  1. The RL has a 300 HP V-6. And, I don't think the average RL buyer cares about beating anyone stoplight to stoplight. The car is a tourer. Something that Cadillac used to know about. Remember, not everyone wants or needs performance. Some just want a nice ride. This RL is more competent than the last and sells a heckuva' lot better than the previous model too.
  2. Heck, even Internationals new Navistar engines are clean burning and produce very little to no odor. Stand behind a new International truck sometimes. Caterpillar's ACERt technology is the absolute best diesel technology in the world and it produces engines for many uses but, get this... a 3406 diesel in a truck that doesn't make but a little whistle! And that's not valve train, injectors, nope... it's all turbo. Guys, even the new Cat tractors don't make smoke, noise, or odor and we're talking construction equipment. Diesel makes too much sense. I can't believe more people haven't embraced it. VW sells every cotton pickin' TDI they can produce even the new ugly model... there are waiting lists 100's long with deposits. People that don't even like the car (me included) would like to have one because the engine is just that good. PERIOD.
  3. No offense but, no shit. It was a joke... I can't help but, here about her and Tony Parker ALL THE TIME. San Antonio likes to hype the actors that live here.
  4. I tell ya' what lets do a poll: Would it change your buying decision on a car if it had black mirrors rather than body colored mirrors? or Would it accentuate the many things that are cheap in the design and build of the car and suddenly that one item becomes a lighting rod for criticism? I assume the latter would be most appropriate.
  5. Buick did try product placement in Desperate Housewives last season. Carmen Miranda herself was the model showing the car off in a shopping mall. Give credit where credit is due. I may not buy any upcoming Buick but that doesn't mean there isn't a market for dull, curvy, mid-lux cars. Not an insult but fact.
  6. My father had an old '54 GMC and he installed the transmission backwards so that the gears didn't match the normal shift pattern. He did that for this very reason because a '54 GMC doesn't have any great security features. Could it be this guy did the same thing?
  7. Thanks for the backhanded compliment. Linear is good... not bad... Do the guys that write this stuff REALLY know anything about what people want? Or for that matter, do they know a good car when they see one?
  8. Are we even looking at the same car? Taurus in case you've forgotten: They look so much alike... I don't even understand why Ford didn't sell 300k/year like the Accord. PS The Accord was out in 2002 and the taillights are essential unchanged. The only change on the coupe tail was a new decklid and the addition of LED's. The shape of the car remains unchanged. The new G6 coupe LOOKS LIKE AN ACCORD. Now if it only delivered the same as an Accord, I would own one. If this were in the Pontiac stable in its current form there wouldn't be one soul on this board comlaining. Let's face it, it is a solid product that appeals to a bunch of people.
  9. Hopefully the production model will have more interesting headlamps to distinguish it from the Cobalt. This is just a Cobalt with a different set of front and rears. The interior is nice but, ditto on the wierd lookin' vents either side of the car. What is weird is that if this is actually an Opel, it doesn't match their interior design language and will feel out of place in their line-up. The recently released Vectra looks nothing like this inside or out.
  10. I remember all of the photos and the drama but, wasn't convinced that it was ACTUALLY the Avalanche. In those photos it looked like a chopped F150... sortof... Anyway, I am glad to see the color and the nice looking rear of the Avalanche. PS I have an '01 Silverado 1500 in Sunset Orange Metallic. Proud of that color, I will never find out why GM stopped carrying it. (Other than the fact that everyone I've met, including myself, has paint runs in that color.)
  11. HEY YOU CAN SEE THE AVALANCHE IN BURNT ORNAGE IN THE BACKGROUND OF THIS VIDEO!!! PS yes I know that I am screaming... thank you in advance!
  12. Spare tire prevents fold flat. No one wants the tire in the passenger area even if there were room. Also no one wants a swinggate anymore either.
  13. The current Tahoe has a third row.... Good job Chevy. This is exactly what affordable luxury should look like. Now make all of the vehicles in the lineup look this good..
  14. So are the GMT-900's debuting at midnight tonight??? Or will we have to wait until noon tomorrow? CST or EST???
  15. Here's another look... This looks more like the lower fascia of the Aura...(Aurora? Anyone else see the similarities... The "comeback" car for Olds is now a slightly modified name for the "comeback" car for Saturn???)
  16. My response to your comment wasn't out of defense as much as it was about calling attention to useless posts. No matter you may think... I own a GM truck and now, as of 4 months ago, a Honda car. I am not a rabid Honda FANATIC. At one point, I was however a RABID GM fan. There are some things GM still doesn't accel at... they're working at it... in the mean time the Honda made sense personally as it does for so many others and have found the new Civic to fit that mold also. The Cobalt, like it or love it, is light years ahead of anything GM has produced in the way cars for the common man. If they make the same amount of improvements within the next 4 years to the current Cobalt, I expect that I will like the Cobalt better than the Civic. But, until then... it stands to reason that a well built reputation, forward thinking design, better resale, and prices that deliver twice the "feeling" for half the price will always prevail. The Civic is just that. The Cobalt is the "value" champion. Pure and simple and it delivers exactly what you pay for. Which is just right for some. Apparently you're one of those people. Which is fine... I've written GM on many occasions to start selling vehicles that aren't "value" champions and instead the clearly better car. I would pay a premium if the car delivered a better "feeling." PS For what it is worth, I have backed up my comments with intents to purchase... that sometimes is overlooked in these topics. To me that goes further than idle chit-chat.
  17. Absolutely one of the most thoughtful posts I've seen in the years of being here... congratulations you have added so much to this conversation. How about expanding on why you think the the new "Civis is gross?" Why does the "Cobalt rules?"
  18. The wife and I went to the Honda dealership last night and drove both an '06 Civic EX and the '06 Accord. The salesman wouldn't let up about how GREAT the Civic was and how "Honda has made great strides to up the power of their vehicles. Every vehicle on the lot has been tuned to produce more HP." Little did he know that it was a function of SAE and not Honda. The guy was a sleeze to say the least but, the Civic was really a nice car for its market. I place it 2nd to the Mazda3 and the Cobalt as 3. I won't get into the interior bits here because for some reason so many like to do that these days. The Mazda3 has a thoughtful, modern, and high quality feel to it. Longterm is it worth it? Who knows?! The Civic it felt modern and restrained. The interior takes some getting used to but, overall the car made me feel like I was driving a car at twice the price with little to no road noise or engine racket. The Cobalt simply could be the better car with some extra bright work, a unique exterior much like the coupe version, and better engines. Some will argue the last point but, the Ecotec just doen't feel as robust or smooth as the Honda engines. The Corall is just ASS! PS I have driven all three...
  19. Looks like an Acura RDX to me...
  20. How unbelievably horrible for the Accord... we have an '05 Accord Coupe V-6 and get 36 HWY and 26 CITY without hybrid technology. Horrible.
  21. Am I the only one that finds the rear window in the second photo suspicious? It seems to me they are trying to hide what is underneath with a plexyglass window. Maybe the rumors about having a rear window like the Tundra Double Cab is true...
  22. This is the same vehicle that was under heavy camo in the US and labled by many as the "new" Vue. If you remember the interior identically memicked the S3X. I have my own curiousity as to why it was here in the US in front of a Michigan Macarroni Grill only 6 short months ago... This is obviously a Chevy made for europe but, there must be some possibility of it coming here as a product too or it wouldn't have been here in three's in MI testing.
