  1. Both the Carerra & 430 have been released in two colors so far. The Ferrari comes in both Red and Black. The Porsche in Silver & Yellow.
  2. As a former owner of a first gen W-car (2 in fact), I must have been the minority, since I bought two coupes, and have only had sedans for my last three cars because Olds & Pontiac stopped selling W coupes. I think the first gen sedans were not good looking at all. The Lumina may have been the least offensive. I also think this would have sold well, given the opoprtunity.
  3. OK, I do. I have been listening to rap since the 80s. It has been cyclical as far as quality goes. I like a lot of the old school stuff, and some new stuff. Mostly since the 90s though artists rarely interest me more than one song or CD. There are exceptions to that. I just picked up the new Ice Cube CD and like it very much. Laugh Now Cry Later cracks me up. I only wish that most of the people listening to it would realize the fact that Cube is making fun of the lifestyle he is rapping about, not endorsing it.

Like most of the ones I didnt include, Yokohama is their own company. This list also leaves out all of the tiny brand names that are actually made by larger companies. Those are much harder to keep track of.

I've never been a big fan of Goodyear. I have had cars with Goodyear, Michelin, BFG, and now Bridgestone Potenzas on the GXP. A lot of it depends on how much you spend. I think Goodyears are overpriced for what you get. Disclaimer: I at one time worked for a tire company, so maybe I am a bit biased (no pun intended).
  7. This French '54 Citroen Traction Avant, powered by a 15-hp six, was a taxicab in Paris when it was purchased by General Motors. GM engineers took it apart to help in their design of the Oldsmobile Toronado, GM's first front-drive car. GM Vice President Bud Goodman drove the car for a while, then sold it in 1970-71 to Gilliam Clark, Matthew Clark's father. Note the front suicide doors.
  8. When I had my Cutlass, I always wanted to swap the high beams and turn signals, so it would be like a '67 or '68.
  9. Unforunately, here in the Detroit area, there are cars on their roof on I696 what seems like every other day. Maybe thats an exaggeration, but in a metropolis this size, there are several accidents daily, and usually one severe. Last night an 80s Caprice with 24s or so got hit by a fire truck of all things. They had to vut the guy out, but he was at the hospital. I would post a link but strangely I couldnt find one, and at this time of the morning, I'm not looking too hard. Thus the need for the traffic report here. For your amusment listen to XM 216 once in a while.
  10. And this is ony the first part (admittedly the larger one though). I was reading that Delphi union employees who are non-UAW didnt get their offers when the UAW did, so I would guess have a longer deadline? Also, does anyone know if the offer was made to the one (that I know of) non-UAW GM assembly plant?
  11. Um, here its $120 for 5 over. Luckily I dont have a ticket to post for my worst offence (at least where I was caught). That one would have been 73 in a 25 zone in a car with no insurance. Just got a warning on that one, for a couple reasons. That was in 1990 or so.
  12. That Handjob Heineken dude takes good pictures.
  13. I just saw an EV1 on the road last summer. I guess I didnt know people were still driving them.

Quick photoshop to add a little more body color. This seems a little better to my eyes. http://hometown.aol.com/motorcityoldsguy/redz71.jpg
  16. Wouldn't take it as an argument. Since the car I snapped the photo of appears to be a one of a kind, I would guess the badge might be as well. But, it is always possible that it got reused. Getting all this info out there is one way to collect it and document.
  17. 1963 Corvair Super Spyder Roadster
  18. Sorry if this was posted elsewhere and I missed it. _____________________________ WALKING THE LINE: Cadillac salesmen picket at Massey dealer after firings They joined Teamsters after commissions cut June 1, 2006 BY MICHAEL ELLIS FREE PRESS BUSINESS WRITER Richard DeTata, left, Gary Hachigian, Matthew Sebastian and Bob Adas picket at Don Massey Cadillac in Plymouth on Wednesday. The four were fired days after salespeople voted to join the Teamsters union. Dealership group Sonic Automotive owns the chain. After 27 years of selling cars at Don Massey Cadillac, Bob Adas stood outside the dealership in Plymouth with a picket sign in his hands on Wednesday after he and three other salesmen were fired days after joining the Teamsters union. The four car salesmen had never been members of any union in their lives. But all said that after dealership group Sonic Automotive Inc., which owns the top-selling chain of Don Massey dealerships, cut sales commissions by about 50% in March, they talked about joining the Teamsters. Don Massey, a fixture among metro Cadillac dealers since 1967 and whose voice is familiar to radio listeners, sold his empire of dealerships to Sonic four years ago. "Mr. Massey always paid us good, treated us fair. Sonic Automotive, all they care about is making as much money as they can," Adas said on the sidewalk by the dealership, at the junction of I-275 and Ann Arbor Road. "Really, what I think they're trying to do is get rid of the older guys and get younger guys in who will work for less money." Salespeople voted 10-5 on May 17 in favor of joining Teamsters Local 283 in Wyandotte. On May 25, the four salesmen -- Adas, Gary Hachigian, Matthew Sebastian and Richard DeTata -- said management fired them, purportedly for poor sales results. "Other people that didn't get fired had less sales than we did," said Hachigian, 52, of West Bloomfield, who has sold Cadillacs for 17 years. Sonic Automotive said in a written statement to the Free Press that it does not discuss personnel matters. But the "personnel actions at issue were taken for legitimate business reasons and these personnel decisions are completely unrelated to the outcome of the May 17 union representation election," Sonic wrote. The Teamsters union filed an appeal to the National Labor Relations Board in an attempt to get the four salesmen their jobs back, charging that Sonic engaged in unfair labor practices. Sonic said in the statement that it will vigorously defend any claim that its actions were unlawful. Adas and Hachigian said they'll continue to picket outside Don Massey, and they have no intention of seeking work elsewhere. "Somebody's got to make a stand," Hachigian said. Other salespeople at the dealership were at their desks inside the dealership, but there were few customers around on the sunny Wednesday afternoon. One man who declined to give his name said the picketers didn't stop him from picking up a new Cadillac STS sedan that he ordered. A security guard with a video camera in hand kept an eye out for the picketers. Officials from the Teamsters union patrolled outside the dealership to keep car transport drivers, who are also members of the union, from dropping off new Cadillacs. "The Escalades are hot right now, but those orders aren't going to get filled," said DeTata, 64, who worked 16 years at Don Massey. The Teamsters have other plans to pressure Sonic. Some of the salespeople sell cars directly to autoworkers at GM plants in Toledo, said Todd Lince, an organizer for the Teamsters Local 283. "We'll put a stop to that tomorrow," he said. About 25 UAW members turned up in support of the Teamsters and also picketed outside the dealership, Lince said. Don Massey, himself, could not be reached for comment. However, DeTata stepped off the picket line for a few minutes to speak to a young man behind the wheel of a Cadillac Escalade, who he said was Massey's grandson. The young man declined to comment. DeTata said he hopes that Don Massey customers, the majority of whom are GM employees including many union members, will stay away, putting financial pressure on Sonic. As he spoke, drivers whizzing by the dealership honked their horns in support of the picketers. "People are driving by giving us the thumbs up," Hachigian said. "I haven't seen anything but a thumb."
  19. Delphi has sold parts to Ferrari for some time now. HVAC units, wiring, etc.
  20. Maybe that one has a similar logo (don't know), but this pic is from a 1963 model.
  21. Yes. But this is a very specific vehicle. Do you know what that is?
