Are you sure this was ID'd right??? This looks more like a theta based Equinox refresh. Really, I was thinking Equinox when I first saw it. The interior doesn't even look like the GMC, after all it is missing the three chrome bezled vents in the center stack.

Please tell us how any of the above vehicles are RADICALLY different than the vehicle they resemble? All of them are plebian models with great engines and some sport tuned equipment. Essentially his comment was not stupid... it was acurate. As far as the RSX goes, if Acura as a company was larger the car would have done better. The dealer body isn't large enough to support a mass marketed entry level sub-luxury sport coupe. Honda knew better than to refresh the CL because anyone in that market would easily go for the spiritual succesor the Honda Accord coupe. With the updated styling of the CL the Accord Coupe does well for Honda and Acura just as the Honda Oddessy does well for both marks. (reference the styling on both) Acura simply needs a V8. A flagship car that offers more room and equipment than a TL. Acura still has a nitch and pinache but, Honda as a company is to conservative to expirement. After all, Acura is still profitable the way they are.

Maybe they were actually thinking Acura at Honda prices??? -
SATURN HAS AN ALL-NEW OUTLOOK

I think the Saturn will compete well with this one... it appears to have thought about competing with it anyway. I like it. (Don't like the blue and light tan interior but the darker tan and black is really great!) -
Anyone else notice that the Sky sold 134 last month?

You're kidding right... you can buy a VW Jetta TDI for 18k and get 44 MPG with much of the same space... really... revolution??? I see nothing new here... a polised turd doesn't change what it is.

Six months put the Silverado on course for a release in September with debut at Texas State Fair in October with sales starting imediately thereafter. OH BOY!!! WHen can orders begin????

The problem is that they went from stainless braided in the last model to a steel braid with a rubber cover. The idea was reduced cost and same effective life but, moisture and dirt got underneath the rubber and the braids started to corrode. Newbiewar, these cables are a 1/4" in diameter and A-36 steel brades have a modulus of rigidity of 11200 ksi that is 11,200,000 lbs/in^2. They are by no means undersized or dangerous! The problem here was simply the switch from stainless to standard steel brades. The cables themselves are design with a factor of safety on the payload capacity. If you don't exceed the payload you most certianly will not exceed the maximum strain for the cables.

Not to mention the fact that a "rugged" vehicle should be able to take abuse. Get real... pick a side. I don't like it for any reason but, I know without a doubt that there will be rabid Toyota fans that would creme their pants to own one. Personally, if Chevrolet produced a cheap K5... even if it did have a cheap craptastic interior I would by the crud out of it too... To each their own!

Suburbans have been on lots in Texas for about two weeks now. Not many but, a few. I am guessing they are front loading Texas for the Toyota showdown...

THE 2007 CAMRY. WHEN A CAR BECOMES MORE (UNAPPEALING, BLAND, INEXPENSIVE TO BUILD...) Really, Toyota's tagline for this car is horible just like this pile of crap. I really don't like Camry's... it has nothing to do with who built it. I just don't see why they sell EXCEPT for a reputation for build quality which used to be well earned.

Ford is getting lost in a pricing strategy that makes it really hard to call it a value. Seriously, F-150 super cab with pw, pd, tilt, cruise, and a CD player 35k. NO WAY. I could go get a Silverado with 4WD, 6-disc CD changer, 310HP V8 and a host of options Ford doesn't offer for about 28k. I hope Toyota fills the plant in San Antonio. I live here and much of the recent development here has been geared towards their success. I don't wish for our economy to fail just as those up north with GM plants wish they were successful too. Please refrain from wishing undo financial harm on others...

My gosh man... it is a Toyota!!! Anyone serious person would recognize this as a Toyota. Just look at the fit and finish. Man that new Toyota grill looks so cohesive with the design. Wow! Score another one for the big T!!! Before anyone takes me seriously because there are those few that can't take a joke... I WAS ONLY KIDDING! Chicago: Volkswagen Mark V Golf
SingleStylish replied to Variance's topic in Chicago Auto Show (CAS)
As it should... the Cobalt was benchmarked using the Jetta. No two ways about it. Chevy built a cheaper Jetta. Now on the other hand, for a car that sells at 1.5x the price of its competition (same with the Jetta) this car doesn't raise the bar THAT high. The Jetta left me feeling like I could have bought a BMW for a couple grand more and spent several thousand less and bought a bigger more equiped V6 EX-L Honda Accord and been just as happy if not happier. VW simply is the solution looking for a problem. They added a lot in the 90's to the market but, have become stale, expensive, and derivative for no reason... -
To what extent and will GM be obligated again if the ship quits listing???
-
Given that I don't remember a panel roof on the concept... I think that is production.
-
That was exactly my point... GM doesn't use any of the Fiat diesel tech. in the US. Period. If they would, they would corner the market with diesel/electric hybrids!!!
-
Not a bad month for the Ridgeline. Really... it wasn't!
-
I knew what it was when I posted it. My point was that the general shapes and concept were kept into production. In a very happy way, the new trucks/SUV's look better than the concept except for the rims and tires on the Cheyenne. Thanks for the post though...
-
Josh, Just a suggestion... how about making C&G a non-profit organization that way deductions are tax deductible? You may then be able to solicit GM for some money also???
-
If GM would use the Fiat deisel tech. they bought for 3 bil. I wouldn't mind the investment at all. Since GM only offers one deisel engine in the US I pretty much call their end of the bargan a waste.
-
Aside from the headlights it looks true to the concept!

I respect your opinion Walt but, I think the real problem with America is Americans. The arrogance, laziness, and lack of motivation to really be involved. When is the last time you heard anyone get excited about going to vote and how they were making a difference??? That isn't the only problem... so far, all I hear anymore is that you can't simultaneously be on both sides. YOU MUST PICK A SIDE AND DEFFEND IT TO THE DEATH!!! I don't agree with that. I don't care if gays want to live together. I don't even care what they do in their bedroom. If someone gay asked my opinion however, I would very clearly argue it was wrong based on my religious beliefs. The problem is that everyone on all sides of any issue try to say their way is the only way and legislate it. I don't think God should be removed from every courthouse and I don't think Roe V. Wade should be repealed. Why can't Americans be more plural and quit bickering over the crap that at the end of the day isn't the role of the government?!?! Let's talk about the environment, healthcare, old age, responsible spending, education, education, education, and foremost an interest in the government that surrounds you. Democracy doesn't function in a spirit of apathy!

Call me crazy but... is this really news??? Think for a minute, GM sells almost 50% of their GMT-900 lineup to fleets as WORK TRUCKS. Those aren't rental car sales... Then they sell all of the full size vans to fleets. Then they've also got the 2 1/2 ton trucks that always go to fleets. Also you've got the cars and those are rental sales and few general purpose fleet cars. But, when you look at the number of vehicles GM has for industry that is huge! Toyota and Honda just don't have it. Period. So lets be fair and remove all of those sales and then compare that percentage of overall sales!
-
And BTW the last trucks had lateral stabilizers in the front end to give some torsions rigidity. Those appear to be on this model also and should not be confused or considered "torsion bars." Torsion bars were reserved for the SUVS, 4WD, and the newly made ext. cab short bed (the same bed found on the crews).
