I have a brilliant idea instead why don't we name like this GM -- Becomes JM -- Japanese Motors Chevy -- Becomes -- Toyta (Not with A in middle) Saturn -- Hunda (That's right with a U) Pontiac --PMW Buick -- Aucra Cadillac -- Luxes Hummer keep it regardless of what we name it, it will divide the society. That way we can do with the bad names and be in sync with the halos associated with those brands here in the US. (<SARCASM>)

Well Said! Pontiac needs a Solstii coupe ASAP and that should be only Pontiac exclusive. People do have hard time deciding which one to choose. I think Pontiac needs fresh air as soon as possible.

While your suggestions may be intellectual compared to the emotional opinions of other C&G members, it is not practical for GM to euthanize those brands. As I have mentioned earlier, do you want GM to burn money for closing those brands like they did with Oldsmobile? In short term those development dollars will go to Chevy and Cadillac, but in long term Caddy and Chevy cannot replace Buick and Pontiac and Saturn. If that is the argument, why not kill Opel/Vauxhall and Holden and put Chevy brand their place? Modelling your ideal on a car company similar to Toy, Lexass and Scion may not be the only way to a better vehicle manufacturing. GM needs to optimize those brands, and that is what they are trying to do. I personally do not think those brands should be killed, give them niche and reduce the volume and investment. And, I do not have emotions attached to those brands.

Like how you failed to differentiate the post and pre GMAC sale revenues of GM and blatantly said that GM lost 8 billion in revenues in the first quarter of 2007 compared to the first quarter of 2006, which was the revenue GMAC was making.

For that price they should have gotten a Z06 . No criminal not even one in most of the exotics would have dared to outrun that one. It is sad to see the story of those officers who died in the line of duty.

GM's annual budget for R&D is $14 billion just under Toy. It was in 2005 if I remember correctly that Toy passed GM to be #1 spender in R&D. Where Toy spend its R&D moolah only God knows because none of their ideas to come out yet are original. Probably spying other companies and bribing their employees to get others' R&D material, that is where their money might be going.

If you consider $72K Corvettes, yes the Z06 have been a sale out for Chevy, but they only occupy about 20% of Corvertte Production. GM will do that only if: 1. They want to make Corvette a niche brand. 2. Can still make profit despite losing number 3. Better have exotically classic material to justify that price. I think one of Corvette's uniqueness is its price. It sits right between the ponies and expensive European snob moblies, and yet shows them its tailpipes when it comes to performance. It is a formula which is truly unique in the automobile industry, and losing that will be GM shooting in its foot.

That is the only vehicle I will trade my Z06 for. The Du-Di V-8. Although I am not a sucker for Duallies, so I will have the 2500HD Crewcab SWB LTZ in Black.
