Reviews of both the 9-3 2.8T's and G6 GTP's units haven't been very good, though. C/D called the 9-3's "sloppy" and the G6's "primative." The lack of a four-cylinder/manual combo is more of a concern, IMO, than a V-6/manual.

Hopefully the interior looks more Opel than that.

I was offline for a while so I never saw it. But, yeah, I realize the LaCrosse's interior represents a departure for GM and that styling is subjective. Let's all hope that the next generation LaX will be universally appealing.

It just seems a bit bare, then, without any inserts. I like the Lucerne's a lot more... the different layers of materials make it seem more... engineered?

My biggest beef with the LaX's material quality is probably the plastic wood trim and the bare doorpanels... why no upholstery inserts? I believe the old Regal had them (or was it Intrigue?)

Yeah, I'm actually a fan of the ION's original and creative design. You can see what the designers were thinking, but then of course, the execution turned out poor. Blame the engineers and accountants... not the Saturn designers. It's not like a comparable Scion (or un-comparable RX-8...) is any better looking.

Yeah, low-sulfur diesel and particulate filters can't come any sooner. I believe the '07 (or '08?) E320 CDI will be 50-state emissions legal.
