  1. And why shouldn't GM [a business] make high margin vehicles [Trucks/SUVs] as opposed to pie in the sky crap [the EV1] Seen the Volt or the hydrogen concepts by chance?!?!?! Nothing has been 'fumbled away' Which makes you out to look like even more of an idiot. You know, someone who doesn't know the facts, like most of the 'environmental league' Umm, what?!?! NA Car and Truck of the year, the UAW contract, China, India, GMT800 & 900, Saturn, the Corvette program?!?!?! I'm sure none of those, and countless others things GM has done in *just* the past 3 years were EVER considered good moves. You know, one would think that the media of all entities would keep up with the FACTS or at least take a look at recent events before they run off at the mouth. (Yes, I'm refering to the fact that GM is ahead of Toyota now) Wrong... GM didn't underestimate anything, they just can't build something like the Prius for anywhere near a profit. Not to mention the PRI-tentio-US has it's own problems now both in mechanics and image. They still pretty much are a niche unworthy of attention from the business aspect. And THIS single solitary thing is one of the MAJOR reasons why the Detroit automakers are still VITAL to our economy . It's nice to see someone finally "GET IT" Oh what tha f*ck ever... GM's division and branding problems are not the result of GM cars being absent from the wet dreams of enviro-geeks. Truth be told, those people probably wouldn't have bought GM -or- american in the first place because they're the same type that thinks CR is god of all cars. GM would've lost the market either way.
  2. It's always good to have a body shop owner as a personal friend. :AH-HA_wink: You did the right thing. The officer was simply trying to weasel out of paperwork. If she didn't want to pay for the damages, she shouldn't have been so negligent.
  3. F*ck Ch*ck
  4. Can't get the desktop because my laptop is a piece... (I'll be *so* excited to sign the papers on that new Macbook and complete my transition to the dark side ) Here's the image tho...
  5. Never been to Savannah, but would love to go... Well there we have it... I'll go down and take care of the place for ya at least 2 weeks out of the year That way we can kill 2 birds with one stone (Your need of security and my need of a vacation :sign0200:)
  6. LMFAO!!!
  7. All of this seems really scary to me... I fear that the future holds neither a sports car to have fun in nor a functional truck to carry other stuff to have fun in. Maybe I'll stick to classics, surely someone can come up with a retrofit hydrogen, CNG or ethanol system for those (Especially as big as that market is)
  8. Just another "educated" person kicking dirt on our once proud country IMO. Seriously, history is always going to be told from different slants and agendas. By in large it's the same, just with different 'extras' So why not just let us have our history to take pride in? I might sound jaded, but I'm just really tired of our country being 'sh*t' in the eyes of everyone, especially it's own self-righteous spoiled and ungrateful citizens.
  9. BY FAR.... My favorite Chrysler Concept! I'd buy it in a heartbeat, still!
  10. +1 LOL... Yep, that shows how brainwashed and stupid americans are now...When the EV1 tanked or when the 8-6-4 motors blew up, GM was destroyed and is even still getting what for today (Who killed the electric car?) Yet, now that the Prius is having problems; "Toyota should be cut some slack for being so innovative and trying a new technology." These are the same people that will tell you to buy Abercrombie over Gap because Abercrombie is 'it' eventhough they're the saem damn thing... It's pure ignorance; or bias? 'cept it never will come simply because the media isn't honest enough to eat crow and admit that Toyota isn't the savior they made it out to be... Not to mention the yuppies that read/write the media slander in favor of Japan Inc./against Detroit are probably too blinded by ignorance and bias in the first place. They probably don't even realize whats happening.
  11. +1 on the BUILD IT! Sure, it could look a little more traditional, but this injection of youth is exactly what Buick needs. They need to continue to set the market on it's ear like they did with the Enclave.
  12. I think it's because the public tends to tune out on things like that... Maybe on down the line they'll have informative commercials because they certainly need them. But for now GM needs to get the public emotionally involved with the car and that's why the ads focus on making the consumer laugh. I agree... I hate Toyota, but I LOVED that and the old man commercial.
  13. It's still a bunch of either way you slice it... And I love that, eventhough CR admits to using assumptions with Toyota products, (Seriously calling into jeopardy their accuracy in the first place) the article still justifies this survey as better than JD Power just to try and kick the domestics... Before CR became the 'yuppie idiot choice of the year' JD Power was touted as the end all be all in quality surveys until the domestics started doing well in it. That's when the collective media made the jump to CR. So they can justify the blood on their hands. P.S. Looks like CR is trying to go down in style though... No longer reccommending the G6 and tanking the Solstice. Not only are they trying to damage GM's weakest division even further they're also kicking dirt on the GM revival, since technically the Solstice was the first car of the "new" GM. I'm sure it's just a bunch of their pansy-ass readers bitching about something stupid that doesn't even relate to quality in the first place. (BTW, how did the Sky do?)
