest of this week. Well wishes to all in the path of this bitch.

I'm not concerned about flooding much here @ the Ranch. It's real flat by me with no bodies of water in the immediate area. Highest 3 recorded rainfalls from Irene were 11.2", 10.5", 10" in 3 different towns, but we had a heavy rain about 3 days before and the ground was already fairly soaked. This time, it's been a really dry month. Question, of course, is how much will fall. Last I saw for my area was 4-6", but looking at 'Weather in Motion' it looks like the bulk will fall west of me for the rest of today. Hoping like hell it veers off and/or loses power Monday. Wind is my bane here. I swear; after this storm, I am GOING to cut trees in my yard.
  7. Mmmmmmmm; such sweeeeeeeeet music! Now... how about cutting a coil & a half out of all four corners?

Good luck, B. We'll soak up some o the wind for you over here. I'm all battened down here; gutters cleaned, yard junk stowed, mowed the leaves up, put the downspout extensions on, raised junk in the basement off the floor, chainsaw prepped vehicles all fueled, provisions stowed. Waitin on my buddy to loan me a generator...
  9. For too many individuals, contrary to popular wisdom & convention; 18 years old is not really an adult. I generally am of the opinion that an individual is responsible for his own actions, and so it is the case with the son here. That said, you just don't DO what the father did.

  14. ^ According to Calvin's dad, the world didn't turn color until sometime in the 1950s, and it was pretty grainy color for a while, too.
  15. MmmmmmM... pizza! My favorite shop makes a KILLER chicken marsala pie- each slice is a complete meal. Which reminds me; I haven't been there in a few weeks......
  16. battle-scarred '63 Impy 4-dr hardtop, cruisin.
  17. me too. You can find small pockets of it if you hunt for it.
  18. I am thankful I'm not stuck in a menial, tedious job in an office. Did that for some years (at least it was creative), but I could never go back.
  19. The guy with the emblems on the upright wire frames I know from Englishtown, I know I have his card somewhere in my stack. I want to say his name is 'Stere'. The emblems in the cases I believe is another regular @ E-town, if so I bought an excellent Invicta emblem from him.
  20. This is certainly legitimate but has been the case for decades upon decades; it doesn't jive with the 'Timeline of Fatness'. In fact, a number of small towns in central Jersey have gone thru great lengths to make 'pedestrian welcomig' main streets & host community-based events that have more people walking around than when I was growing up. I also have noted that restaurant portions have shrunken a bit in the last few years. IMO, the bulk of the blame is inactivity. A huge portion of that is technology instilling the artificial need to be 'connected' and thusly, immobile. There's a radio spot that says 'In the park? Your tablet is where you watch The Office', and I can only think you should be walking or playing frisbee; isn't that why you left the house/TV?

^ I dont know that that's the case, and even the smart is longer than it is wide. Like I said, the cabs on the vintage COEs don't weigh anything of concequence, and even a shortened RC/SB chassis would work fine under a COE cab. I believe it would be easier to create stability issues RE center of gravity before footprint stability.
