  1. Vinyl tops on Town Cars certainly were commonplace in the 1980s. At the rate I seem to have seen them wearing them, it would be very cost-inneffective to have them all farmed out, esp when Lincoln previously already did them in-house. Here's a page from the '87 brochure : http://www.oldcarbrochures.com/main.php?g2_itemId=72024 Text states that 'even the 'base' Lincoln Town Car gets a full vinyl roof'. Body was redesigned for '98- from random Googling '01, '00, '99, '98 & '97 images, I can believe that redesign was the change-over point for Lincoln WRT factory vs. aftermarket vinyl roofs. As soon as they get 'carriage-roofy', they're aftermarket.
  2. This discussion only reminds me of eBay- when they removed the negative feedback capability. That only REDUCED the self-regulation, but this isn't a transaction-based site. I waste enought time here already so even with smk's garbage, I don't foresee myself partaking.
  3. Last: Town car (still??) ? Last GM: Cadillac Brougham ?
  4. Only if "proper condition" means a PMD 400 underhood.
  5. Never owned snow tires, only ever drove RWD, only problem I ever had was with a '78 Plymouth, but that was a bad, twitchy SOB to drive even in rain. 14 years in a RWD pick-up & I never (maybe once) purposely put weight in the back. I will say this tho; I get snow & ice here, but it's quite flat in central NJ- and that's a big part of the big picture.
  6. "Fuel for the soul" was a great tagline, too.
  7. >>"The standout from GM was the 9-5. It's a very attractive design that manages to look exotic and unique without being flashy and vulgar. Pictures don't do it justice. "<< >>"CTS Coupe has the same in-your-face look as the sedan, though to my eyes, it's getting a bit tired."<< I've probably made it more than clear that saab has zero appeal to me on any front (product or business-wise). That said, I just watched the '2010 saab 9-5' vid that C-Spec posted in that respective thread. Isn't the '10 9-5 wearing virtually the same nose as the -was it the AeroX version from how many years ago ?? At least it finally lost the awkward pseudo-Kammback look it had since the '70s, but the design language is still the same overall saab-generica they've been pedaling since time out of mind. I mean, once glance and you know it's a saab, right ?? So my question is, how can a truely fresh design that debuted for MY'08 (the CTS) already look "tired" when the saab wears the same mask it has for longer than that, yet is "unique" ? Just don't see it.
  8. >>"On a side note, $h! man your posts are a bitch to multiqoute."<< :smilewide: 10-4 on the gold: missed the sarcasm/ didn't read that way to me. -- -- -- -- -- My bank is a nice, conservative little Hungarian entity, they have maybe 5 or 6 branches. Have never been sold/merged. I don't worry about them. Bond is right- you cannot take yourself off the grid- but minimization is a good idea, IMO. Not as easy to do as it is to say, tho. But I'll bet you one will find cash transactions more & more common esp thru the next few years...
  9. >>"Maybe you should invest on gold bars. :rotflmao: "<< Have you seen the price of gold over the last few years ?? $1200/oz currently & still climbing. Good advice (it's still below it's inflation-adjusted peak circa 1980). -- -- -- -- -- >>"Debit card > cash because I hate getting change back only for it to get lost in the car or the house somewhere."<< It's called.... a pocket. Where do you put the debit card ?? -- -- -- -- -- I would love to live completely 'off the books'- including avoiding banks. Any interest you get today is a joke, and frankly I have more faith in the security of my safe than FDIC. However, in these times I am putting income as #1. If a biz credit card can earn me $500 in cash-back for doing nothing different than I do right now, I'm there. Whatever pay I can get as cash, all the better. Everything's for sale, I can do that for you, cash only, go.
  10. Already there. Love to be paid in cash ( I just like the crinkly sound of it  ), prefer imminently to buy with cash.... but I just signed up for one of those cash-back business credit cards. From rough calculations, I should be able to make around $550/yr back. Don't do ATM or debit.
  11. "Chicken, ha-ha, good!"
  12. >>"I've never ignored anyone, and I won't now."<< +2.
  13. >>"NO PHOTOGRAPHS PLEASE! "<< How about artwork?
  14. Waitaminnit.... you guys don't regularly buy into paid advertising as being completely factual all the time, do you? I never got into Tiger pitching for Buick; and frankly I wouldn't care if he drove a rubber-band powered car and pitched Buick. GM spent a ridiculous f**kload of money on Tiger- I could MAYBE see $10M/10 yrs, but $70 Million ???? That's 2nd string leading actor level, and they work like 3-4 months/yr to make a movie that makes $100M or more in return. If Tiger worked 2 whole weeks doing ads for GM, that seems like a lot. And the demonstratable return on Tiger's (few days work) ads was how much ??
  15. Car carrier, full load of 8, mismatched brands, one worthy spot: black '66 Mustang fastback with lower body stripe, no glass but solid, possible Shelby 350-H ?? '56 Chevy sedan delivery, solid but mutli-colored, parked @ service station for a few weeks now.
  16. I've noticed exactly (1) 1-series on the road (but then again, I have multiple BMW visual filters in place when out driving); just like the other cars just a smidge smaller, but it looked decent for a BMW. But a mere 500 sold in 1 month is pathetic- what happened; all those who 'had to be the first on the block' exhausted already ??
  17. Cool - thanks !! That answers my next question as to why the 1-series, 6-series, Z4, X3 and X6 are still in production over @ BMW !
  18. ^ Jessica Biel is in "your day-to-day life" ?? I didn't think worship shrines counted. If so, then Pam Anderson circa 1999 is my new choice.
  19. >>"BRING PLENTY!"<< That's for ancient, petrified me, I assume. With the right stimulous, parts of me get pretty non-wrinkled.
  20. I'd like to see a 15 & a 20 together in the shower...
  21. Oh come on! - 9 is too young. What I need to know is, where does 15 fit in?
  22. Why is the SC still in production ??
  23. This is interesting, stang.... mind wander much? Can't think of anyone in semi-daily life right now.... wait... what's the cut-off age for this, anyway?
  24. lexus has been showing declining sales month over month for like 24 months running, no? And mitsu should already be long gone what with the reprehensible multiple corporate cover-ups (that were in the news spotlight all of 12 seconds)... but somehow both wretched brands are still here. But WRT saab- how many more months / years should it take to determine it's a lost cause ?