  14. I think they're great! The first ad will really click with the younger/yuppie set because it's simple and related to something a lot of them are into ( being physically fit) not to mention it's funny, so it'll stick and be remembered. The second one isn't as cohesive but it's still good and it'll still stick out in peoples minds because they'll have to either see it twice or think about it a little to completely get the jist of it.
  15. Nothing like promoting your "performance" division with a halo car that is more bland looking and less fun to drive than much of the MAINSTREAM competitions V6 grocery getters.
  16. Why eliminate the Dakota? Unless they see it competing with the Ram. If I were in charge, I would eliminate the Dakota and replace it with a more niche specific Jeep entry and then give Dodge a true compact pick up. I would kill the Commander and Compass, then if the market justified it, introduce an extended version of the Grand Cherokee to cover Commander ground. Or just build a bigger GC in the first place; the Liberty can cover GC ground. The Durango is not a bad idea, just a bad execution... Same can be said for the Sebring. It's subpar and drags the entire Chrysler division down with it. They need a SERIOUS (not Avenger cloned) entry that is more luxurious, to compete where they eventually WANT to compete. Chrysler Corp. needs at least one large SUV... Durango is still larger than GC isn't it? Maybe Jeep could occupy that part of the line up with my affore mentioned GC. It's funny though, because if in fact they are moving Chrysler up the ladder, an Imperial style sedan could work. (Especially if the LY 300 replacement loses some weight) But I agree that the Imperial was a waste of time in the current iteration of the concept. P.S. I completely forgot about the Aspen... LOL. That shows you how much it matters
  17. Can't wait to see the 'fidy' G6... Like Pontiac hasn't got enough image problems already... Wait 'til the press gets ahold of this sh*t. I certainly hope they have more than this for SEMA... Looks like they're really 1) capitalizing on the Enclave popularity and 2) Pushing the crap out of Buick again (Neither is a bad idea, IMO) I like the idea of a Sierra HD Denali.
  18. True that, my friend...
  19. It certainly looks the part! I agree that the 6A only option is lame, but I'm sure they'll sell every one they make. Maybe GM and Chrysler are giving struggling Ford some breathing room with the hot selling Mustang, by choosing to roll out entries into this non-essential segment slowly...

    Crossings

Kinda cool: The covered bridge in Elizabethton TN. Built in 1882 for $3000, the person who headed the construction jokingly called it his $5 bridge because that is the profit he made from it. Weathered a massive flood in 1901, it is 155 feet long and it includes a pedestrian path and wagon lane. I go to Elizabethton all the time for their weekend car shows, it's a very beautiful and historic place. Wouldn't mind living there someday, it's just a small mill town with good close-knit people (Just like my town used to be)
  21. "In this day of ever increasing state budget cuts, North Carolina officials have now turned to a less expensive, yet equally efficient way to grind bumps out of our roadways." NC DOT driver Chuck Iredell: "Welp, I had my old Cutlass sittin' there at er garage one day when Paco, this new guy we hired - that dudn't speak much english, offered to bye er. Next thang I knowed, Paco was out there on old highwae 70 one day just a goin' to town with these new fangled hydro contraptions. When the boss man saw it, he said; I think I fount the answer to all our probems!" NCDOT officials even went as far as to say that the state would not have to spend the money to paint the 'machinery' with their traditional precautionary yellow simply because most of the 'hydro-matic' cars either already came in that color or equally bright 'visibility enhancing' paint. Coincidentally, roughly 50% of the cars also came equipped with strobe kits and/or 'reflective elements' that are sure to improve safety as well as rachet up the coolness factor for DOT and state officials alike.
  22. A Corvette brand could work if done correctly, but it'd be walking a fine line to pull it off. However, I don't think the Corvette should ever be taken out of Chevrolet showrooms. Instead I'd favor the classic (50s/60s) marketing set up of "Chevrolet & Corvette" dealers. EX: "Detroit Chevrolet & Corvette"
  23. Actually he did in his first book... The one where he bitches about erosion from 3rd world countries growing crops. Because you know, run off is obviously more important than starving people. Seriously, I kinda wished this guy would've won the president seat, just so we wouldn't have to be subjected to this garbage. THE SCORE: Ghandi -0- Al Gore -1- LOL
  24. Yes, because the constant conflict + nuclear technology advances would've planted us right in the middle anyway. As far as I'm concerned, Al Gore is severely threatening my freedom by selling everyone and every politician on regulating our lives. Ya know, sadly I voted for Gore way back in the day, but I guess I was young and dumb because I'm sure we'd 1) either not exist as a nation after 911 or 2) Be in twice as bad of shape as we are now, especially Detroit (It would be DOA) Trust me, I'm no fan of Bush but Gore, like Hilary is too extreme to do any good for this country. That's my general opinion, yes. (Of course, that's my general opinion of all politicians)
  25. In person, the new Accord reminds me of a modern Saturn L300.
