2007 Cadillac Escalade Standard Equip. + OPTIONS
SingleStylish replied to CadillacCTS's topic in Cadillac
What is everyones facination with floor mounted shifters these days? It's like column shifters are low class or something. Thy function the same right? This SUV is truck based right? What's wrong with it? -
Might it be more prudent to compare overall fleet sale volume and not % inc.? After all Toyota could have been selling 10 Camry's to fleets and in one month sell 2,000 which equates to 19900% increase. So that means that GM could still be selling by volume thousands more vehicles a month which in the end really affects resale more than percentage increases.

How much are member dues to the UAW? How much money does it take to staff an organization that controls staff? If the UAW disappeared as an organization and line workers accepted benefits and pay bases just like the white colar workers this discussion would me moot. The better question is this: When will US citizens quit drawing lines and distinctions and start living together? Too many try to make EVERYTHING these days black and white... just like gay rights... abortion... free speech... "right" to privacy... Nothing in life is this way. If more understood that then you would create the situations like these. Fact is this, corporations and workers (also read GM and UAW) have all been guilty of distancing themselves from each other. If the workers were extremely understanding and exuctives cared more about quality of life than shareholder return (see Southwest Airlines), you would see companies that could function. Companies and workers create these messes when one is not rewarded or given concessions when things go well or go wrong. Here's to the end of name calling... SERIOUSLY!!! STOP!

Anybody else notice the brown and tan two-tone interior not previously shown in that second photo?

If yours wasn't built in Mexico, I might believe it but... cross your fingers... history and stats tend to say that you will indeed have problems. For your sake I hope not because, you will never get a satisfactory repair or repsonse out of VW.

You are a jerk... plain and simple. A girl died needlessly. Period. Sometimes you need to see things emotionally and not so calously. As a self proclaimed Christian you should be offering prayer and concern... My regards to her family. Many kids these days seem to have issues with bullies. It is my own personal opinion that this is the society that was brought up without corpral punisment. You reap what you sow...

That's no joke, my wife bought into the VW trend with the last Jetta and well... it was in the shop (no joke!) 10 times and that was just within the first 20k miles. VW refused to do anything to remedy the transmission problems and said it was "driver habbit and functioning within factory tolerances."

GM selling its share of Fuji Heavy Industries
SingleStylish replied to Endo's topic in General Motors
From the business perspective alone, it may be better for Fuji to have an investor relationship that bridges the ethnic gap also. Let's face it, Asian cultures have a completely different set of corporate and economic values that the western world. Heck, Japanese people actually save... -
Better yet lets say it like it does in the Constitution itself: "...one nation, under our creator, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." Lest we forget our forefathers and the consitution acknowledge the presence and importance of God. If not we would use an American calendar and a judeo-christian callendar. Lord knows, everything else in this country must be specially made to fit ALL people...

I didn't know it was Pontiac in general... I thought is was just Fiero's! :P

Toyota wants Isuzu's deisel engine technology just like GM did for teh Duramax project. I am telling you... Toyota wants to build a formidible truck portfolio and having some serious leading edge deisel technology will pave the way. When Toyota enters the HD market with LD trucks they will need a diesel engine. Next after that they will probably go for the heart of the American truck industry which is the W class or 2.5 ton and above. International best be light on their feet... -
No you didn't start anything that didn't already exist in some form... I think some people just take too much of this car talk seriously. The reality is that none of what we talk about here really affects someones life.

PS I still own my "SINGLE cab, STYLISH sunset orange" pickup. It has 80k and runs like a top!

Toyota sold the Cavalier in Japan for a short time. After lackluster sales the vehicle was no longer sold as a Toyota in Japan. The car never was and never has been any part Toyota. The only part where Toyota came in was that Geo/Chevy got the Corolla and Toyota got the "crapalier." And to all those who call anyone who buys a foreign car a "sheople..." I was the most devout fan of General Motors for 21 years. In that time I owned three GM vehicles: an '87 Olds Cutlass Calais, a '92 Ext. Cab LWB C1500 Chevy, and my current GM purchase '01 Silverado Reg. Cab SWB. I have placed my faith and buying power in GM as a consumer for a number of years. After driving GM's latest offerings earlier this year my wife and I decided to trade our POS '03 VW that she had before we got married. We test drove everything GM: G6, Malibu, Impala, Saturn Vue, Equinox, Cobalt. We also drove things non-GM like Mazda 3 and 6 along with the Mercury Mariner, even drove a new Jetta and Passat... When we went to the last place, which both of us where apprehensive about, we felt like this was a good deal. We had gone into the local Honda dealer where we drove everything from top of the line to bottom of the line. We felt like the price we would pay matched the level of refinement and build quality along with appeal. Something that all of the others left us not feeling (especially the 27k G6). Now I have been a GM supporter and C&G fan for a very long time... even going so far as to talk others into GM purchases but, when it came time to put my money down on something... GM just didn't have anything that fit the bill. Now seeing things from the other side I think that is why so many people just don't buy GM cars anymore. The price and percieved build quality just don't match. Personally I don't want anymore appologies if GM expects me to buy GM next time. NO MORE 18k Malibu LT's with a sticker of 23k. No more low cost cars that only stand on low price points to gain sales. I'll go on record saying this, if GM produced one middle of the road mainstream model that delivered elgance and refinement for the premium I paid for Honda I would buy it. End of story... Now no more name calling. Grow up. We're only talking cars!

I personally like the new 9 spoke 18" rims that Honda has for the V6. I am trying to talk my wife into getting them for our '05.

GM selling stake in Fuji Heavy Industry

Isuzu is a part of FHI likewise the Isuzu heavy duty trucks are Fuji trucks. I don't think GM divesting itself of FHI is bad especially given your latter point about GMDAT but, I don't think that the investment was a dumb move either. This invesment played out much to GM's advantage more that the Fiat debacle did. -

It appears that the buttons bellow the HVAC contain a button for raising and lowering the vehicle a. la. Toureg. GM finally put air ride suspension on these things. That means that you can hug the road or your can ford a river... AWESOME!!! -

Those who believe GM got absolutely nothing out of this and that the only vehicle it begot was the lowly 9-2X... sorry to disappoint you but GM got this: 1. Diesel technology and engines and a lot of help on the ground up design of the Duramax; 2. Heavy Duty Fuji trucks for the W class GMC and Chevy lines; 3. Colorado and Canyon; 4. Sheet metal stamping technology that reduces the amount of time and material needed to produce one mold; 5. Expansion and products into areas of Asia GM never sold to; Those who think this was a waiste of money just don't see the facts. GM spent good money to get good intelligence. Without this think tank GM would have never had a competent disiel program. They essential took the knowledge and technology and now build their own... smart on GM's part... NOW what do you think Toyota wants??? I am guessing or betting on a light duty diesel engine... for what you say??? Hmm... maybe a plant in Texas... -

What happened to the ram air hood? I thought this thing was supposed to have a hood similar to the 4 Runner... Did GM change that? -

Suzuki is owned by FHI. Sorry, missed that first paragraph since it was so littered with stock symbols. -

Think about it, this is really Buick's big SUV too. I really think that is why there is such a change in styling. The general shape and flow of the front and rear tailights harken to a Lucerene style.
