  1. No markets are "requesting" that type of vehicle from mercedees, it's a pure volume grab, nothing more. An unchecked vanity- the same that approved the tagline "In a perfect world, there'd be a mercedes in every driveway". It's mercedees following Cadillac of 1981. And fuel in europe has been notoriously high for years & years; if M-B is just NOW getting around to answering the market, it's already "too late" as the wags say about anything Cadillac proposes. Mercedees, has one of the lowest MPG portfolios out there, last time I looked I believe it was something like 16 models rated 15 or below in the city. Why would anyone turn to M-B looking for good mileage??
  2. OK, OK, I can hear the question you all are asking from here. Apparently, 156 MPH (vs. the class record of 141) with a Buick inline 8.

I see the gibberish, link works fine. Video is a fail- they can zoom in on the odometer, but not the engine call-out on the air cleaner?

A '72 Malibu is a full step down from a '64 Bonneville in anyone's book.
  5. Why not; mercedees is bringing out FWD cars in the $30K price range merely to "sell more".
  6. I got a '56 Bel Air hardtop available you could shoehorn it into....

Don't like any of it, none of it is moving the design forward. Some poor surface transitioning, some just blandness (front lower fascia). Chevrolet will output something far more slick & aspirational. Nice bit of animation, tho.
  8. Buy it and ease your jealousy!
  9. mercedees just closed down their flagship for sales failure, instead of investing in it & fixing what was wretchedly wrong, they're bringing out FWD models. They need to focus on their core models and stop trying to be toyota.
  10. Do you kno if it has a plow prep package on it?
  11. Saw my buddy's circa '77 CitiCar today- he's got it licensed & insured after some work (needs more tho). Reports it has about a 25 mile range and a top speed of about 48. 'Spartan' doesn't begin to describe it, but it sure grabs attention: overall length is 4" shorter than a smart car. The entertainment value is about doubled to see him climb out of it; he's 6'8".
  12. I would answer a flat 'no' at the miles..... but the price would make me think otherwise. Worth a look. Now, if it was a DuraMax..... of course it'd be no where NEAR $2800.
  13. To my knowledge (I do make frequent rounds in this arena)- I do not believe evidence of progress on the Norseman is out there. I say 'evidence' because it's been at least a year since I've seen the pic I posted above. I'll poke around later tonight & see...
  14. Marty Martino's garage. Note the Nomad model in the foreground. He's the guy who built the Pontiac Club deMer replica, and also restored the LaSalle II roadster.
  15. If that looks 'clean' to you, I'm going WAY overboard.
  16. I have zero issues killing mice. We had an in-house cat for 15 years, gone about 5 now. He would go out once a month in the sprint/summer, never wandered far.He did catch a vole now & then. We have an outside cat that shows up for breakfast & dinner, often eating inside apparently for the reason (so my wife says) 'he's old'. He's too disinterested/fat to catch anything. Once I saw him toss a sweet gum ball up in the air in the driveway, then it fell and he wandered off. We believe he's about 13 yrs old and has been hanging around maybe 8 yrs. We're now about 2 weeks into having a 6-8 wk old kitten in the house, but I'd much prefer he live somewhere else. I am actively looking for a home, but nothing so far. The other 3 here believe he's staying FFOORREVVEERRRRRR.
  17. BTW - a replica is in progress...
  18. I happen to currently have a DeSoto 330 hemi motor in my possession, along with a 341.
  19. Is the Chevy 350 a 355? Regardless, like I stated above you, Pontiac definitely was a 355, but was NEVER advertised/badged as such. Marketing nonsense.
  20. Found this post on a forum discussing underwater autos : >>"I did a little digging and it seems as though the structure of the Andrea Doria collapsed. Apparently a diver did make it to the car but it wasn't identifiable as the Norseman by visual i.d. but by where it was located. Crazy stuff on Youtube about divers going to the site."<< Another forum, 2009 post : >>"Old Cars Weekly had a feature on this very topic a few months back. They chronicled the efforts of a diver who had visited the Norseman thru a series of dives. Last report had the car nearly unrecognizable with only scraps still visible as the ships bulkheads continue to deteriorate. Seems as if time and the sea is winning that battle."<<
  21. That's a pretty fascinating question, Horsey. I will research this tonight & see if I can find anything on the Norseman. Meanwhile, here's a composite pic from inside the Titanic:
  22. 300, 301, 302, 303, 304, 305 and 425, 426, 427, 428, 429, 430 are correct & what I was thinking of. The other I guess I should give 'honorable mention' to, or add an asterisk. Pontiac (not sure if Chevy applies here) never advertised their 350 as a 355, even tho in Pontiac's case, it was. 350, 351, 352, 353, 354, 355. I had actually forgotten about the Cadillac 353. Well done, men.
  23. Within the arena of American V8s, there was a seeming 'sweet spot', where (6) displacements of consecutive cubic inches gathered. IE; 50 CI, 51 CI, 52 CI, 53 CI, etc. Six V8s 'in a row', can you name these 6? EDIT: this happened TWICE, so name either or both groupings.
  24. It was; '56 DeSoto.
