kappa couldve probably been made more flexible, sure...but it would have cost a little bit extra and probably taken more time to do so. the fact is it took more than 2 years from the original solstice concept and the auto journalists wondered if that would be too much time in between and lose steam by the time it debuted. it didnt. i would imagine full size architecture takes longer to develop and hone to competetive levels. thats what is being worked on now. the way business is being done is changing drastically. more cars, more competitors, less time between tweaks and freshening. i believe the general is updating its portfolio in order to be on that same plane. these cars, to me anyway, seem like a tasty morsel to tide some people over while winning over others who may not think the talent in gm could produce cars like this. the bottom line is they need to be more proactive instead of reactive. i think once all the old stuff cycles through the newer cars and trucks will be just that.

Did GM offer money to the media for a good word?
Mr.Krinkle replied to Ravenfreak13's topic in General Motors
this can be seen both ways. a simple "honest misundderstanding" isnt going to take back what he said. and if it was as he later said a misunderstanding that alone qualifies as libel and should be dealt with as such. you cant unring that bell -
arent there still a half dozen other projects underway? also, this is supposed to be the year with the largest number of releases, 21 if i remember correctly. is this buying any time or just more thumb twiddling?

as long as china and india have a greater demand for oil than we do, which is hard to believe, the prices are never going to come back down. they have the demand and are willing to pay top dollar. as usual the highest bidder wins (unless you want a govt contract)...but we still want gas, so now we have to increase our bids. thats just one more factor to add to the mess. i say this as the price for regular, self serve-they trust us here in ny to pump our own gas- is over 3.05. i used to like that number when it was the 5.0 in my chevy. about the tax thing- across the tiny little waterways that separtate ny from nj gas is min 20 cents cheaper-with full serve too. no self in jersey. the great part is its the same gas, being transported throught he same exact lines. it is what it is i guess

i dont think this is a solution. its a pontiac, not a chevy so it has that going for it... not to compare apples to oranges, the trans am and the camaro were virtually the same too. i say virtually to me anyway, it seems the same way. just much more less so. who knows, a lot of people just dislike the chevy brand...well see what the sales say i guess.

first off id check the power steering. thats first. hard to tell from what you say, and im no mechanic, but id get the wheel bearings and the bump stops inspected. ball joints, too but these things are all usually noticable while moving, not idle. thats why i suspect powr streering first...id find out from someone you trust if any previous work or welding was done. you can easily tell if thats the case. if you dont feel like doing that first try the lucas power steering stuff. i never believed that crap could work but i tried it in the tranns and it was fantastic. not only me, either. i used the tranns stuff in a couple of cars and i would try it again if necessary. the steering fluid ive used twice, two different cars and no complaints. anything i wouldnt even try. from what you are describing though it sounds more mechanical and id check the actual assembly. hope that helps, good luck.

Penske going to GM? Thats the word at the track
Mr.Krinkle replied to hyperv6's topic in General Motors
penske races dodges in nascar....so if this is accuarate, perhaps its the dodges that are bowing out of nascar. just a thought. -
more arrogance and greed. i just wonder if this sort of pr will help the tundra or not. esp since waltrips almost legendary in the sport. and seems to have cheesed off many with this deal. and toyota...tsk tsk. arrogance run amok. they must think its so easy to just have americans rolling over like 3 dollar whores. just because dw did doesnt mean the rest of the silverado and f-150 buying public will too. i see more harm in this one than good in this one.

absof@#kinlutely. the entire public relations card has to be met and challenged somehow. create a buzz with a sensational world beating camry buster then show all the neat cool little cars you can produce. or throw the carbuying public into a chatter with gorgeous eyepopping designs? affordable and sporty mo less. get a buzz going then show em what else you got. my moneys on the latter. face it, no ones been paying attention to gm for what they have, just for what they dont have. now they have something ...but its flawed... in some contrived way. baby step back to greatness. or maybe some could just snap their fingers and have it done by now...or just bitch until theyrre blue in the face. its progress, however small or perhaps calculated its getting recognition. baby steps--then hit em upside the f*@%in head. wont see it coming and godwilling wont even know what hit them either.

thank you...thats what i was looking for. i thought it was a valid question being as you dont hear much about it. yes, airbags can burn regardless, and seatbelts leave gawdawful marks and bruises. lasik and contacts dont solve sunglasses though. and of course either is better than the alternative, still its first responders that know better than anyone when it comes to somethings like this. i know you guys and girls out there get to see it all. thankfully there are people like you to do this work.

well, if you gouge your eyes out, because your glasses broke and went blind or bled to death, that might make you less safe. same with swallowing a cigarette. they always said smoking will kill you...but like that? seriously though. does any one know about this?
-
airbags are a tremendous advancement in car safety, no doubt about it--unless your under 12 and not blah blah my question...if you wear glasses or smoke what happens then? i know, im sure yourre better off not going through the windshield but has anybody ever heard of or know what the consequences of either of those things would be? im not really sure if this is tech, per se...so feel free to move it, but id really like to know. thanks

