  1. Of course you favor it- it's not domestic; therefore it's +1, bold and futuristic... never awkward, ill-concieved or just plain stylistically ignorant. Almost forgot- never 'generic', either. Unfortunately, this is yet another entry in the burgeoning cesspool of insect-inspired, asian oddball school of design, along with other 'bold, futuristic' ugliness like the cube & juke. I'll peal the bell again here. With CAFE dictating nearly every design parameter.... in order to cater to the Pavlovian expectation of !NEW! hardwired by marketing into the subconsciousness of most every individual, the industry as a whole is forced to do SOMETHING as a gesture that 'things are moving forward', resulting in increasing examples of the awkward, the mis-proportioned, the ungainly and the non-aspirational. I have no doubt that cues from those 'frozen explosion' minivans so popular in Japan are on they're way here all too soon.

And there you have it.... a recent, highly-dubious trend has finally reached it's apparent climax : car headlights have been slowly sliming their way up the fenders like luminescent slugs, until FINALLY (YAY "progress"!!) they've broken into the windshield 'perimeter'. Absolutely stunning design work!

  7. Agreed WRT the EBTC- the roof treatment is NO substitute for a full brushed stainless top.
  8. I would HOPE there's a way to deactivate "Press Brake pedal and Push Button to Start" - I don't need to read that every frickin time I insert a key... I, too would prefer no spoiler. Dash bezel has a carbon-fiber-esque pattern to it- might look pretty snazzy even if 'merely' plastic. Charger looks great so far...

  10. While possible; this car is tiny- would be FAR quicker/easier to start from scratch on the frame.
  11. I LOVE P-64s; I should; I've owned 3 so far. And the GP is the most expressive of Pontiac's DNA when they were at the top of their game. This car, IMO, is completely worth the asking price. I would prefer Starlight Black and the big engine, but that aside I wouldn't change a thing.   12. Bortz is already on to the LaSalle II siblings (see thread in Cadillac forum). I'm so used to seeing pics of him from the '90s- he's looking quite a bit older now. B-J is a great choice- look at what the F-88 & the Bonneville Special did there ! Price is suprisingly low on the CdM, even with the economy. I have no idea of his investment into it... but I still think the main reason it was so relatively low is that this wasn't the original. Nomad vette has been seen in Warhoops at one point ('70s)... pretty sure I read the hardtop Motorama Corvette has been recovered recently. I saw pics on the net of it upside down in a storage warehouse. I for one would be FAR more interested in the Corvette Corvair than the Corvette Nomad- which has been re-created more than once at this point.
  13. I LOVE the Cadillac Database- a fantastic, likely unmatched site. I surf thru there a bunch, and the Eldorados are a frequent lingering point. Ironically, there's a pic on there of a partial shot, and the caption asks if it's an Eldorado Brougham convertible. It isn't, but GM DID have an XP- program studying such a car. At this point I don't know if it was intended to be a 4-dr convert, but it's interesting all the same.
  14. Yes- $100K plus fees. Interesting that the 3/8th car sold so close to the full-size one, but the 3/8th was an original 1956 GM piece, and at that time the F/S one wasn't done... AND the F/S one isn't the real thing. I had read that Martino always intended to sell it, so not sure that cost involved was an unintended motivator. GM's archives WRT the concept cars and the documentation they were scrapped has been documented to be unreliable. Too many that are 'officially destroyed' have survived, including multiple copies of concepts that 'officially' didn't exist. For many others, there is NO documentation as to what happened. Some have been documented to exist years & years after their service use was over, and they too slipped thru the cracks since. This repeatedly lends hope to those who dream of finding one (like me). The '54 Cutlass & '56 Golden Rocket have been rumored to be in Jersey, too.

  16. ^ I missed the fact that this is in Canada, and that's a good point, Fapster. However, at this point in time Cadillacs were built in 1 factory only (Detroit) and the sole export model listed was still a Series 62 4-dr hardtop. Cadillac just wouldn't rename what was a Series 62 in the U.S. as a Fleetwood in Canada; not their SOP- I would require hard proof to the contrary to believe otherwise. And after 50 years, this certainly could be a U.S.-spec Sereies 62 C-58 that made it's way across the border. So you are probably correct in that the seller used the name as an advertising draw.
  17. I LOVE '58s, passing a '58 Series 75 going to HS on the bus was one of the first vintage cars to suck me into the car hobby. But I find it strange the seller is calling it a Fleetwood; the Series 60 Specials had EXTENSIVE ornate trim : This isn't 'even' a Sedan de Ville, it's a Series 62 ('entry-level' Cad). Still a real nice car- just know what you're buying (and I hope you see clear to!).

  21. 'stang- I believe photographic has reflected some light into the grille cavities on the '62 GP, highlighting them in a different way than normally viewed. Kinda misleads on the contours a bit. Still such a beautiful car... Agreed on the early GM compacts- some of them are quite appealing... even tho obviously 'de-engineered' from the full-size lines.
  22. Clam shell gate was some kick-ass engineering- I've heard they were very reliable. Friend's folks had a '76 Buick Estate wagon, while we had a '77 Safari. In truth, then I thought the '76 was rather bloated vs. the trim '77, but later this so-called 'measure of space efficiency' was revealed as meaningless as it is. Huge difference underhood tho- '76 455, still a TRQ monster, vs. a 135 HP Pontiac 301 2bbl.
