  1. "beyond patheticly sloppy & irresponsible" = Big Gov't, to a T.
  2. I'm with ocn- get the mechanicals up to snuff & roll. The $3500 current bid is a very solid market price, I don't see it bidding beyond $4500.

  4. both my sons absolutely hate the mini cooper, and the one who's seen a pic of the fiat hates it, too. Called it 'ugly' right off. No; they got no influence from me, either.
  5. Top speed of a 7.0L Fleetwood was around 125 MPH, and this was engine/gearing limited, not chassis.
  6. Growing up the son of a gearhead, my son has not expressed much unsolicited reaction to cars, except the Mustang, Challenger & CTS-V coupe.
  7. #3 is Alco. Alco built road vehicles '05-13. One of their last cars , the '12 Berliner, sold for $7250 new. So... Who is #2??
  8. few things in automotive history are as recent as one would think
  9. And how many times have you bragged on the massive v12 put in a handful of MBs??
  10. I, for one, am not at all against electric cars. More choice is (usually) always better (I'd like to see steam, too). My statement wasn't against the cars (which was perfectly clear in my post), but against taxpayer money going into poorly vetted business cases.
  11. BigGov't sure can't seem to call many of these 'green energy' investments right.
  12. A dated, blatant 'rebadge' (most people's definition) is never going to make money at these levels. Meanwhile, Rolls strikes a unique and long shadow...
  13. I don't even kno which ferrari that is, but that's a circa 1995?? I kno ferrari doesn't advance their designs much, but... Still, sub a 599 in there- same approach, same critiques from me. The countach/diablo design was ancient in terms of years; it debuted in 1970.
  14. Ferrari here is -in comparison- quite dated & pedestrian. Greenhouse & body are separate, ferrari falls prey to one of the cardinal sins of timeless design; using panel seams as styling elements. Front bumper has a prominent, unavoidable horizontal seam, lambo's is completely integrated/ doesn't have a 'bumper'. Ferrari has -gasp!- rocker cladding. These two are in completely different arenas...
  15. Some of the ferraris are well done, but by no means are they unilaterally 'beautiful'. The 3rd one pictured above, the race car, is -by design standards- a bulbous monstrosity. The earlier cars are nice, but unremarkable. They're purpose-built as streetable performance cars, not artistic creations. The current designs (599, etc) are probably the cleanest & 'hottest', but the bulk of their visual impact, IMO is proportional, not the actual design. IE; they're extremely low & slippery, but the actual details are not very unique. Picture the 3rd-from-bottom car molded into the proportions of a -say- mazda 3 and..., yea.
  16. I'm as fiscally tight as it gets, but I made a decision not to obsess over fuel costs. I don't like paying over $4 (or over $2.50 for that matter) for fuel (diesel has been around $3.70 for a while), but it's not a matter of not being able to afford it for me, so obviously that makes it easier. Back to my point; I just decided not to make fuel cost something that bothers me, and I did this for mental freedom's sake, and I have never regretted it. Sure it adds up, but in that my lifestyle/ employment does not allow for ANY other alternative, it's going to be burned either way. I understand Swordfish's position WRT costs, tho.
  17. I dislike the Terrain, plain & simple. I do like this revamp- butched up, tightens up the GMC DNA, yet avoids what I feel are 'unpleasantries' on the Terrain. Previous Acadia is nice, but it was a bit too rounded & dissimilar to other GMCs, IMO.
  18. Clean car, but these (and here I mean all pictured here) still make me shudder. No vote.