Solstice Drives Down Average Age of Pontiac Buyers

im not trying to be argumentative...but what was false. or more so how do you know its false? do you just not agree with it? because they did provide numbers and they were good numbers. the stuff that everyone who claims to have gms best interest at heart would like to hear. everything else under the sun was brought up here but the facts that the article contained. which was indeed good news. honestly...things start to look up so it seems to me anyway any thing to bring us back to your reality is thrown into the fire. again, this isnt meant to be argumentative... i just fins it strange the more i think about this. younger shoppers are gravitating towards pontiac while older shoppers are looking at toyota. it seems pretty cut and dry. and good news, too as a younger buyer what product from toyota screams out to the younger folk looking to buy a car? any insight would be helpful to me here. and dont say "scion" because they needed that division solely for that purpose. strictly toyota, now. perhaps they will get too big for themselves too one day. maybe they already have and dont even know it. -
its in revelations people

maximas used to be all over the place roound these here parts--not so much anymore. ever since someone pointed out it looked like a piggy bank with the moon roof after the restyle i couldnt help but find them even more horrendous to look at. quick and zippy sure but thats about it. altimas are in abundance. again though, not so much. i see more accords and tls than anything else lately.

they say oil needs to top 100 a barrel before it gets really nuts. they also say if we reduce consumption by 3% wed have them by the balls. (for a change) the market sets the prices. they stick to those guns unflinching. the only solution is to have many more options than 2 or 3. oil companies dont want that becuase the prices will drop off again. like it or not theyrre holding the cards and were just watching from the side. no one has the balls to really change things. for whatever reason.

Additionally, can you say with a straight face that the 350z,RX8, Miata, IS,G, S2000, Si, GS, FJ, Tacoma, et al...have NO appeal??? i never said these cars dont have appeal, obviously they do...just not to me. i never liked the z's. i think of them at the time of the grand national. they kindve share a similar legacy. aside from that, i just dont care for the styling. rx-8 is too gimmicky, no torque, and just odd looking to me. miata- not exactly. solstice/sky but being 6'1 i doubt my ass is fitting in any of them. s2000 see above--besides most reviews say it sucks until its over 6 grand on the tach. not ideal for everyday. tacoma? fj? no. the subarus are kinda cool, but again not really my style. have no interest at all in lexus. nothing. like i said earlier, whatever floats your boat. -
the old brooklyn union or keyspan whatever the hell they call themselves...the gas company over here had their fleet cars run on natural gas. it just never became widespread...kinda fishy in a way. all these alternatives have decent prospects although biodiesel supposedly isnt any cheaper than the highest ga prices weve seen. the saddest part is places like china or "third world" nations will probably never see these advances. as it is they burn coal and contribute to more of the worlds pollution than the US ever will. the point, they will wind up using the rest of the oil even if we can wean ourselves.

how much power are they going to squeeze out of these tiny little engines? hows the longetivity on these things. honestly, how long before they just give up or start to get crappy?
-
wagoner sounds much more confident than ford over there. i wish them both the best. something about wagoner in these interviews. i get a real picture of whats going on. the way they want to tie up the loose ends and do it the right way. almost as if the sleeping giant is being waken up finally. lazy bastards. or he could just be bullsh*#ing. i think they have a very clear idea of whats at stake and no one wants to leave room for error right now. 5 or 6 years he says. thats it. these really are just the opening moves.

some good news and we cant even enjoy it for a moments peace. Silverado - I bought one (my third new one by the way) GTO - I bought one of these too. GMT800/900 - Would be my "go to" choice in SUVs hands down. Corvette - class leading, most bang-for- the- buck sportscar on the planet. Kappa - undeniable design and sales success nothing can even come close to competing with these. but wait long enough. someone will chime in. -

the solstice is sold out--good news then you say "oh wilmington used to make 200k cars a year" whats your point? is the solstice not sold out. does that cease to make it a hit?--and no one was bragging. its a fact jack. you cant dispute that so you pick something else to nag about. were all anonymous "posters" for the most part. i hold everyone equal and in the same regard. "You were just accusing competitors of using untoward practices- I linked to an article accusing GM of the same...am I to assume that you were actually complimenting their superior skills with your original point? Seems an odd way to do it--or, more likely, an untenable position made more so by facts?" it was a compliment of sorts. more of a criticism of gms practices. and let me be clear--it wasnt accusatory. it was hypothetical. big BIG difference. Sorry if you find me condescending---just make it harder to prove you incorrect, and I promise I'll stop. ok, like i need your divine wisdom to know if im right or wrong. frankly, just because you think yourre right...doesnt make it so. newsflash, as you like to say. you gonna by some gum next and show me how to chew it? "You've picked at me a few times and than scurried for cover under the standard GM-hater taunts...It's just not true----I'll agree to a truce, but if you give it, you've got to be able to take it...." i dont remember picking on you and i certainly dont recall using the gm hater b.s. i have no problems with you or your points but the way you see some as enablers of gm or clouded by passion i can also wonder the same-how long can someone stay on the soapbox and constantly complain? (not necessarily you, so dont take it personally). import/domestic ford/chevy. hey whatever floats your boat. has nothing ever broke down on you ever? granted a car is rather pricey but even so. my sony radio broke. i got a new one. a panasonic home entertainment broke...should i buy another panasonic? my tvs been fine for 10+ years so why not? is there a certain amount of time that needs to pass before these upcoming cars become acceptable again?
